Bonne AD quiits over NIT fiasco

I don’t get this, so he, with the coaching staff said nah we pass on the NIT and it sounds like the players and maybe school admin wanted to play?

This article reads to me that they wouldn't have had enough players, and there was some apathy on the tourney for those still left to play.  They notified the NCAA/NIT before any offer was made that they didn't want to be offered.  The Bonnie AD didn't expect the NCAA to leak this, but come on......what isn't leaked these days.  The departing AD does admit the communications on this issue weren't done properly.

This sounds fishy - weak reason for him to resign.  Something else is behind this - either he was unhappy or the school has an issue with him that might not even be AD related.

You might be on to something, it was kind of weak. In itself it was just a lousy job of communicating. Maybe it was just the latest example, the straw that finally broke the camels back?

There's a lot more to the story. SBUnfurled tweeted as much.

From the SBU Forum, which is as creditable as our forum.  So take as you wish.

Just so everyone is clear, this has been brewing a while and is not primarily related to the NIT stuff. This week’s fiasco just served as the last straw and accelerated things.

Did the band get an email about this too?

Lol nah, we barely ever get told about anything. I'm surprised we got told about the head coach thing.

Kyrel Luc entered the portal on March 18.  Barry Evans entered on March 17.  Melian Martinez also on the 18.  Chad Venning on March 20.  These would leave the Bonnies with 8 scholarship players and Banks, Mika-Woods and Pride are all seniors.  Schmidt goes into next year with 5 players.

I wouldn’t be upset if the Bonnie’s had a down year or two (but with a great NET so it helps us if we beat them)
