  1. How long before players who have been played for money in international leagues come back and play at university level if they did not use up their eligibility or never started college? It would seem if everyone can pay players- the whole must be an amateur status should be history

  2. So I know it’s a bit ridiculous to say, but it is technically accurate when speaking of NILs. International pros are being paid direct for playing basketball (costing amateur status). NCAA players getting NILs are not being paid to play basketball...they are being paid for their personal name, image, and likeness instead of their performance on the court. I know the distinction is pretty silly and clearly an oftentimes dishonest distinction. For now though, that is the company line on what is happening.

  3. I agree they will get their way, but I disagree that Fox and ESPN will sit by and watch CBS/Turner run the tournament for the next decade without taking some action. The new power conference structure will get the College Football Playoff as they want it, and then they will go after the NCAA Tourney. Maybe 5 years out? You may know this, are leagues legally required to send a champion to the NCAA hoops tourney? I googled this issue and couldn't find an answer.

  4. I read somewhere that the first round was 3 million people per game. So, the first round is 96 Million. Even if half the viewers watched all of the games, that is nearly 50 million. As to the greater issue, if the blue bloods and P5 want to start a separate tournament with just those big conferences, then ok, I won’t watch it. I doubt anyone who went to a smaller program will. That is a massive amount of the population. It could backfire on them. If the other 200 programs kept the Tournament, it could easily become the thing that takes center stage every year, and the tables could completely turn on the big programs. We will see.

  5. French gave football another try during the spring. https://www.google.com/amp/s/theathletic.com/3233322/2022/04/06/bucs-nfl-draft-workout/%3Famp%3D1 He probably bulked up for football & hasn’t shed the weight.

  6. The other way to look at it is that 1 game drew 18.1 million viewers, but 291 million people total viewed those 32 games.

  7. This mythical back up pg just doesn't exist or isn't coming to SLU. If he would be satisfied with just being the back up pg and that's it, he isn't going to make a difference when Yuri is out anyway. Sorry, he just won't be good enough. Otherwise he needs to be good enough to take wing/guard minutes from Perk, GJim, Pick, Thatch, Parker, Hargrove, etc ... Players that good have other situations available to them that offer them more assurances for playing time.

  8. Stop with the negative injury vibes. It’s hard enough having our annual preseason high expectations crushed by actual bad events; Sits 1 and 2, losing Perkins, Covid shutdown et al., than to project doom and gloom by fantasy injuries.
