  1. I have heard that Jim Whitesell, former Loyola HC, will be an Asst.
  2. That's not entirely accurate. Women's basketball gets 15 scholarships whereas the men get 13. It's somewhat easier for the dominant teams to stay dominant since they get to keep more of the best HS players. Not taking anything away form them, but it's a reason as to why the women's game is so top heavy year in and year out.
  3. 11/23 - vs Tennesse St http://www.tsutigers.com/SportSelect.dbml?...amp;SPSID=92735
  4. Hill has an injury. If the game wasn't in St Louis he probably wouldn't have played at all. He sat out the first exhibition, tried to play in the second but could only go for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Perhaps there is more to the Ellis not being cleared saga than a simple pass/fail HS class?
  6. Ft Smith doesn't have a football team. I visited their campus last month for a building project they have going on, very very pretty campus.
  7. As of this morning he isn't listed in the SLU 'People Finder' on the website, all of the other Freshmen on the team are listed.
  8. So, how is this not an NCAA violation? Semo loses a scholarship because a coach drives a player from Cape to Memphis to see his newborn baby, the coach doesn't ask the player to reimburse him mileage or gas money -- and the NCAA says it is a violation. The player traveled on the coach's dime basically. Vanderbilt's coach buys international plane tickets, hotel expenses and meals for his entire team and this is ok? I don't get it.
  9. I'm not positive, but I thought the current offices were in the Richmond neighborhood (ie Port Richmond) of Philly. Richmond is a large Polish/Lithuanian area of Philly.
  10. Not sure that anything Self did per se is the reason for this, but kansas's basketball program has been on probation with a loss of scholarships for the past two years. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/ne...t&type=lgns
  11. Excerpts from a rivals story today, from the North Carolina site: Duke and North Carolina are newcomers in a recruitment that is just starting to take off. When asked about the schools he's considering, Beal mentioned Kansas, Florida, Illinois, Purdue, Missouri, Minnesota, Texas, Ohio State, and Wake Forest. there were rumors that Beal was close to verbally committing to Florida in the coming weeks. "I'm not sure what I'm going to do," he said. "Yeah, I keep in touch with everybody really, but they (Florida) are not the only school that I'm close to. I'm hoping to make it (my decision) sometime at the end of the summer." The rest of the article talks about how if UNC offered he might consider them.
  12. Ward has an offer from Semo and is getting some looks from similar schools including Siu-E. Ealy is definitely going to play football, he may try to play both, but he will absolutely play football (if he has the grades and rumors are he does)
  13. Semo's arena is larger than five A-10 schools' -- GW, Duquesne, Fordham, St Bonaventure & LaSalle all play in smaller arenas, Rhode Island's holds about 500 more. I can't think of any good reason why SLU would ever play at Semo though, or any other OVC school.
  14. It's not a home and home, it's a 'buy' game.
  15. According to Semo's website, Slu vs Semo is Nov 14th, not 4th.
  16. I don't think the royal jersey would look good with black shorts. You can play around with different colors and styles of uniforms at this website, I tried the royal and black and it just didn't look right to me: http://www.thesportingstore.com/basketball.htm
  17. The website itself is Basketball Travelers, but it takes you to the 'oddly named link' if you click on their scheduling message board. They're well known in coaching circles, as they run tournaments across the country.
  18. Powell had scholarship offers from Bradley, Murray St & Ohio, at least this season. Some of the other schools may have shown some interest when he was in HS if not this season? This is basically a list complied from his rivals and/or scout profile, nothing more, and probably compiled by a GA in the SID's office. The Cape beat writer says that Siu made a late push, as in the last month, but don't know if they actually offered.
  19. April 2-9 (ending at 12pm) is a 'dead period'. April 9 ( beginning at 12 pm) - 13 is a 'contact period', followed by another dead period from April 13-16, then followed by yet another contact period from April 16-22.
  20. Xavier site at Rivals is saying Miller changed his mind and has taken the Arizona job. http://xavier.rivals.com/
  21. Cal Poly is hiring Joe Callero, the HC at Seattle U
  22. He finished second, he was a finalist. They are hiring Dickey Nutt, former Ark St coach.
  23. Clemons played at Southern Idaho, then took the 'classes' he needed for eligibility at Barton Co CC. He never played ball at Barton. Southern Idaho, btw, is traditionally one of the best Juco programs in the country, a 2-time winner of the Juco Championship. They produce many D1 players, though not many upper echelon stars, but they do usually have a lot of low- and mid-major caliber players.
