  1. RL has the best chance right now. He is not old, could still physically develop. He has something that is hard to find in an NBA big, a good outside shot. Further, he can score and he not scared to shoot it, which is important in the NBA. If he ever develops a great inside game he is a lock. DE is next and has a long shot as a 2 or 3.
  2. Was tOSU the village idiot when it waited long enough to hire Urban Meyer?
  3. I remember Evansville from the Crews days. They were really good teams. How many times have they been to the dance since he left? Zero?
  4. I hate to be the spoil sport, but it will be hard for this team to be as good or better than last years team. It is a simple numbers game. If you assume that KM, MM, JJ, and DE will be the same, then we have to find a replacement for BC's numbers. CE could up his point total. So could CR or JM. However, it is hard to imagine our point total increasing in the post to equal BC's 15 points (?). Our defense has been holding opponents to around 61-62 ppg under RM. I don't think last year changed anything, but it may have. Someone can run the numbers. We need one of the bigs to really step up this year, or all of them need to step up. That said, I do not think defense will be how we are as good next year, we will need the points.
  5. although an 8 or 9 seed looks bad, anywhere we are placed we will have to beat a tough team to make a run. At least you make a big splash when you are an 8/9 beating a 1 seed in the second round. (see northern iowa a few years ago)
  6. If no one else will, I would really like to congratulate UNM for its win the other night. UNM's fans' interest in posting on the Billiken's board is a testament to how far SLU has come this year. It is patently obvious that UNM fans want to parade their own program on this board so they can rub shoulders with a program they would like to count as peers. Kuddos to them! UNM is a very respectable program, and I feel wonderful knowing that UNM is looking up to us and trying to emulate our program. It is rare for any mid-major to be in this spot, to be a key leader among strong mid-majors, and so I think all SLU fans should really breathe it in! To be able to count the UNM faithful as SLU followers is an honor. Thank you UNM, thank you very much!
  7. This isn't a bad team, and it is certainly possible that we could lose to them, but I would not worry about it too much. They lost to MSU by 30, and MSU isn't that good this year. Also, we are not playing our 4th game in 6 days. Even if we play bad we can squeak by them by about 5-10 points.
  8. After watching the last 10 minutes of the IU-UK game, I really appreciate Majerus. IU let them go to the hoop about 10 straight times, without a timeout, and only about 1 foul, during that stretch. It is amazing that IU won the game. It made me realize just how horrible a college coach can be.
  9. Both of these games validated SLU very nicely. We beat both teams solidly and they at least pushed two highly ranked teams. Maybe SLU is really at top 10 team. It is too early to tell, but the odds are looking better for us.
  10. Because SLU is sleeping with the teacher.
  11. This game really summed up what this team is like. We are a smart hustle team. We do not have a rebounding advantage. We really on not having turn overs and on shooting a good percentage. However, when we are tired, we have too many turnovers and we can miss shots. Look at Jett's drives to the hoop, if he wasn't tired those are 3 point plays. So that is it, we cannot have turnovers and shoot an average or bad percentage. We can have one or the other, but not both at the same time. That and LMU is a decent team that played out of its mind in the second half.
  12. I wouldn't worry too much. Most people realize that message boards are loaded with crazy people subject to Tourette's after loses. That said... &*%*^$*&(*#(&$*&(*#$(.
  13. What we learned is that without solid rebounding, and with average shooting, we will allow anyone to stick with us. However, with good shooting, and average rebounding, we can beat anyone. It will be an exciting and frustrating year!
  14. They beat South Carolina a couple days ago, and then got run over by UNC. UNC hung 102 on TSU, but one thing to note, UNC won by 33, SLU beat TSU by 34.
  15. This really hit me during the game as well. Either way though, last year Conklin went into a shell against 6'8" or greater PF/C's, and today he ate a very athletic front court alive. Case in point: Aziz N'Diaye, 7'0" 260 lbs.
  16. This thread seems funny to me. The strength of this team is how many players are solid scoring options, primarily because KM was not on the team last year. Here are the tiers, with strongest on the left. Tier 1 - KM MM DE BC JJ Tier 2 - KC RL CE If we lose it will not be because we cannot score in general, it will be because we do not have a solid inside presence and we are really cold from the outside.
  17. At the end of last year we started MM KC DE BC CR, and had the best run of the year. CR got pulled quick for RL, but CR helped set the tone. I think we should do the same this year: KM JJ DE BC CR I also threw in JJ over KC as well.
  18. Either he is excited, and he is actively trying to hide his teams strengths in these exhibitions( and in Canada), or he sees he will get canned if the team is horrible. Either way, why not act confident. Truthfully though, I don't think Majerus cares about his job, he is probably telling it like it is.
  19. I understand the point of posts like these, they are reassuring and nice, but until we go to the elite eight we are going to read a lot into these games.
  20. Well, teams that I think would have a better frontcourt, just guessing, without any research, include at least: 11/20 Washington 11/24 Boston College 11/25 76 Classic 11/27 76 Classic 12/3 Portland 12/31 @New Mexico 1/4 @Dayton 1/11 Temple 1/25 @Xavier There were a couple more last year in the A10, but I do not remember which ones, or if they will be as good this year. The frontcourt was weak until the end of the year last year, hopefully they pick up and improve upon where they left off.
  21. What is the general feel of the Board as to how we will do? 1) Were the last two games of the trip in Canada an aberration? Were they a sign of things to come? 2) Can our forwards actually compete against strong competition? 3) Will DE regress this year? He seemed to have a subpar trip in Canada. 4) Will CE get over his most recent injury? 5) Will JM or GG be even remotely decent this year? 6) Will RL be better or worse for the team this year? 7) Can MM, JJ, and KM co-exist peacefully? 8) Will KC be a solid contributor, or hold the team back this year? 9) Will JB contribute with less minutes than he had in the MAC? 10) Can CR have a breakthrough year?
  22. I couldn't name the walk-on players. Kind of felt cheated.
  23. Maybe he realized that he had no shot at the job without some head coaching experience.
