Bobby Metzinger
Thanks, Metz. Again, mods, please let our little detective know that I am not BillIrish or whatever the hell it is. All you have to do is check the IP addresses like you did in the past. Very simple. I enjoy proving old Pistol Pete wrong. His assumptions are even more delusional than I thought. Cowboy
Okie, JMM, and Bizzle are KILLING it in this thread. BillIrish, please spare us the sanctimony. No one here is a wide-eyed 10-year-old Catholic kid who'd still fall for the myth of Notre Dame (well, there do seem to be a few, which is pathetic). The football program has fallen into BCS mediocrity and had the same amount of scandals as any other program. Just because the school is Catholic doesn't mean they don't see the same stuff every other big-time football school sees. We can argue the details, but none of them are above it. At Notre Dame, just as at every SEC and Big Ten and Big 12 and Pac 12 school, it is about money first and foremost, above all else. Any reasonable adult could tell you that, and that's what makes ND alums and fans so annoying. Spare us the pretentiousness. As for the Declan Sullivan situation, it makes me sick to my stomach that the same coaching staff is still there and they basically got a slap on the wrist after saying sorry. Having been a manager in college (for SLU basketball, which is why I'm here and not on IrishFluffers.com or whatever), I can tell you that it's hard to say no to a coach when you're asked to do something for the team- and they never asked me to do anything crazy like go 5 stories up in a scissor lift in a wind storm. That decision and the responsibility for it is 100% on the coaches, but they all got to keep their jobs after a kid died. Like I said- football and money (synonyms for BCS programs) above all else. I don't understand- which side are you on? Are you not a SLU fan? If not, why are you here? I've never bashed lower schools based on rankings, nor am I bashing Notre Dame because their fans do the same. I'm just pointing out their never-ending pompous douchebaggery. Never said anything about "rankings," whatever you mean by that. Nice to see you equate crapping in a towel with negligent homicide. -you say in another thread you try to be reasonable, i guess these responses are reasonable? jimbofive
Res Life killed a kid? wahahahaha i just picture the kid standing in a darkened room surrounded by cloaked RES LIFE priests who are charged with sentencing him for some petty crime. one by one they all slowly turn their thumbs down and then a gong sounds and a huge mutant tiger comes out of the wall led on a chain by a midget. the tiger then proceeds to fuok and then eat the kid while the midget rides the tiger bareback. TheA_Bomb
Look we should all join in group hate for ND. I am all for that and filled with all kinds of sports hatred. It would bring us together as SLU fans if we could all consolidate our sports hate and focus on a few teams. We need to work this out and all get on board with it for the sake of BillikenNation identity.

showthebill
I thought Dayton had some of the nicest fans of any teams we played.... Haven't had the same experience with the St. Joe's crowd. That could just be Philly though
Fansince59
Critics thought ND couldnt stay independent twenty years ago. It just drew 33000 fans to Dublin. North Carolina and Georgia Tech saw their stadiums filled when ND came to town. Stanford, Pitt, every school fills the stadium when the Irish visit. Do you know how hard they are to come by in the Horn of Africa. So back to the hate-train. So far we have proposals of Group Hate for: Dayton ND I would like to add the following: SPUMAC Marquette SMS X SIU We can rank our hate levels later but I think we need to all get on the same page as to who we should hate the why doesn't matter the more irrational and just pure emotional the better. Fansince59
Hatred of other schools? I don't hate X, Dayton, ND or Marquette, or even Duke. These are good schools. Here are rotten pples everywhere. We have had our issues too I repect SLU for beefing up its academics, campus and basketball program. Easy to *****, but we are doing well without becoming a joke school. The schools that were a joke were Miami in Jimmy Johnson's tenure, UNLV under Tark, where the schools themselves let totally unqualified players in. There were others but to dis schools because jealousy is silly.

billikendave
Notre Dame has the highest graduation rates in D1 football and 100% grad rate in basketball. Based upon that factor alone, they are not like anyone else. I don't think you can reasonably say they are a football factory like an SEC school unless you have blind hatred. There are bad people everywhere and bad decisions made everywhere. http://stanford.scout.com/2/1066657.html http://espn.go.com/blog/notre-dame-football/post/_/id/1906/irish-top-ncaa-graduation-rate

If I cared enough I could write a dissertation on all of the disgusting behavior that Notre Dame players, coaches, officials have perpetrated. Does it go on everywhere? It does. Is there one school that claims they are above it all? There is. There is no other school, with a possible exception of Brigham Young, that alumni tie their religious faith into some blind support for their teams, but Ive never heard anyone from BYU claiming moral superiority. ND's denial-mindset reminds me more of Penn State. They both havent been relevant in fifteen years but cling to the past. Penn State clung to Joe Paterno the same way Notre Dame faithful cling to Catholicism to prove to themselves that they are somehow better than everyone else. It didn't work out well for Penn State and it certainly isnt working out well for Notre Dame (ie looking the other way on rape, total failure to take meaninglful responsibility in the death of that student manager). Fansince59
Notre Dame took complete responsibility over the death of Declan Sullivan. Admitted it and Sullivan family has said so. Pistol: Hypothetical, what team would you rather have to replace SLU and reprent us the last 25 yrs instead of the SLU teams that did? Criteria: 1) success on the court, overall wins, overall RPI, conference champtionships, conference tournament championships, NCAA wins, NCAA Final 4's, NCAA Championships 2) academic prowess and national USA Today ranking of the educational instution and the academic prowess of the players overall 3) ethics; clearnliness of program... fewest incidents, violations, thugs 4) player NBA successes after leaving college 5) coaches credentials and ethics and awards including leading The USA national team. Name 5 teams. Kentucky? Syracuse? Memphis State? Cincinnati? Florida? North Carolina? Who? Rank your top 5 in order.
