What would Okie Billiken pay for a Father Son SLU autographed baseball or basketball card?

Funny you mention that....I have already purchased a couple of Max McGwire cards that are on the way   He was a Top 100 Prospect a couple of years ago.   You can get a pretty cool autographed card from about $5-10.    Because of his previous prospect status, there are some rare/limited issue cards on the $50-200 range.    If he inks a deal with our NIL store, a Billiken McGwire jersey will be a must purchase.

My thought is SLU/BVF commissioned father son card, McGwires and Hughes.  Sell it autographed with proceeds going to NIL.

Yes I know it requires the consent. Assuming consent it's a cool collectors item low cost time with high impact. Could probably use ONIT or a local printer to make it.

Gotta run NIL like a marketing firm and not a booster club.

Maybe this is already in the works. I hope so.

Quick note on Billiken draftee Pat Clohisy.   He has been assigned to the Class A -  Augusta Greenjackets (Braves).   His first professional game was Sunday.  He went 2-4 with a stolen base.   Typical day for him.   They had him batting 3rd which is pretty nice.   They are trying to play this week in Charleston, SC but that city is pretty much under water right now.

Our other draft pick Evan Gray has not been assigned to a team as of yet.

Let's party like it's 1997-98 (how I WISH it were in more ways than one).

"an ongoing research project that lists every player from specific colleges who appeared in at least one college baseball game and made it to the major league level."

Sadly missing SLU didn't we have a RP make the Cubs roster a few years ago?

Gotta more than that guy right?

There are a few more.   James Norwood pitched for the Cubs, Padres and Phillies most recently.   Len Boehmer in the 60-70s (Yankees).   Justin Stein 30's.  Ray Schmandt  1910-20s, Gene Robertson 1920's, Bob Habenicht  1950's.  (Yes I have cards for all of them).   We've gotten several players recently to Triple A but werent able to make the next step.  From the 1960's to the Hendrickson era this program was absolutely abysmal.  Lucky it wasnt killed when they shut down hockey

A new portal addition showing up on the D1 Baseball database.   RHP Preston Salazar from Kirkwood.  Transferring in from a terrible Lindenwood pitching staff.   Strange stats for him. He first pitched sparingly for SIUE in 2020.  Then off to JUCO.  He pitched for Lindenwood in 2023 where he was 1-11 with an 8.58 ERA.   Yikes!   Last year he worked out of the bullpen for them, compiling a 2-2 record with 3 saves.   His ERA was 4.57 but his opponent BA was only .230.   Bullpen depth add I suppose.

Max McGwire is still listed on their sight as unsigned.   Might be a oversight, however SLU hasn't announced his signing either.   Stu's article mentioned that he was signed, as did D1 Baseball's.

Nonstop examples of schools with programs not at the caliber of SLU’s winning in facilities. How many more examples are needed for AD to at least acknowledge reality is perception and this is hurting baseball program? I’m sure AD thinks it’s good enough and program is winning without a first class set up, that’s even more alarming. So, all that talk about competition should have an asterisk next to it, competition means winning A10 and then getting blasted in sectionals. Everyone is happy, right? In of all places St. Louis. AD is taking too many notes and tips from Mozeliek and DeWitts.
