  1. 1970 Notre Dame game already described by GMAN ALUM. Thanks for verifying my memory of that game. I believe Carr only had 21 points well below his average. 1972 Louisville at the old Kiel. Bills down by 18 at half, came fighting back to within I believe two points but could never tie. It was the first game I remember that had official timeouts and they just seemed to be stopping the Bills momentum. Another 1972 game, I believe, against Memphis State. Somehow I got a front row seat right behind the benches. Great game as Bills were up by 18 at half. Larry Finch then took over in the second half and almost brought them back. I think my memory is correct on this. 1986 game against Loyola of Chicago at Kiel. Loyola was a power in the Midwestern Conference. The young Bills with Douglas and Gray beat them towards the end of season. There were some great dunks by Douglas and DJ on radio the next morning was raving over Douglas. What I remember most is the students throwing toilet paper on the floor in celebration. Somehow I felt at that moment the Grawer had brought the Bills back. Since 1986 I've been in Germany and Omaha so haven't been to as many games.
  2. Did anyone else loose their video feed? It keeps flashing "Preparing Video Please stand by"
  3. I'll be at the game. To be honest I don't know much about the Huskers this year. I pay more attention to Creighton. The other night NU beat Arkansas Pine Bluff by 14. A team Creighton beat by 32. The Huskers don't have much height but the Bills don't play well on the road either. I'm thinking it's a low scoring game with the Huskers winning by a couple of points. Perhaps 57-53. My track record of seeing the Billikens on the road hasn't been great so I am hoping I am wrong on this one.
  4. Sheltiedave might be right. I saw him play in March in Peoria during the state tournament. He is the not the shooter that Roth is but Roth isn't the ballhandler or slasher this kid is either. He was fun to watch.
  5. Roy, I watched the first half of Cassity's game at the state tournament last night. I thought he handled the ball very good against Chicago Lawndale's press and he passed well and great court awareness. He made several points driving the lane or baseline. On defense, he played the middle in the zone and man-to-man on their 6'9" big man. I thought of Doug Collins also but I never saw him play in high school nor college. I am sure you saw Kevin Stallings play in high school. How does he compare to him? I like his ability as 6'6" player to handle the ball.
  6. Brian, Thanks for posting this. I just finished watching the game. Pinckneyville pulled off a victory even though they missed 13 free throws. Go Panthers!
  7. Eddie Sutton? Not that I would want to see him but in the Omaha paper the other day he made a comment about coaching again and he had talked to an athletic director. Just speculation no fact.
  8. I don't think Altman was canned at K-State. I believe he resigned to take the Creighton job.
  9. In 1966, Joe Wiley led the Belleville Maroons to a third place finish in the State Tournament. He was my hero and when he decided to attend SLU I became addicted and have remained so since. Even though I am a Creighton season ticket holder, my heart remains with the Bills.
  10. Found this on the Creighton board. Some mention of Kevin. http://aia.com/teamblogs/blogs/basketball_...en/default.aspx
  11. Carlos Martinez. Still having this argument after 35 years. Ha!
  12. Unfortunately Joe Wiley didn't make it. He broke the long standing scoring record and then Dave Robisch broke it shortly thereafter. Speaking of Thornridge, I saw their only loss in two years to Meridian at the Carbondale tournament. I was in high school at the time and my friends would always give me a hard time saying that Thornridge could beat the Billikens because they couldn't stop Buckner. I always replied who was going to stop Harry Rogers.
  13. Saw Casey play in February. He would be a nice addition. Has a nice outside shot and can play with his back to the basket. I did not think he was a power forward but only saw him play once.
  14. He's playing this Monday at the local high school so I'll try to get to the game and watch him.
  15. Monroe Douglas and Roland Gray and they were fun to watch.
  16. This afternoon I watched their 1995 game against Marquette at Kiel. 21,000 in attendance. They scored over 80 points and the bottom line is that team was just plain fun to watch.
  17. The coach at Duquesne, Danny Nee, coached at Nebraska. Right now many fans wished they had him back. He really recruited well and had future pro players on his rosters, but his teams really lacked in the fundamentals department. Basically they weren't very well coached and should have had better records in the NCAA tournament. I hope that Brad can outcoach him.
  18. Metz, Was at the Bradley-CU game the other night and the officiating was the worst I've seen. They almost lost control of the game.
  19. Thought I would put in my two cents on the Blake Ahearn debate. Just got home from watching Creighton take it to the Bears. This is the third time I've seen him play in Omaha and personally I'm think he is one heck of an offensive player. So much that I am not even paying attention to his defense. Guess next year I'll watch that. Anyways, Creighton's defense was really focused on Ahearn which would say something about his abilities. He came in the game averaging 20 and he only scored 13 with 6 coming at the line where he doesn't miss. The Bears themselves were held 36 under their average. I'm happy with the current SLU players but I think he could have helped an offense that has struggled on occasion over the last couple of years.
  20. Bob Campbell SLU fan since 1967 when Joe Wiley decided to attend SLU. Visit the site everyday to get the latest news. Wish it existed in the 80's when I was overseas where I had to wait over a day to get the score in the Stars and Stripes. Had a friend send me the Post Dispatch articles for years. Still have many of the clippings. Appreciate the game updates that are more timely than Gametracker and keeping me informed of the latest Billiken news.
  21. Guess they just aren't bringing their "A" game with them.
  22. I was stationed at Scott in 1984 and that name sounded so familiar. They ran an article on him in the base newspaper and mentioned he played at Cobden. Thanks for the info.
  23. Hope you aren't having them favored against Creighton. Just had to get that in.
