Cred did you even read the article? It was almost completely trash not even worthy of being printed in the Enquirer! He couldn't even get his facts right. Did you ever take a journalism class in high school? You have only posted six times on this board, you are in no position to call Nark a racist or anybody a racist for that matter. To do so was incredibly immature on your part.

I read it over and over again and agreed with everything he said. The fact of the matter is that this author spoke his mind. This is America. Get over your love affair with Tommie Liddell III. Do we have any NCAA appearances in his four glorious years at SLU?

Who are you to call people "credible?" Do you have a credible stamp that you carry around stamping things "credible?" This is America. We have a right to an opinion and a voice. The fact that he isn't Tom Timmermans and the fact you call out an African-American journalist is appalling to me.

So wait African-Americans can call out Tom Timmerman and other whites but whites can't speak their mind about blacks? Your logic is flawed. You're saying that Tom can't have an opinion but only a black journalist can have one? Nobody called him out because he was black. They called him out because his article was a hack job and a journalistic failure.

Roy, your comments here are some of the most ridiculous you have ever posted. Do you personally know any of the facts? The answer is no! The university has reached out in every way possible to Tommie and his family.

Six years ago Tommie Liddell was an athletic, but immature kid who was almost as unlikely to obtain a college degree from a top 100 university as he was to make the NBA. Street agents tried to steer the kid to some schools where he would have been used and spit up without a degree or a professional basketball career in sight and others have continued try to steer him down a different path since he started at SLU. The university, including Rick Majerus and his staff, have invested enormous time, money, energy, and resources to attempt to keep Tommie on the right path despite some negative external pressures. Whether or not Majerus yelled at Tommie too much in practice or forced Tommie to run a system that didn't best fit his offensive skills is absolutely irrelevant in the big picture.

You are racist if you think that about a story in the St. Louis American, a paper that has been the voice of the African-American community in St. Louis for decades and will continue to be for centuries, is full of lies.

Cred, I may be a lot of things, but I am certainly not a racist. Mo Scott IS a liar and an unbelievably sloppy journalist.

Billiken, again, who are you to decide that?!?! Do you have a journalism degree from Maryland, Syracuse, Missouri or Kansas? Are you published?

THIS IS YOUR OPINION! Just like it was the opinion of Mo Scott to call out Liddell III. Does anyone ever read Rick Reilly or Peter King and not go, "well, I really like Tiger Woods, and the fact you said he is struggling following surgery is really pissing me off?" Probably not, because many educated readers will sit back and go, "well, maybe he's right, but Tiger has been missing some easy putts." Calm down. Tommie Liddell isn't going to knock on your door and thank you for your support.

The Post-Dispatch would never run an article critical of Tommie Liddell III, even though there is substantial and physical evidence of his performance peaking midway through his freshman year. I applaud the St. Louis American; not only is their Bill Cosby tough love stance for fellow blacks a positive thing, Mo Scott has earned himself at least one more avid follower.

I was saying as a whole it is racist to call something in the St. Louis American a bunch of lies, not you in particular. Didn't mean to single you out. Sorry sir. The American is the African-American voice. We are a proud group that has been subjected to the torment of so-called "journalists" like the members of this board for far too long.

One love,

C. Red

Reminds me of Ozzie Smith and his continued hate of TLR and his bitching/hurtful feeling b/c of Royce Clayto and his self-imposed exile from the Cardinals. When TLR is gone I, for one, will never support and view Ozzie the same.

hmmm. i agree the situations are similar, and ironically i cant wait for larussa to be gone and would never support him after the way he treated ozzie.

I'd rather read a guy who has an opinion, rather than Timmerman, who has to dumb down his articles for the "3.5 million adults who read the PD each week." I'd like to know how many children read the paper, since we obviously have a literacy issue in our country.

Mo Scott -- keep up the good work, brother. One love.

'68 Mexico Olympics. Fists raised.

Why come here and make outrageous accusations of racism because someone does not agree with you? Many of us are very involved in the black community and yet we do not agree with Mr. Scott. So that makes us all racists!!!!!!!!!! You are obviously not a Billikens fan so why not go to another site and leave us alone?

He screwed up alot of "facts". Thats what makes it poor journalism. I'm sorry wasn't this an article slamming Majerus not Liddell.

I'm a journalist and that was a terrible column - names spelled wrong, grammar errors, etc.

I gotta imagine this is metz putting us on.

Either way, your argument is baffling since the piece was critical of Majerus.

Someone needs to remove this Cred guy. To call nark racist is inappropriate or even people who gave their opinions on the article racist is rediculous. No person on this board has posted racially motivated comments and to accuse as such is out of order. If you can't read people's opinions on this board, take them for what they're worth, comment or not comment (whichever you choose) and not do so in a mature manner, I suggest you find another hobby or join another site. People on this site will disagree with each other a lot, but will not make mountains out of molehills.

And Metz, if it's you---it has been a while since I've seen you in person. Hope you are doing well. Let's just try and play nice on the message board this time!

ARB, if I'm supposed to value opinions, as you call them, why hasn't anyone validated the opinion of Mr. Scott? Where are my stone throwers? He who is without sin? Where are they? Please, step to the front of the line. Opinions are just that. Take sides, that's fine, just don't take credibility away from someone just because they dared to voice their opinion. Where would we be if people who weren't literate in the Civil Rights movement discredited Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and all of a sudden, we just took this guy's word as gospel? We'd be fighting segregation and racism to a degree not seen since reconstruction.

The St. Louis American isn't the P-D, nor is it the black gospel of St. Louis. They don't have the copy editors who keep their MU journalism degree framed by their desk and look at it daily while picking their lunch out with a toothpick. Scott might have had "other articles" to finish before a deadline. Maybe he was rushed to put something out, and maybe he didn't do his homework, but let the man speak his mind. Who are you to determine what is right? Not a single one of us has access to Majerus or his players, and if you did, you wouldn't have the courage to undermine or critique what he is doing. Majerus is a flawed human being and a flawed coach and he will be the first one to admit it. But the media can't always print human interest pieces on Liddell's interest in pursuing a career in adolescent development; they have to be critical.

I enjoyed Mr. Scott's piece because he had the audacity to cross all of you punch drinkers and make you gasp and blush about the failures of Majerus and Liddell.

If it is a crime to speak out against people, then call the police and have Mr. Scott arrested.

ARB, you say if I can't read people's opinions, be they right or wrong, well Mr. Scott should get a free pass then. Who are we to judge? Where are the stone throwers so they can get to the front of the line??

I question whether you can read at all.

Just looked up the McNair Scholars program at SLU- there are 3 guys and none are from Portland and none are named Casey. I'm also not surprised to justify his ridiculous new persona Metz would choose a minority scholarship program. He likes to swing the pendulum as far as possible to make a point; after all, he's been responsible for all the racist content this board has seen.

How about a quick Metz game? Which one of these three McNair Scholarship qualifications does Metz have? From SLU's website:

"We encourage you to apply for the McNair Scholars program if...

-You have a strong interest and background in any academic field and have at least a 3.0 GPA and sophomore standing by the end of the spring semester;

-You are a US citizen or have permanent resident status; and

-You are a member of the first generation in your family to complete a college degree and meet federal income guidelines, or you are member of a group that is underrepresented in graduate education: African American, Hispanic, Native American, or Alaskan Native."

If you guessed B: US citizen, then you are correct.

LOL, he just keeps getting more pathetic.

Coming up with a fake name, pretending to be part of a scholarship program for low-income minority families, and directing phrases like "brother" and "one love" to a writer for the St. Louis American?

This might actually be a new low, and that is saying something.
