  1. Actually, his physical skills reminded me of Larry; however, his coach could arrange to relieve him of a lot of pressure by passing off when double teamed and then getting the ball back shortly thereafter. He didn't need to bring the ball up; any coach can find a guy or way to get the ball into the front court. It seemed to me that Corey's intention, originally, was to break the Shootout scoring record.
  2. Livingston plays on a very, very good team - he doesn't need to score 30, and would probably upset the team chemistry if he tried. It's clear to me he values the assist as much as the points. I think Cerasoli and Liddell were similar in their approach. The Corey kid from TN was the complete opposite; many in my section were booing him by the end of the game. If Cerasoli is 31st in the country, where does that put Liddell?
  3. I know that IL wanted Claggs, but they were on probation and had to give up some scholarships.
  4. New MU anthem...Bring in the Clowns
  5. I don't listen to KFNS, but I think I saw a poster at the post office...
  6. And they haven't been able to scout Reggie, or get any tape on him. I'm not afraid of this game...famous last words...
  7. The athletic level of Oakland was astounding. They were hitting shots in people's faces. I knew it couldn't last...but it did. Yes, both teams were playing uptempo. It amazed me that Oakland could maintain that pace for the whole game. SLU could not play run and gun with Oakland - not a chance. We'd have to slow it down to a crawl and take them out of their game. And we probably could, and frustrate them. But they took on MU at its own game - and nearly won. It was fine basketball.
  8. I watched the whole game. I kept thinking that Oakland was playing the game of their lives and that they would fold under the superior MU depth and firepower. Nope - they took it to the final seconds. They went head to head for the full 40 and didn't give an inch. At one point, I thought MU might fold - that they might get nervous that they couldn't put this team away and choke at the end. However, it was Oakland that missed the crucial FTs at the end. Kudos to MU for keeping it together to the end. I think SLU needs to do some recruiting in Detroit if that team is representative of the local talent.
  9. Seems to me that CUSA will drop to 9th with the losses they are facing, and that we'll hold our relative position in the new conf. Could be that the BE will move ahead of the ACC. I don't think there's anyway to catch the 6 ahead of us.
  10. If I were UB, I would have the team set screen after screen to get Darren loose for 3 pointers - he's got the stroke, but he needs the reps and the confidence at the big arena - what better time than last night and this Saturday?
  11. Let's bet; who holds the stakes, and where do you want to meet?
  12. The #### is Sign Guy's attempt to censor profanity. In this case, the poster spelled Dee I Cee Kay - I had a post some time ago talking about D. Bennett and got the same result. Missavage, if he's the guy I'm thinking about, was a good recruit for that squad, but suffered injury after injury. He COULD play.
  13. I've addressed this on this board before - shame on you for not reading all of my posts diligently. One of my sons in law works for Amdocs, which is an Israeli firm, and many of his associates here in SL are from Israel. They laugh at "our" pronunciation - as if he's Irish. The proper pronunciation is "isek" (soft i) oak-a-non, with the accent on the first syllable. Now you know...if you read my post.
  14. OK he's made his point - any more questions about him? Now let's sit him down and see if anyone else can step up. :+ Towards the end of the game, the motion disappeared for awhile out of the motion offense - then Drejaj started dribbling as 4 guys watched him...and he went right into the paint and lost the ball. The motion offense works best when there are 5 real threats to score...we still don't have that in our mindset. Personally, I'm comfortable with any of our guys taking the open shot...but it's only there when we keep moving.
  15. I think that's part of his problem - he has the ability to go up in the paint and shoot the short jumper over the 3 that's covering him. When you go all the way, you're driving into the defense and the big man gets the last shot at you. I certainly think he should go to the basket when he's in a 1/1 situation, but I think he's better just getting halfway into the paint and then shooting or passing. I think he'll be more productive as he gets the pt this year - he'll find out what works for him.
  16. Except I thought Drejaj started to play a little "bucket" in the second half, and the motion went out of the motion offense...
  17. Part of their being outrebounded was the fact that EK at one point made 12/15 - you can't rebound when they swish through...
  18. Think of the expectations that N Car. had last year...and what they really accomplished. Individual skills still require chemistry.
  19. They won 11 last year, plus two exhibition games against teams you never heard of. Their beat the following: Tenn St. SEMO twice, Tenn Tech, Murray St. Morris Brown, E IL, Shepherd College, OH Wesleyan, K Christian, and College of St. Joseph. The RPI of their schedule had to be in the bottom 10% - but then, Steve Alford started in the NAIA, right? I put EK basketball into Google and went straight to their website.
  20. I'm going - Section 117, J1 - lots of other Tipoff members will be there.
  21. Good post, but I don't think you can get through to the negative bashers. At least you made the effort, and I didn't.
