I think landing 5 A-10 level players from that group is pie in the sky stuff as well. The 2 that everybody wants are being recruited at a higher level than the A-10 so the odds are not in our favor there. A third kid bolted to a 30K per year academy to develop his game and raise his profile.

What makes me optimistic about the 2008 class is that there are also at least 5 kids in the KC area who are A-10 caliber. One of them, 6-8 Willie Reed, has already made a visit to SLU per recruiting guru Eric Bossi. If we could land 3 of the top 10 kids from St. Louis metro/southern Illinois and another from KC, I'd call that a solid class.

At the risk of now being accused of being Aheaarns mother too....this is what I have been saying all along. How can anyone of the current BS supporters feel like SLU is in a lock to secure kids in the top half of the 13 D1 players available? Track record? Assistant relationships? What is it? It is Ok to think like this but what basis does anyone have for taking this position? I would also suggest, that more committments need to come in the top half vs. the bottom half of the player pool if we are going to sustain this years projected success.

3Star, Kansas City will be no cake walk in the recruiting arena due to the increased success of WSU and Creighton. Both are approximately three hours from KC and both will have a longer success story to tell potential recruits. It will not be easy to out recruit Altman and Turgeon for top notch KC talent.

On a complete different note one of the items I spoke about earlier is getting Hughes back taking at least an interst in SLU basketball. The Hughes relationship if worked on could benefit SLU in recruiting. Here is one example below of when a meeting with a NBA player benefited the local university.

Marquette adds commitment: Patrick Hazel is not the most highly touted recruit Tom Crean has ever committed, but he is the latest. The 6-foot-7 power forward from Blair Academy in New Jersey visited Marquette from Thursday to Saturday, then called Crean on Sunday morning to accept the scholarship, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Among the recruiting advantages was a meeting with another Blair product, specifically Charlie Villanueva. Hazel told the paper he got to hang with the new Milwaukee Buck while visiting Marquette.

Ians senior season....HUGE YEAR

MORE OPTIMISTIC ABOUT THE STATE OF THE PROGRAM

COACH NEEDS TO BREAK THROUGH AND GET IN THE TOURNAMENT......ONE MORE TIME.........COACH NEEDS TO BREAK THOUGH AND GET IN THE TOURNAMENT

UNREAL.......One of the most talented teams that dropped in their laps

and they wanted to and got in one of the if now the weakest conferences in the country...which most dont EVEN have a football program(by the way...you do not have enough money to play football??)which puts all their focus and monies on basketball and

COACH NEEDS TO BREAK THROUGH AND GET IN THE TOURNAMENT..........

NEEDS TO BREAK THOUGH AND GET IN THE TOURNAMENT

can see why st louis has been and always will be a minor minor league basketball college basketball team and town.

WHO CARES IF THESE GUYS HAVE THEIR DOUBTS(coach needs to break through and get in the tournament)

what confidence..typical st louis fan

they get tiresome

SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE THE ONE WHO HAS DOUBTS

what a tradition

Oh well........you still have the weak far away basketball conference you chose to go in to fall back on

Wait a minute

hmmm

no tradition there either

you arent seriously telling us siu has anykind of tradition are you?

56-42

pretty sad that you are trolling other schools boards when you dont even have a winning streak vs the billikens.

56-42

now if you cant even compete with us, and if we are all the things you said, then what does that say about siu?

While SLU may own the series record there is no question that SIU has passed us by as a presentantly more successful program. Think about it if SLU has a successful year like most seem to think and make it into the big dance all we would have to do is make the tournament the next 5 years just be equal. You have to give them credit for sustaining the success Weber started. There is only one way to shut them up and that is to go down to Carbondale and beat them in December. This will be a test of where we think we are as a team.

Dont you and the nashville truckstop know... those games are just to run plays and GET better for the end of the year.

IT IS CALLED COACHING AND LEARNING.

Oh,forgot that is YOUR game of the year.

Other schools like SIU for instance play for the big dance.....Winning records....and winning tradition

SWEET SIXTEENS ETC ETC ETC

You and nashville truckstop......quit crying

AND LEARN TO DANCE.......LOL

Ps....You and your tradition school are going to get in the 21 century and finally spend a litte money and get a football team, are you not.

Oh yes...you have to get a golf team back...man,,your school is drained.

Sure you will fess up some monies for the good of the your program.

Dont you and your "TRADITION SCHOOL" have any money at all.

Sure with your help it is just around the corner.....like taking years and years to get a gym to play in.

Finally getting a gym....oh forgot..a scaled down one.something to do with money again.

Lets see you had and have a college basketball team...and never had an arena to play in.Hmmmmmmmm

DID I HEAR YOU SAY TRADITION

You are a couple of dumbs ones.

You are on this board all the time...

Suggestion..why dont you and truckstop spend less time hyping up your backward program and get with it.Start fundraisers..give out of your pocket..do anything.

Oh too challenging for you.Dont want to open your pockets like other college schools.

Does that mean you will never get a football team in your lifetime???

Ok since you do not have any deep pockets for your college

How about baby steps ..to get up with at least the junior colleges in the country....at least a golf team???

Asking too much?? Just a little time off here posting and a little work.

Come on ..Take one for the team.

Like all the other colleges do.

Sell lemonade...sell your sweaters..lol

Dont you want a tradition??

If you are representative of SIU grads ... There is one thing SLU has you beat on by leaps and bounds ... An education.

However, the other SIU people I know, don't seem quite as mentally challenged as you are ... so it's probably not the school just you. Seriously though ... I hope you aren't giving any money to SIU. Save it for new skirting, or better yet ... enroll in some classes at the local Jr high, in 4-5 years you may be able to get your GED.

Long term ... we have a pretty good record against you. Short term we beat you last year rather easily. What exactly do you have going for you except a criminal for your best player ... who by the way, doesn't shoot much better than Dwayne Polk ... just shoots more often. Kepp tossing it up there Tatum ... it'll eventually go in.

Speaking of football Non D1 football doesn't count.

If???If???If

Sorry bud,you are the one who TRIED to talk smack about tradition.Just having to set you straight.

Do not have anything to do with SIU,,but you guys seem to have a big complex about them.

Learn to read, when are you going to get some sports programs and some tradition.

Your problem is it will not be in your lifetime.Boo Hoo

Why didnt you and the others put your money where you mouth is.Instead of not answering and facing the FACTS.Please quit crying about it. No foresight or thinking ahead.

For such a "education" you didnt get your monies worth for your GED.

You guys have to even try to run dirt on 18,19,20 year old kids because you cannot answer to tradition.

Wow little guy...you dont want to talk smack about college kids do you..

Yes St.Louis uie with the coach eaker or whatever his last name was..sure you st louis uie guys remember your coaches name...and his great run program..Will stop wet behind the ears...your buddies know you dont want people to bring up the coach who took his place.

Dang those were the just some of the years, now were they not.Your traditon and education

Didnt you have a local center, ask someone faceless,a few years back..

(Not really into naming and trying to run mud through young men.Unlike you Classless..But you are now smart enough to not go there, are you not?? But since you want to bring up stuff.)

How about right there next to your eh school about 6 11 or something a few years back..You know the one who was going to save your program..LMAO

You guys couldnt keep him out of trouble for years..everyone KNOWS about how your school looked the other way on everything....for your savior??????EDUCATION

btw...when any other college wouldnt TOUCH him.. WOULDNT TOUCH HIM...not only about the ethics....the other little colleges he might of been able to go to knew he wasnt that good either.

btw ...have seen both players, polk and tatum play many games in high school...which both were a no brainer..good players

Sounds like you have big ISSUES little bud.

IS IT CALLED BURNT....thanks for showing your true self.

Now go use that GED degree you got in crimeland ...and hit all of those Fortune 500 LMAO companies in your cowtown.

<<>>>LMAO...He wants to make the rules too.

Some good games on a fall saturday afternoon ..Holy Cross and Notre Dame should be some of the many good games today..while you get to twiddle your fingers...Can understand your pain and frustration.Maybe that is also why you CALL out kids going through their teens and young adult life.

Trying to understand why you are so frustrated.Must be that you cant even get enough revenue to compete with a division 2 or D3 college...you didnt have to tell us...We know you cant compete, even with the small colleges.

College is supposed to well rounded, you didnt know that.

You have binders on.

btw...South Bend isnt that big a city is it??????? Or other small campus towns.

With your classless ged education, would think you could comprehend and know the answer.

St.Louis is a bigger Town than South Bend isnt it??.Cannot call st louis a city anymore but would bet st louis is a bigger Town

Keep trying to make excuses for your eh well rounded college.

that was one of the most rambling disjointed posts i have ever read on a message board. i think you pretty much made skip's point.

the one thing i did comprehend is your accusation of folks at billikens.com having an siu complex?

how many of us are posting smack on the siu message board? but you are on our board. who has the complex?

why dont you take smack and put it away. at least beat us once then you might have a reason to be a little cocky.
