  1. I’ll state for the record this guy is gonna be really good. Wouldn’t be shocked if he starts. I think too much is being read into him not playing much for Creighton, who were stacked.

Swope, Dotzler, Gibby, Avila, (yet to commit) big.  That’s starting five I think.  Hughes, Thames first off the bench. Casey first to spell the bigs

He wasn’t efficient, was bad defensively, put his number up on a bad team and against the 25th worst schedule in the country.

Hard to be efficient on a terrible team. He seems like exactly the type of player HCJS has turned into a stud in the past.  Again, big guards that can score, rebound, and pass don’t grow on trees.   If Schertz wants him I’m all in.

I didn't get the excitement around Hunter last season and don't get it this season.  I must be missing something.

6’3” guards with two years of eligibility that have averaged 17, 5, and 4 at the Division 1 level don’t really grow on trees. There’s a reason a lot of big programs were/are interested.

In Schertz we trust but on paper this guy doesn’t move the needle.
That said lots of spots to fill and 6’8 depth is never a bad thing.

I’m ok with HCJS taking a few shots on some former highly ranked recruits transferring down a level. You never know if they’re gonna be Javon Bess or Ash Yacoubou.  But worth the occasional shot.

I still think there's another bus coming. All the big conferences are getting bigger and bigger. Big East is going to want to try to keep up. They'll look at programs that are doing well and making big commitments to basketball. Or so I'm predicting.

Hope you’re right. Big East is really the only way I see us becoming/remaining relevant long term, with how things are trending in college athletics

I have.  A handful of mid-majors have struck gold.  Everybody else has been struggling in vain.  Now we've finally reached the point where the big boys officially kick us out of the club.

2012-14 we were competitive with the Creightons, Butlers, Xaviers of the world. Can’t be overstated how detrimental it was to miss the Big East bus at that time.

On at least two interviews, Coach Schertz stated he will recruit "Inside out" meaning he wants to keep the local players that he wants, at SLU.  There are several ways of getting that done.  Let's see what he does.

I'm not that keyed into local HS talent, but there doesn't appear to be any must have in this years senior hoopsters class. Three juniors getting notice are Collins-St. Mary's, Randall-Vashon, and Walsh-Vianney.  There may be others out there.

Not to put too much stock into social media, but Walsh definitely seems interested in SLU based on Twitter. And I believe Schertz recruited him at ISU.  He and the Smajcic (sp?) kid at Vianney seem like good fits for Schertz’s system.

Revisionist history or was I never this excited in the Ford era?

I think maybe when Carteare Gordon committed the fever pitch around here was at a similar level.  We had Goodwin and French coming in, along with some really good (seeming) transfers.  Never panned out unfortunately

Didn't realize Kent was born in Austin, I wonder at what age he moved to IL?

    This is not good.

Still haven't seen anything about Avila visiting Texas. I think that report was inaccurate.

Let’s try to trust in Coach here. If he’s worried, he didn’t show it one bit on the show last night.  And I think we will be getting some good news rolling in sooner than later.

I admittedly didn’t watch ISU this year.  Just watched Avila highlights.  He looks terribly slow and unathletic.

Let’s maybe hold off on these types of posts, at least before the man has even committed here.  His game is not based on speed and athleticism, it’s strength, skill, playmaking, basketball IQ.

Conwell has better numbers around the rim, but I think the open looks he got may have doubled the open drives Gibby got. But I agree you just need one of Gibson or Conwell.

Sure you only NEED one, but I WANT both 😅

Ha! Fair point. Just thought I would pass it on

Haha sorry, wasn’t trying to shoot the messenger. I’m just thirsty for Conwell news, but I’m afraid he might be the one we don’t get.
