The "This team was better with Ian on the bench" argument may be one of the more asanine things I have read on this board. Looking at the boxsocre will do you absolutely nothing besides tell you the final score of the game. There is a reason why coaches watch game tape. If they could see every thing a player does on a boxscore, then why would they bother wasting time with tape? This team wasn't going anywhere with Soderberg, Majerus, or Jesus as coach. Who cares about the NIT? Who was the NIT champ last year? 3 years ago? Exactly.

So because Majerus is making a million a year, he is supposed to wipe these guys asses for them? What if he made 25,000 a year? Would he not be held as liable? I am not holding Majerus blameless. But on the issue of Players v. Majerus, I will side with the guy who has won something before, not the players who have won 0 before. The players are the ones who need to make baskets. Majerus can coach until hes purple in the face, but if they dont master the art of putting ball through rim... Blaming Majerus for all that ails this team is absolutely ridiculous. To think this team would be any better record wise under any other coach this side of Phil Jackson is foolish. The beautiful thing about all of this is no matter if you lose by 100, 1, 30, or score only 20 points, it still counts as just 1 loss.

What part did you say they get that from Rick? Him having a "negative attitude", your words not mine, make them not play for him? How does that work? Have they never been criticized before? I am sure they have, because these guys are far from perfect. Sounds like a weak bunch to me. Maybe Harris Stowe has an opening for Tommie and pals. I am still confused how 15% shooting in Rick's fault as well. That seemed to be the biggest problem. Not making shots. As far as I am concerned, they have a $30,000/year job with a pretty solid expense account. Grow up, grow a pair, and act like adults. If this is the worst boss they ever have, I would say theyll be pretty lucky. If they don't like it, go elsewhere.

This is by far the best assessment of the Majerus era. With the old coach our ceiling this year was the NIT. Who cares about the NIT? Our ceiling in years coming was NIT with maybe an NCAA first round loss snuck in there. Our ceiling with Majerus this year is probably still now the NIT. However, our ceiling in coming years is unlimited. Really the only games that matter the rest of the year are in Atlantic City. We will win enough games to get there, and then we've got 3 games to get to the NCAA. Does anyone really care about the NIT? Id rather not go than win 1 and lose 1 in the NIT.

I should rephrase. This should put to rest the idea that this is all Majerus' fault. The players shot 15%. I noticed on the boxscore last night that Majerus had 0 field goal attempts. Big TL3 and KL had their fair share. Time to nut up boys. Majerus is a damn good coach, proven many times before he inherited this quasi-20winifyoucountdivision2,3,4,opponents group of sallys. Any chance they could just wear blank blue and white jerseys next time out? No SLU markings at all. Maybe they could borrow some jerseys from harris stowe, because thats what they played like. 7-48. This entire team should be ashamed. I could have stood at half court and hit 7 shots out of damn near 50. This should finally put to rest the Majerus criticism. When your SO CALLED best players score 4 points and shoot 2-21, you know the team has problems. Majerus had absolutely 0 affect on their weak shots. This is an embarassment for the entire program, school, institution, alumni, and everyone involved with THE Saint Louis University. Might I suggest benching our so called stars for a few games. Tommie and Kevin, grab some pine. Yuck. Disgusting. If they are going to put forth this kind of effort, if you can even call it that, lets start Knollmeyer, Relphorde, Mitchell, Peyton, and Mike Jones. Make the superstars sit. I guarantee there are intramural teams that would have put up a better fight. Seriously. Scout the rec for talent. The beautiful part is... IT CANNOT GET ANY WORSE! This makes me sick. Yuck.

I agree, as far as I am concerned, we have 0 starters coming back next year. Majerus has done this before. The players have never.

I really liked the quote about "SLU is more likely to attract students from the east coast than Valley towns like Peoria, etc. I guarantee there are more SLU students from Peoria, Illinois; Wichita, Kansas; or Omaha, Nebraska than from the east coast cities represented by the A10. Maybe these guys should just nut up and play basketball. I am a lot more likely to side with the coach who has done it before rather than the players who never have. The court is still 94 feet long and the basket is still 10 feet high. 20% shooting aint gonna cut it, 30% shooting aint gonna cut it, and 38.5% for the team aint gonna cut it.

Well earlier today someone made reference of BS mentioning motivation and heart last year when he was clamoring for a Drejaj type. You don't need a team full of guys to bust their ass and want to win, you just need a couple. Does anyone on this team remind you in the slightest of Anthony Drejaj? No. Any team with AD would not have been whooped by a mid level team by 41. Maybe someone to come out of the timeouts to pump up the crowd, the kind of guy taht will get in someones face. KILLER INSTINCT. Thats what this team needs.

That damn Majerus, he raised the basket to 12 feet high and shortened the length of the court to 84 feet. Every member of that team should be waking up everyday, clapping their hands, and thanking Biondi that Majerus is on board. I'll side with the Hall of Fame coach that wins 3 outta every 4 games, 10 times outta 10

I guess i'd rather have Brad too, if I wanted to make the NIT all-1st/2nd-round team every 3rd year, and then spend a few years toiling away in a 3rd rate euroleague. But I think I'd rather have Majerus for just about every other possible reason. This kind of statement really doesn't even deserve attention because it is so ridiculous. Sigh. So frustrating.

The old phrase...this is why they play the games. And remember, this was a recruiting class that was thrown together in what? 3 months? Imagine what they can do with a full year to recruit for 09. Damn.

A year from now one of the best recruiting classes in school history plus 2 returning all conference type guards will be running out of the tunnel and onto the court at a brand new, jam packed, screaming loud, firework exploding, rockin arena. They will be followed out by a future Hall of Fame coach along with one of the best staffs in the country. Chew on that for a minute
