  1. I think we're all gonna be a little upset, Kshoe, if we lose any of these 3 remaining games. RI's a mess. We demoralized the Dukes to the point where they quit. And it's X after all at the Fetz in front of, hopefully, 10k+ all white wearing crazed Billiken fans that will make it look like and sound like a freakin' avalanche is roaring down the slopes on the Mouseketeers.
  2. I still think X makes a run in the A-10 tourney. As long as we win out regular season and get a W or 2 in AC we're still in no matter what X does. I just think they're gonna be a team that finally finds itself and gets hot at the right time. Prior to the Chili Brawl, they were pretty solid and you can't ignore them. Lunardi still sees 'em getting to the dance, and I think he's counting on them doing it by taking the A-10 tourney.
  3. I'm fine right now being out of the top 25 and in the ORV category. Last time we got in we got bumped by friggin LMU, the Carleton of California. I swear if we hadn't lost that one to LMU we'd have been ranked in the top 25 the whole damn season.
  4. Wiz, is Temple covering just about all their Vegas spreads in the last 6 or 7 games?
  5. I'm with you, Al. Although, I'd likely travel to Columbus, Louisville, or Nashville as well. Car pool it?
  6. Adding to this, in November our offense looked the best it's ever been. Does anyone else agree that it's not looked as crisp since that time? I think the reason is early in the year there's not a lot of game film to go around so it's almost as if you're running it in practice, but once people see it they just know how to defend it better.
  7. Broy's nailed it. Heck, when I watch KY, UNC, et al, I think, man, we are really offensively challenged. But these teams are built like this year after year after year yet they still managed to get bumped off by teams that play good D. Also, I think BM and other locals watch a lot of Mizzou and they are athletic but still play good team offense and defense. In fact, I think Mizzery (hate to say it) and Marquette (hate to say it) may both end up in the final 4 this year.
  8. Can't question RM, but he did say the same thing about JB. I'm just hoping JB is a contributor next year. If we had another deadeye off the bench that would be huge.
  9. Good job, Rican. I posted in October, I thought he'd be the key man for us this year, and he's coming thru big time. Seriously think he could be like those 2 bigs from Butler, Heyward and ???, can pop the 3 and play inside. The only thing missing right now is a slash to the hoop off a pump fake 3 if he's well covered.
  10. ESPN's updated BPI has us at number 9. In a way it makes sense, primarily because we've got some decent W's and no one, save for UMass, has blown us out.
  11. Well, anyone can change their mind if their situation changes. 1. He'd lose the guy that recruited him. 2. Butler's not doing much this year unless they win the Horizon tourney, ie a little of the bloom is off the rose. 3. If he changes his mind, we'll put Easy Ed's number on our unis next year.... like we should have done this year.
  12. Surprised that if Stevens were to go to Illinois, no one's said doesn't that re-open our door to Nolan Berry?
  13. You're a Princeton grad. You're trained to be an optimist.
  14. He's ours. In addition to Chinese food, he luvs toasted raviolis. Also, confirmed by Bay Area who found him when he was in Anaheim, Taj Mahal because he'll predict who will transfer, and West Pine Jim because he's just in the know about all thing Billikens.
  15. When Bernie listed his factors, I think he hit it on the head when he basically said, "lousy TV exposure." Now granted our ratings wouldn't be that high, but if we had a local TV deal for all our away games you'd create some buzz.
  16. You know, Mr. Meanie (at least Humph's thinks you are), I can understand not scheduling against them. But the entertainment $ only goes so far these days. And hockey fans tend to be like a cult. I don't think we'd ever have much chance to pull from their crowd anyways. It's the guy or girl sitting at home who likes hoops and would take his girl or kids out for a fairly inexpensive date. I still noticed on the web cast those empty lower bowl seats. Someone should get the bright idea to have long term Bills fans find a way to purchase and fill those. That's where all the dead heads sit.
  17. Rammer and Earl said it was a good turnout considering it was Mardi Gras in StL. Hard to tell from the webcast, but it didn't sound loud. Of course, after the first 10 minutes the matter was pretty much settled. Student turnout? Excellent_____ Good____ Fair____ Miserable____. The webcast never once put the camera on the students, so it was hard to tell. C'mon, folks, let's start showing some love for these kids.
  18. I know it was Fordham, but the open looks today were pretty amazing.
  19. UNM is 21-4 w/ some quality wins. Hey, they beat us, but only because JJ missed that last second put back. I'd expect them to crack the top 25 this week.
  20. I wish my wife would enter performance mode early... or late.
  21. I told you guys we'd come to regret those two losses to the Duke of Canada. I'm just hopeful that after the NCAA disses us, we can get into the Canadian National Tourney and get us some revenge.
  22. Plus, they don't take tourney upsets into consideration. Granted, the lower mid majors are getting only one bid regardless of who wins their tourneys, but if the BCS'ers have some big upsets the whole exercise goes right out the window. For example, what happens to the A-10 if Dayton wins?
  23. What made 17000 + come to games under Spoon? Winning games. But we are winning games and we're still falling far short of the enthusiasm of the 93-98 years. I've already mentioned Spoon being a visible and audible guy around ST. Louis. RM's not going to do that. But he really shouldn't have to. In many ways RM's a more notable guy than Spoon ever was, albeit on a national scale. Was is that Spoon's teams had more local kids? I can't imagine that was that big a factor in attendance. My guess is it was that we were playing a lot more national type programs back in the CUSA that really helped. But still I can't fathom that w/ an undergrad population of 7,000 we can't fill in the student section w/ a bunch of rowdies who like to holler and act a little crazy for two hours once or twice a week. Especially when it's within walking distance of their dorms/apartments.
  24. I'm not knocking RM but Spoon did do a fair amount to boost the program outside of just winning on the court. He had his own radio show. RM doesn't to the best of my knowledge. At it's height under Spoon we had a number of local kids, right? Clagget and Highmark come to mind. And then Hughes, Baniak, and Tatum. They probably all had local followings. Also, back in the 17000+ days, we were playing long time big time rivals, UL, Natti, Memphis, etc. We do seem to draw well when one of the few A-10 big names come in, UD, X, Temple. But still can't figure out the student apathy. Cripes, I've got a friend in Boston, Hahhvahd man, and he says the Hahhvahd students suddenly are going pretty nutso over their hoops team. Are SLU students more nerdy than Haahvahd students?
