BWBillikenReport
He scored just eight points in Chantilly's last game and is only averaging 10.7 ppg this season. A recruiting analyst who has seen him a lot lately told me this: "Wait to see how long it takes him to transfer to a low-major school. He won't last at SLU." Kind of interesting to hear from such a highly-praised player. Especially since Paul Biancardi (former SLU asst coach and current ESPN National Recruiter) thinks a lot of the kid. AnkielBreakers
Yeah right, this analyst must not have seen our dominate interior game this year. I think we need any help we can get. Manning may seem like a world beater once he gets on campus.
BWBillikenReport
Ha! I mentioned something about the lack of talent inside and he said it didn't seem to matter. Apparently he's just not that good. Yeah right, this analyst must not have seen our dominate interior game this year. I think we need any help we can get. AnkielBreakers
Actually, just googled him to see if there is any new video. It shows a kid who is suprisingly athletic for a 7 footer, and is way too skinny. He will need to add 30-40 pounds, and then he will be effective in the post. Just the kind of project Majerus is known for.
Bobby Metzinger
If Majerus is getting kids that Soderberg would have brought in, it's time for a change. It looks like a light gust of wind could blow that kid over. Where are the weight training programs?
AnkielBreakers
Woh, woh, pump the brakes. This kid is pretty talented. Give him a break. How many 7 foot players really have skills in high school? Maybe 10. Otherwise, you have to develop the player. Anyway, I will take the opinion of the hall of fame coach over the unnamed high school scout any day of the week.

Bobby Metzinger
Was Husak, Bryce coached by Majerus? No, but it's a "here we go again" feeling that we all get when we see a 7 footer that weighs 160 lbs soaking wet.
mcglotherirvin
He weighs 225. That's not that little. No, but it's a "here we go again" feeling that we all get when we see a 7 footer that weighs 160 lbs soaking wet.
BACKHANDtheRICAN
He weighs 225. That's not that little. Actually 225 for a 7' would be VERY thin. But I think he actually weighs quite a bit more from what ppl have reported on this board.
lawyerbilliken07
See: Husak, Bryce for more on these lovely experiments in futility. Bryce with 4 years of Majerus would have been a pretty darn good player. He could absolutely shoot (despite the uninformed groans that went up from the Scottrade crowds whenever he put up a three) and he had both better hands and instincts than given credit for. I have no idea about Manning, but I think work ethic will be the big difference maker. If he has it, he'll be fine. If not, see Thompson, Brett. JettFlight5
To some: Can we at least let the kid get on campus before we say how much he sucks?
GoBills
If everybody returns from this year's team, this kid will have time to develop, maybe even redshirt. I never regarded him as the type of player who would be expected to make an immediate impact.
jbizzle09
Are we actually ripping this kid before he even steps foot on a court? And I thought some of the treatment Loe has gotten on this board had been unfair? Geez...

Tonka
Are we actually ripping this kid before he even steps foot on a court? And I thought some of the treatment Loe has gotten on this board had been unfair? Geez...Yes, it's pretty sad too. Somebody looks at some stats, knows nothing more and makes a bunch of assumptions. It was reported that Manning's weight was off and he now weighs 240. An athletic 240, I will take it. I will also trust our coaching staff's review of the kid. As this program builds not all freshman are going to be expected to play lots of minutes their freshman year. Will our coaching staff miss on some players in the future - I am sure they will. But, considering he hasn't even finished his senior year of ball, let's give the kid a break.
BWBillikenReport
I was just putting it out there as a discussion point because I know I've seen some posts on here suggesting that JM has a chance to get significant playing time when he comes in next year. BWBillikenReport
I wasn't suggesting that SLU's coaching staff was inaccurate with their read on Manning's talent, I was simply putting forth an opinion from a Baltimore-based recruiting analyst, who has seen him pretty extensively because his AAU squad, Team Takeover, plays in the area often. Yes, it's pretty sad too. Somebody looks at some stats, knows nothing more and makes a bunch of assumptions. It was reported that Manning's weight was off and he now weighs 240. Box and Won
How many stars was Heinrich coming out of high school? The reports on Manning make him sound somewhat similar.

Basketbill
So you post a quote from an anonymous analyst.....why ? We have no way to judge this analyst. Out with his name or don't post......
kmbilliken
Hopefully the kid is athletic. Then he has a shot to develope. He certainly isn't very developed at this point if he's only averaging 10 points per game in high school. Does anybody know how many rebounds and blocks he's averaging?
