SLU Soccer Week 8 Rankings

Beating Dayton is a good win and temporarily boosts SOS. It is looking unlikely SLU will get a first round bye in the NCAA tournament this year. SLU needs a lot more computer love for a seed/bye. Definitely still doable but it would take a lot of wins and no losses down the stretch as well as an A-10 championship. That said, they can get into the first round with a solid finish which should be doable as Louisville is their only quality opponent down the stretch (road win would be huge). Road games can be hard if the home team is just playing for the tie but I do not think any of their opponents will be doing that.

NSCAA (coaches): 30th (not receiving votes last week), receiving only 14 votes

Top Shelf (website): Unranked (not receiving votes last week as well) this site is really down on the A-10 with NO ranked teams but these rankings have made little sense all season

College Soccer News (website): SLU 22nd (3 places better )

Soccer America (website): SLU 21st (1 place better)

Soccer Times (coaches): SLU 27th (receiving votes, up 4 places)

Ken Massey (computer): SLU 36th (6 places better)

Unofficial RPI (computer): SLU 35th (9 places better)

NCAA RPI (computer): SLU 39th (6 places better)

SLU played to an obviously frustrating 2-2 tie with St. Bonaventure (7-6-2) with goals by Bryce and Kristo. Shack had to make nine saves in the game compared to four for the other keeper.

I have not had the time to follow the team, but it looks like Graydon did not play and has not played the last two games.

Kohring got the start but was quickly pulled for Kristo. Roeckle also a substitute though he also played most of the game.

Not the case.

So, injury or dissension?

Graydon was also out in the 2-0 win over Duquesne. Roeckle is back in the starting line-up which I assume must mean that he is more or less back to his pre-injury condition. No Gabeljic. Andre makes it in for a short eight minutes.

Only one home game left. And, the Halloween game against Louisville is subscription only.

SLU played to an obviously frustrating 2-2 loss with St. Bonaventure (7-6-2) up in Hay Seed Hollow. The Brown Indians won the game ( yes, it was a sweet win ) late in the second half. The 2-2 draw was as good as a Win the the young Braves who also, beat Dayton in Dayton 1-0.

SLU has a very strong team and most likely will win the A10.

Wait a second... SLU lost 2-2? Brown Indians won? 2-2 draw? Tell me not a graduate of St. Bona!!

Probably a "morale victory" in his context. "Hay Seed Hollow" appears to be a keeper, tho. By now, with one month of no shaving, the cheerleaders' winter fur coats should be coming in quite nicely.

I am not sure ties are ever moral victories in soccer. And, the 1-0 win over Dayton is great for a program long mired in a bog of mediocrity, but the Bonnies are probably the best team Dayton has played all season after SLU and The Ohio State University.

I love the reference to the long retired Brown Indians mascot. It shows someone actually cares about St. Bonaventure athletics.
