  1. I'm all in anywhere besides Albequerque, Portland, or Greensboro.
  2. Big guys usually don't produce until 1 1/2 or 2 years in the system. Even though he's saying this doesn't mean JM is better than CR now. I'd expect to see some flashes of good things from manning at this time next year.
  3. Ideally we beat X next week and they still crack the top 50. That would put us at 4-2 against the top 50. Also Porter did beat Bradley, but it was a bracket buster game so a non-con matchup.
  4. Easy solution. Get liquored up in the cheap seats, scout some empty blue seats, move down at the under 8 or 4 timeout. Or SLU could sell those at 75 a piece and put 15 large towards the bottom line. Sure that could pay for the charter to the first weekend of the tourney.
  5. We want X to win every game for the rest of the year except February 28th. UMass is always going to be a loss. It won't wind up as a bad loss regardless, so them beating X doesn't do us any good really.
  6. Weber caved to the booster pressure to recruit these high profile Chicago types. They didn't fit his system, and it led to his downfall. He will be successful at a mid major type school. Weber should have parachuted out of there and into a mid major job last offseason, similar to Greg McDermott. Also - I don't see how Stevens winds up at Illinois. I think Shaka Smart is the favorite to go there.
  7. Our fearless leader is celebrating his 64th birthday today.
  8. bull****. This is a bull**** excuse. There are no "bad" seats in that whole damn arena. Stop making excuses for these shits. A majority of student sections (and ones much, much better than ours) are in the end zone next to the band. What do you suggest, giving the students the entire lower bowl? Would that satisfy them to show up on a Wednesday for Richmond? Or would we just have an empty lower bowl. I am betting on an empty lower bowl. Oh and the band is usually more vocal than the students anyways.
  9. I would have killed to have an on campus arena and not deal with the pain in the ass of getting to the Kiel. I would have also killed to have not sat through the Soderberg years where our best hope was to maybe knock off whatever ranked team was coming in that night. Its a shame that the students don't appreciate it.
  10. Case of the typical St Louis sports fan. Cardinals games are dreadfully dull. Rams games are the same way. I haven't been to a Blues game since they've been winning, but die hard hockey fans tend to be a different breed anyways. Put on your polo shirts with the team logo on the left chest and go to the game, give a polite golf clap for some bull**** hustle play that leads to an out, tell everyone you are the best fans in (insert sport here), and then make sure to get out before the traffic gets bad.
  11. Is this the academic equivalent to the "just win baby" sports attitude? But really the basketball teams success in the NCAA will have a huge effect on the donations coming in. Hell they could pay off the Fetz if we make the final four. Sweet 16 and you're looking at a major overhaul of some buildings. NIT? A free set of steak knifes.
  12. Id be shocked to see RM not come back, minus some miracle run to the title game next year or John Cook interference again. He has worked hard for 4+ years and built a foundation for sustained success. Why not stick around and enjoy the fruits of his labor.
  13. A week off?!? We need to be in the MVC. They don't take a week off ever!
  14. You guys are all stupid. This is obviously the only choice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d46sWCdmees
  15. Wouldn't that be the chances of winning the conference tourney? Which most schools would be under 50%?
  16. I would love to get Illinois in the tourney. We would destroy them. But it looks like they might be on the outside looking in.
  17. In the Idol v. Billiken debate, many local advertisers might side with Billiken basketball. A new positive for the broadcasting of many road and home games is the steady integration of DVR or TiVo into just about every cable or satellite fed home. Many of the locals are switching focus from prime to live events, sports, news, etc. While the networks will still spout about an 11 rating on Idol, they won't take into account the amount of people that are recording it to watch later or pausing at the start to FF through commercial, generally grouped called time shifting. This makes live sports that more attractive. A station with weak prime programming like Ch11 could easily take a chance on Billiken basketball in the near future. I think they could make it a profitable venture as well.
  18. I don't buy the excuse that they were fired up and all that. I do agree that the athletic department, probably SID, should have never let any of them talk postgame. Mack should have yanked them when they were up 20 with 2 minutes left. He probably would have avoided this whole thing. But this wasn't their first interview after a close game. At the most basic of levels, he should have known better.
  19. There is only so much an institution or coach can do for an adult. He should have known better. Although it is great to see the life taken out of Tu, even better is that Chris Mack has been possessed by the ghost of Brian Gregory. Good days ahead for X.
  20. I am not familiar with the dollar amount for SLU to put together a road game on tv, but for Bradley it was around $10,000 for a road game. That does not include the pre-empting of any sort of prime time tv for a local station. Yes we do need a better TV deal. Has anyone ever looked at the footprint of the A10 vs. some of the regional sports networks like Fox Sports, Comcast, etc? Also, maybe there is an opportunity in this next cycle of getting into the new NBC network, formerly Versus.
  21. Yeah, it is so terribly sad that a guy acted like an idiot before, during, and after the game and now is suffering the consequences for that. Cry me a river Tu Stupid. I feel so bad for him. Yuck.
  22. Woah woah woah back up. I thought Vegas didn't move lines to even out the money?
  23. +1. We should be expecting this team to sweep. Anything less is a disappointment.
  24. I don't really think the student idea works. You weaken the student section for starters. I'd rather have the student section in full throat in one location. If the argument is to spread loud vocal students out, then you run the risk of pissing off the people who paid their $ that want to sit and lounge throughout the game. Mixing oil and water. I just don't see the schools logIc in not selling those individually throughout the season. If things work out how they are supposed to, the fact these were sold as single game tickets won't matter. For these seats to be sold, SLU has to become a hot ticket. If it becomes a hot ticket, the "but they sold them as singles last year" argument won't hold water. If there are approx 200 of these, they could sell for $50 each. Perhaps that 10,000 a game could be used to pay for a few charter flights.
