Vanderbilt could easily be a top 50 RPI team next year. Wichita St could have a better RPI as well.

Yeah, the next couple seasons are shaping up to be very friendly for road trips. I'll be able to make all of them except Cancun, even if they're on weeknights. Times from Cincy are favorable: 4 hours to Valpo, SIUE is a 5.5-hour trip back to St. Louis, <5 hours to Carbondale, 4 hours to Nashville, <3 hours to Terre Haute. Even more favorable from STL, especially Edwardsville. We'd better pack that place.

5 hours to Valpo, I've driven it my whole life.

Updating Pistol's list for the SEMO game and Timmermann's insinuation that both Vandy and SIUE would be a road games (although 4 seems like an awful lot of non-conference road games):

2013-2014 Schedule:

11/9 vs. SEMO - 216

11/21 vs. Oral Roberts - 151 (Cancun Challenge, home sites)

11/23 vs. Bowling Green - 274 (Cancun Challenge, home sites)

11/26 @ Wisconsin - 32 (Cancun Challenge, Cancun, Mexico)

Love the addition of SEMO as a buy game. I've always wanted our buy games to be the more regional opponents - UMKC, SEMO, etc. Alums in the area means more tickets sold. More local interest than Savannah State or USC-Upstate or whatever other weird buy games are out there.

Also, that should be the first regular season game of the year, based on last year's dates.

  • 3 weeks later...

A "name" which causes RPI to plummet.

Actually Yale was 198 in RPI last year according to RPIForecast.com. Not great, but certainly not an RPI killer like some of the 300+ RPI school we have played in the past. They return 4 of 5 starters as well so there shouldn't be a huge drop off.

Further everyone has actually heard of Yale (even if it is for academics rather than athletics), so I would expect better attendance than a game against North Texas or Tennessee Martin.

They also have two St Louis players, which can't hurt interest or attendance.

Again from the twitter feed of Ben - Vandy is a road game on December 30th.

I remember the Bills playing at Vandy on New Year's Eve in 96. It wasn't pretty. Then again, that team was a disaster.

Let's hope for better results this time.
