What a dream come true, I have been hoping so badly to land (checks notes) Tim Dalger and (checks again) Staf van Bussel ever since I learned about both of them over the past 24 hours I mean through the years of being massive fans of both of them. I certainly do not know much about either of these guys (which means nothing as I do not know most of the guys fan bases across the country are salivating over), but welcome aboard! On paper I like the three additions this spring as far as roster fit (wish we didn't lose Vice, but I think I saw a headline that he was headed for bankruptcy, so buzz off) and am looking forward to seeing how we finalize the roster. With the transfer portal I just have to trust the coaches, so if we add these kids, I am happy.
While I am glad that players have the ability to transfer and play immediately, the transfer portal has to really suck for non elite high school recruits who would typically be the recipients of additional attention as programs tried to finalize their roster in the spring. Hopefully things normalize a bit after the number of players with the free COVID year continues to dwindle.

Kind of a funny story regarding Vice. After the final home game vs Dayton, they always let friends, family and fans on the court to meet and get pictures with the players.  Anyone that knows or has met my 10 year old knows he's basketball crazy. NBA encyclopedia, SLU stats before he was born, he knows everything.  I told him he should go introduce himself to Medley and Vice since they'd be the future of the program.  He goes over,  sticks his hand out to Vice,  and introduces himself.  He comes back with a sour look on his face and said,  "That guy is a bum. He didn't even speak a word to me."
Fast forward to a month ago when I told him he de-committed, he was instantly saying how it's better for us, he's a bum, etc. I tried explaining the Billikens.com "he's a tool" thing to my wife and how awesome it was my son was doing it without even knowing it. She looked at me unimpressed and called me a tool.

The summer academic program cobbled together for Clemons included five physical education classes at Barton County, plus the three correspondence courses from Brigham Young and one correspondence course from Adams State College in Colorado.

I want to preface this by saying I have no idea if SLU would have an interest in this guy - but A Cal guard named DeJuan Clayton hit the portal, so I was just thinking of possible Harriman connections. I'm not necessarily advocating for him, but I'm posting this because he has a fascinating background. This upcoming season would be his 8th college season!
Started at Coppin, went to Hartford and then Cal. It appears that he has had three redshirt injury seasons and I guess if you add in the covid bonus season that's how you get to 8 seasons. I have to think that would be an NCAA record.

Your first four points are spot on. I disagree with #5 (96 KenPom, #97 NET) reeks of mediocrity. The whole department is doing some awesome stuff…but when the largest revenue program is struggling it paints anything in a negative light.

It is a bit insulting when you make reasonable critiques of the program and people say you are a hater and not a real fan.  For my part, I have been financially supporting the program for pushing 50 years and as my situation improved I have increased that support to the point that it is a fair amount more than probably many on this board do who are calling me a hater and not a real fan so to be called not a real fan is absolutely BS and those who try to make themselves out to be the moral high ground is simply disgusting.  I won't even try to restate my position and those who think much the same because some of you are simply incapable of wanting to try to understand.   So, as far as I am concerned, those who are calling others haters and not real fans can go piss up a rope.  No this is not how I really feel - you don't want to know that.

Its hard to tell who it is because those close to the program these days think that any criticism makes you a bad fan and that we should be excited about everything. My guesses at the new coach(es?) ranked from most to least likely

Wow our negativity on here has driven away potential recruits, committed recruits, and assistant coaches. Can't seem to finish the job though with Ford himself

New assistant coaches (Tate aside) seems like a win to me. Either they stink and everyone is let go (just pretend) or they help Ford win some big games for a change

Before Hamilton went to Miami, SLU had more NCAA appearances than they did.
Hamilton has 8 NCAA as FSU in 21 years.  In the 46 years previous they had 10.
FSU would be the DePaul of the ACC if not for Hamilton.

Seems more like Travis Ford isn’t the recruiter he’s been made out to be.  Losing a recruit of this caliber at this point is just another critical blow to a program in decline.  And we are gonna give it a whole year before we finally pull the plug and start over. Ridiculous. 

My problem with statements like that from coaches is the “we want guys that want to be here part”.  Does anyone really believe Ford or any other coach would be here if someone was willing to pay him double what they are getting here? They wouldn’t and the same holds true for players now.  No need to act like players are somehow the bad guys here now that they are working the system just like coaches have for decades.

Frank is Ford's puppet is all I was trying to say really. 
I agree defense needs to be the key. Which is why a guy like Pryor doesn't excite me. A guy with his body type and athleticism can block shots in JUCO but will likely really struggle in D1. He did at Boise and its just hard to believe one year in JUCO changed him completely. He does excite me on the offensive end if he's used properly but I think we all agree defense needs be the priority. 

Pryor was terrible at Boise so its hard to get too excited but seems like he really made the most of a JUCO year and would be a good fit on this roster and would contribute. Him and a big strong traditional big seems like it'd be a solid enough offseason

This isn't just a Travis Ford thing, many coaches have said almost the exact same thing.  That said, it just smacks of absolute hypocrisy when the coach saying it has used an agent to get a multiyear guaranteed $2.5 million per year deal.

LHJ led the team in steals per minute, 1 steal every 21 minutes…Yuri had 1 steal every 26 minutes. LHJ had 1 turnover every 16 minutes, Yuri had 1 TO every 9 minutes.
Many other factors to consider with player performance but when a freshman is that sure-handed, he deserves more minutes the next season—way more…
