RUBillsFan
incredible that the Post couldn't get Conklin's name correct!?! Wasn't Daly a walk on last year? Doesn't anyone proof read anymore? Daly is still a walk on this year. Although he has gotten more playing time because the Bills have blown out so many opponents. We all know the editors at the Post are a joke. Mistaking Conklin as Daly is hardly their worst offense, but one would think whoever repeatedly cannot identify players over there should lose his job. bk18
I would be surprised if we have more than 1 game go below 9,000 for conference games. I am thinking at least 2 sell outs as well.

I just checked online and I am still able to buy tickets to the Xavier game. I believe someone on here previously reported that I was already a sell out which appears to be false. However, I would still expect Xavier to sell out.
Box and Won
Glad to hear that SLU's use of Groupon has been a success. While Groupon doesn't work well for restaurants and certain other businesses (from what I've heard), it's perfect for Billiken basketball. An extra 400+ fans can make a big difference. You're assuming that an editor actually saw that cutline, which is 50/50 at best this week. As noted in another thread, the office isn't exactly crowded this week. In that case, you had a photographer who doesn't regularly shoot SLU games file photos, on about a one-hour deadline, to copy and layout editors who most like aren't SLU regulars either -- and may not even be sports regulars. I believe, however, that Matt Dickey may join us as an intern after second semester, so that should solve some of the problems.

RUBillsFan
pretty sure there was Yeah, about a month ago there was a Groupon where you could buy tickets for $10 each to any of the following games Vermont, IL-Springfield, Arkansas St., or Texas Southern. You would exchange the Groupon voucher(s) for tickets in either the $12 or $20 sections. A few days ago a the same deal on Groupon was available for the GW, Temple, Duquesne, St. Bonaventure, Richmond, and Fordham games.

slufanskip
My wife and I noticed there was a burning smell and some haziness inside the arena, as well. No clue what happened, though. Sorry, that was me, I went by the Fountain before the game and had Rick's Mom's Chili ... my bad
FromDaEastSide
-i was trying to put together the 10 largest crowds in Chaifetz history as i wonder if last night would have been in that group but even with the link Steve provided last week i don't have access to all of the box scores Per AP Box Scores Attendance Top 10: Dayton 2/21/2009 - 10,603 Xavier 2/24/2010 - 10,008 La Salle 3/7/2009 - 9,746 GW 1/17/2009 - 9,690 SIU 12/5/2009 - 9,483 Dayton 2/13/2010 - 9,453 BC 11/22/2008 - 9,127 Richmond 1/25/2009 - 8,946 Missouri St 12/19/2009 - 8,843 Duquense 2/27/2010 - 8,169 Richmond 1/9/2010 - 8,134 Texas Southern 12/27/2011 - 8,

I shot the photographer an e-mail on 12/28 noting the misidentified Brian Conklin in the cut line and got a nice e-mail back: Yes. That was my fault as I do the captions...probably during the frenzy before deadline...misreading the roster list. Thank you for the information and please forgive my mistake Cg -- Christian Gooden | Photographer | St. Louis Post-Dispatch

waldo027
2008-09 was the first year of Chaifetz, and that's the only logical explanation as to why so many people showed up that season, when we weren't having a particularly good season. TheOldie
Sold 6500 season tickets for first year. Been on downward slope dice then. Will rebound next year
Schasz
I just got back to S. Florida and I really enjoyed my first visit to Chaifetz and seeing our talented team. Let's get a road win tonight in New Mexico.
