  1. They did have to beat Ohio State and Syracuse...
  2. Our Freshman don't have a body of work substantial enough to deserve criticism or praise so how can so many untrained eyes be writing them off or anointing them? We won't know what we have in TL, MC, RA (and AY for that matter) until January next year...until then let's hope they hit the weights, the gym and our coaching staff fills our the roster with an impact player.
  3. Agree completely and feel that for a program like SLU recruiting a skill set to fit our system is the key. Establish an identity and then recruit to your needs at the respective positions. Incoming recruits can see how they will be used based on how previous players have succeeded.
  4. This. While I agree we need to defer to the staff as to what they feel we need and trust they have irons in the right fires it is naive to say Berry wouldn't help us.
  5. I think Tanner starts at the 4. As the year wore on it became apparent that we missed that perimeter threat from the 4. I think we're looking at: Ash Austin Tanner Reggie Manning And don't sleep on Miles Reynolds pushing Austin in the second half of the year.
  6. I'm looking forward to seeing how Crews tweaks the offense now that his players will make up the majority of the team. We'll be young but talented...
  7. Exactly. The refs invited that kind of play by letting the Cards get all over Loe.
  8. HE WAS A FRSHMAN ON A TEAM ON SENIORS WHO WAS IN A ROTATION FOR THE EIGHTH MAN OFF THE BENCH. There is nothing wrong with him...he will be a solid contributor next year and future starter. It's not like Mike and Jordair's freshman year when we HAD to have Freshman start and play 25+ minutes. We had 5 senior starters which will likely never happen again. Step back from the ledge everyone.
  9. We won this game BECAUSE of Crews ability to adjust and coach. Now close this thread.
  10. Screw him and everyone else...the boys will keep competing so let's just see where it takes them.
  11. Have heard from someone on the alumni board that it is not a Jesuit FWIW.
  12. I'll be there...hoping the pre-game festivities are strong as Columbus. That was a rocking atmosphere.
  13. Was having this discussion as well and think it could be to our advantage to see a team that isn't familiar with us...
  14. I just don't see us adjusting to what teams have started to do against us. They've take DE away via the double team and are being more aggressive with JJ by clogging the lane and forcing him to pass before he can penetrate. They're daring us to beat them from the perimeter and we can't do it consistently. I won't pretend to be a coach but under RM you could always count on us adjusting to counter what teams do well and/or what was being done against us. We were always a 2nd half team and recently we're blowing halftime leads. To win: Defend. Rebound.
  15. Seeding is important bit I'm much more concerned about our guys getting refocused on what's been missing...To win: Defend. Rebound. Unless we end the season losing our last 4 and go out in the first round in Brooklyn we won't be worse than a 5/6 which I can live with.
  16. Didn't know the Backhand had a softer side...
  17. There wasn't a lot to get excited about. Team was flat, we never really went on a run except when we pushed the lead to 7 early in the 2nd half.
  18. Alden has been the one constant voice in not renewing the rivalry. No chance he signs off on that.
  19. Next year will be fun to watch our guys develop...will have some ups and downs for sure but think we could still contend for a bye in Brooklyn.
  20. Would be on board with any of those. Also would like to see us look at Izzo Nation or a top Big Ten school like Michigan, Ohio State, Indiana.
  21. Next year could be a very enticing year to land a home and home with a big boy. We're going to be in a percieved "down" year (although the realist in me acknowledges this) so it may be easier to convince somebody to add us to the schedule. Ideally we could start the series on the road so we can get them here in two years when we should be very good with Ash and Austin in the backcourt as seniors and a strong junior and sophomore class. I've been dying to get MIZ back on the schedule but I say screw 'em. They're the ones that will take the PR hit for dodging us and honestly we've been more successful for the past 3 seasons so let's go get someone else.
