  1. My favorite was when Ian blocked 23's @#%^ off the backboard and was talkin' some serious trash when he did it. This was also after the worst call in basketball history...Ian's traveling with a guy square on his back on his way up to the hoop.
  2. I believe that was Willie who made the comment about Edwin running over Roy's dog.
  3. the drag on Tommie has always been that he doesn't have that killer instinct. Any comparisons between Tommie and larry are understandable, but that might be one of the main differences.
  4. that three seconds call was only the third worst call of the night.
  5. Luke has gotta play. Especially since DB is giving nothing right now. One day this group will grow up and somebody (this was my worry at the beginning of the season) will step up towards the end of the game and make/take a shot. We continue to lose games down the stretch because we're still babies and afraid to have the ball in their hands. p.s. refs sucked.
  6. I think we matchup well with Iowa. They're not particularly a quick team nor are they very big. We seem to get beat by athletes like the Ole Miss or UWM game, and I'm not sure Iowa has great "athletes." However, they do have good heady outside shooters so I worry about the three killing us. I see our inside guys playing well and hopefully if we get out and run a little our guards can get going as well. Here's to getting a much needed good win over a good team.
  7. > >As for Ramsey, I think he is fine. Frank I think is the SLU >homer of the StL media, and that is fine. We need all the homers we can get in the stl media
  8. I feel no sympathy towards Chicago St. They obviously sent in a goon to pound on Ian. The guy played 5 minutes and had five fouls. I feel like we're lucky nobody got hurt.
  9. I'm with Roy on this one. With the exception of the foul called towards the end when Lisch gave a sharp shoulder to 11 and Lisch fell over, I thought it wasn't so much a homer job, but rather this Chicago State team just hacked their way into foul trouble. In fact, the refs missed a few that should've been called. On the topic of fouls, when will our Bills learn to slide into the lane on the break and take the charge. Lisch and Meyer do it, but DB and JJ both seem to just go up trying to block the shot instead of getting position and taking the charge. I can think of three instances last night the little guys went barreling down the lane on a break and were either fouled or made their shot. The one with JJ in the first half was embaressing.
  10. worse probably. That Chicago State team was terrible. They had two quick little guys, and the rest of the team stood around watching and waiting for them to penetrate and throw up crap. There was probably 40 fouls on them and we shot 40 free throws. Boring as hell. The fans were lulled to sleep and our players probably too. Hopefully we got it out of our system before the Iowa game.
  11. I think at this point the 4-guard offense is not as good against the weaker teams without drejaj. What makes me wonder about is not JJ's minutes, but what about DB? He played 4.6 seconds last night and has sunken deep onto Brad's bench. That's crazy considering a month ago he was a starter and a leading scorer in the first game.
  12. right, it really detracts from the college game atmosphere.
  13. that's ridiculous. one of my biggest gripes about Savvis is not so much the size, but the anal-attitudes the ushers have there.
  14. this is at least the second time this has happened. Maybe 3rd time. It happened during the Arizona game and I think the Marquette game. This only happens when we get students who don't normally come to games. Blue Crew members are better fans than that. Perhaps they need to stop throwing those stupid balls into the crowd.
  15. JJ was fantastic last night. His energy, defense, rebounding and finishing around the basket was just what the doctor ordered. YOu get efforts like that out of him the rest of the year, we are a vastly different team. Speaking of the 4-spot, VN has to give better efforts when he comes into the game. The missed shots I could care less about, but our rebounding suffered greatly when he came into the game. That either says a lot about JJ or very little about VN.
  16. I really don't think it's anything with Soderberg. The first two years we had seniors and juniors who could step up and make big baskets towards the end of the game. The last two years, we've been depending on freshman and sophomores to do that. Eventually these young-ins will grow up and be able to handle the pressure towards the end of the game.
  17. Steve Schuman Class of 2004. Currently a Masters student in Urban Planning and Real Estate Development in SLU's Public Policy Department. Once caused a Billiken game to completely stop at the age of 2(?)because I ran onto the court while the game was being played at the old Kiel Auditorium. 4-year member of Blue Crew and Sigma Chi. Have played twice on the Savvis floor for games with University City during the MLK classic and Coca Cola Shootout. Am looking forward to when SLU is back in the tournament (this year?).
  18. I think this board is still relatively tame and civilized in comparison to other boards I've looked at. For the most part there is still good debate and discussion going on here and still a good place for insight on recruiting and current games. Unfortunately every now and then we get bad posts. The best way in dealing with those posts in my opinion is to try and ignore the posts. When I heard who the first poster's source was (his uncle?) I decided I'm done reading this crap. It sucks, but you can't block everybody out and nor should you. It actually makes me appreciate some posters more.
  19. When you're at home in front of a large excited crowd, anything can happen. I think we can win this game. Maybe thursday will be one of those nights where everything just works. If we play like we did against NC we have a chance. If nothing else, we get to watch our boys go up against arguably the best player in the country. I'm excited and like I said, you never know.
  20. Parker and Stone are hilarious... "Cairo, that's in Egypt"
  21. >You have to be younger, conservative, and immune to >political correctness to truely appreciate South Park. I'm >sorry for you that Richard Pryor is dead...... I'm liberal and love South Park.
  22. if you do that you're probably playing a 4-guard and I don't think we could defend the Zags without a little more size. I'm more worried about Batista than Morrison at this point. Morrison is going to get his, but Batista is a real beast on the post and we're gonna have some serious issues with him, especially if we're using a guard to defend him.
