Just noticed today that the Post is now listing both IL and MU upcoming mens and womens bb games but no listing for SLU. Up to now they had only shown the football schedule - not sure if this was an oversight or something that they plan to do all year. Bonwich what is the story?

Surprised?

The SL Post has systematicaly sabotaged SLU sports for 40+ years.

Every year there are countless examples of subtle disrespect of the SLU basketball program through lack of coverage, acknolwedgment of achievement, placement (or non placement) of articles.

How about that picture of Cassity in Exh. game #1 sitting on the floor very, very awkwardly trying to get a loose ball? Of all the pictures they took, thats the one they put in the paper: they should have gone all the way with a subline: "SLU's Cassity looking stupid".

MU shills, all of them.

I like the food section, though.

Yes but they have never not listed us and our game times - that is what caught me by surprise.

It will only get worse with Mizzou now taking over Ole Miss as the Whipping Post of the Southeastern Conference. Looking forward to seeing the co-eds in Columbia try to wear a sundress for a Thursday nighter against Mississippi State. Must-see-TV.

Uh huh. The vast media conspiracy against the Bills clearly explains why this item appears approximately six inches directly below the Calendar items:

Ex-Billiken Davis a finalist for Major League Soccer MVP • Brad Davis, who played at Chaminade High and SLU, is one of three finalists for the Most Valuable Player award in Major League Soccer. He led the league with 16 assists while playing for the Houston Dynamo. Davis is also a finalist for the league's Humanitarian of the Year award. The MVP winner will be announced on Nov. 19. The humanitarian winner will be named Wednesday. (Tom Timmermann)

Y'all are seeing black helicopters here. We have a saying in the newsroom when things go wrong: "Never attribute to malice what can more easily be attributed to simple stupidity." B)

I do not think Missouri shills care about soccer too much as a threat. At all. Ever.

Personally, I think this is a ridiculously good picture, but I also think that Chris Lee is the best sports photographer in America, if not the world.

Posted Image

On deadline stories, the photographer has pretty much sole discretion on what gets turned in. Chris, by the way, went to Northwestern and has a degree in mechanical engineering.

If anyone would like to play editor and pick another shot that should have been featured, go to www.stltoday.com

and put "Stritch" in the search box upper left. I might have gone with the one that has BC and GG trying to block, but it's a vertical, and those don't fit as well in almost all of our layouts.

If you haven't noticed the 40+ year SL Post bias for MU and against SLU, you probably haven't figured out that there will never be a Richard Simmons, Jr.

Now that I think about it, you're right. The sports department at the P-D has meetings to discuss how they can shortchange SLU's coverage and then the writers all laugh manaically, smoke cigars, high-five each other and sing the Mizzou fight song. It's all perfectly rational.
