  1. Doug is on a plane from tampa to stl now
  2. I agree. This isn't about a budget issue. There is enough of a budget to perform at a level higher than this.
  3. Let's make it a place for the real fans only! C'mon we don't really need anyone else there to spoil our enjoyment do we?
  4. He is the Assistant Vice President for University Communication.
  5. I understand that he is a regular, fulltime employee of St. Joe's. The ESPN gig is on the side.
  6. And I thought that he didn't sit because his skin was pulled so tight after cosmetic surgery that he is unable to do it! I agree that Pitino has his own style, but some of these other newer coaches who are so animated that I can't help but believe that it distracts the team. I think that the seasoned coaches know when to do it to have an impact. I think UB has been under better control this season compared to last year (and even then it wasn't too bad). Though from the brief TV shot after DP phantom travel at the end of the game it looked like UB was going to pull a Bobby Knight and launch his chair on the court.
  7. I think that coaches do too much on the sidelines as well, however it is a much different game than 20 years ago and the stakes are much higher for these men. Great win last night by the players and coaches.
  8. I agree that both the players and coaches need to learn to win. We have outscored our opponents in the first half in 11 of 14 games (11-3). We have outscored our opponents in the second half 5 times (5-9). We have not yet won a game when we trailed at half. We have lost 4 games that we have led at half. I'll chalk it up to growing pains for now, but isn't this about the time of year that the national announcers start claiming that freshmen are no longer freshmen?
  9. I know of at least 4 guys in my part of town who are in sales that would jump on purchasing multiple season tickets (at whatever price gets them good seats) to the new stadium if the team was consistently winning. Bandwagon jumpers to be sure, but they have the resources to get the seats they want.
  10. I am glad he talked about it in the article. He will get the project done. He is quite the dynamic leader. Good to see him receive the recognition.
  11. BS He misjudged the dunk. It is a testament to his athletic ability that he was able to convert it. The Iowa player was dirty, but not on that play. Glad to hear you made the base team in the military, who cares!
  12. The team can't fix the officiating, it can address the shooting. Energy should be spent addressing a very severe flaw in our game. We could just drop the half court offense altoghether and play 40 minutes of hell.
  13. We lost because we can't shoot. Blaming the refs is off base. They may be bad, but this team simply cannot shoot the basketball. Until it is fixed, we are in trouble against real competition.
  14. If it was the breakaway, I don't think he was touched. Watched the game on Charter and they showed it several times...he was too far under the basket to make the dunk he wanted so he had to adjust his body resulting in having no feet beneath him. I agree it was a physical game, but that play had no severe physical play IMO.
  15. I agree, it is time to end the balls. That is the 3rd game in the last few years where I remember this happening.
  16. Terrific game last night. A lot of players stepped up and showed they want to compete. Great effort and almost great results for a young team. I do want to share my only frustration. I know Drejaj was out in the second half, but how many jump shots did we take in the first 16 minutes of the second half? Two or three? Until Lisch hit the three I know it had been about 8 minutes since we had taken one. It is too bad we couldn't make and sink some in the second half, I think it would have made the difference in the game.
  17. Taking things a bit personally are we? No, I was not referring to you, I was replying to cheeseman...look at the thread. And for the record, I think both sets of posts, about grades and family members cross the line and are inappropriate. Though I think the example you have given is quite humorous and is a few times more outlandish than the grades/trashing family posts.
  18. >Contary to what Phan, Kappy and Marshall said this board >does not normally have postings that are based on >unsubstantiated rumors about particular players. Your outrage would be more creditable if you were not also trashing the father of one of our recruits with unsubstantiated claims about his behavior. Grades off limits, trashing family within limits. As you say, "People come to read this board to find things out that have some truth to it not stupid rumors" I can't imagine how excited the young man is to come and play here after his family is made subject to "such ugly rumors". Referring to Maguire: 12/8 - I am sorry but if DM is good, I can't imagine that the coach can not figure out a way to take advantage of him. We are missing something here and I am not sure what it is. Maybe his attitude and his father has soured the coach - who knows. 12/8 - I had a h.s. coach tell me last year that DM's father was an incessent complainer - so I wonder how the coach at Edwardsville is handling that issue.
  19. Considering that a hallmark of your posts is sarcasm, would you be kind enough to let us know when you are making a meaningful, straight forward point in your posts? Unfortunately they get lost in your humor.
  20. What protection do we have should opponents decide to pound the ball inside early in the game to get Ian in foul trouble? Does a 4 guard line-up make us more vulernable to this strategy? If I was playing us, I'd go straight at him early in the game to try to get 2 cheap calls to open the inside for the rest of a half.
