  1. One of my favorite teams was the 93-94 team. It was outrebounded by about 2/game but had 6 fewer turnovers per game. If we get no more bigs eligible, there is a model to be successful. And I am not comparing this team to 93-94, just pointing out that there is more than one way to generate possessions.
  2. They were hoping for a 6 pm men's soccer game.
  3. Fair point and I don't think they are mutually exclusive. But I think you have to find HS kids that want to come here and NIL is the sweetener. What I don't think is viable is to get into a bidding war for HS kids (or any kids) with no connection to SLU. And I don't think anyone on here is advocating that. But I don't think it is an accident we signed 4 foreign players and multiple transfers and one HS kid (early) in this class. And I do think it is worth mentioning again, the 2 time transfer rule is going to be a headwind for kids jumping schools multiple times. Would you rather sign a freshman or a kid that has played in college for a couple of years? The latter has more limited options to leave going forward.
  4. A couple of random thoughts and responses here: * Other events are happening. One was held very recently that raised about $30,000. * Those managing the collective not only have to raise $, but also dispense it That means talking to players, agents, families, often multiple times and negotiating with them. That is why in many places these are full time paid positions. I belive the BVF board is volunteer. Of course they can do better but they are learning on the job. *High school players are the worst NIL investments. You have no idea if their game translates to the next level and if they are good they will leave for more $. Transfers are the value, particularly now that you need a waiver for the 2nd one. You have a body of work to look at and they will be stickier. *Preseason polls mean absolutely nothing. Who knows better than fans of the home team after last season. We all have thoughts on what this team will do and the trajectory of the program, but let's at least let them play a game or two before decalring disaster. *One thing I never though about, but have heard mentioned is the impact NIL funds have the lives of many of these kids and their families. Some/many come from poverty and these funds are a big difference maker. A contribution to NIL helps SLU recruit no doubt, but ultimately impacts a kid and his famly in a positive way. There is a situation at SLU where this happened. Makes it feel a little different to me. *SLU has always had an athletic fundraising strategy of asking a small group for big checks, They need to also think about asking a big group for small checks, IMO.
  5. Any idea why the ladies decided to replace @Iowa with UMKC last weekend? I have heard thet paid to get out of that game. Just curious.
  6. We were 153 in defensive efficiency per Kenpom last year. What is miles back? Bottom third in the nation? If that is the case, it will likley be a miserable season. I think by this metric (defensive efficiency) alone we will be better defensively based on a bigger lineup and slower tempo.
  7. Players still entering the portal.
  8. We will have the roster to play bigger and I would guess our tempo is slower this year vs. last. That doesn't mean we are better defensively, but might hide some defencies on that end of the floor. The decline in defensive efficiency the last few years is one of the most alarming trends IMO, and is seemingly out of character for a TF team.

  10. The conspiracy theorist in me wonders if the coaches know Ezewiro will be denied and there will be another scholarship available and Dandridge is still in play. Difficult to like what collge sports are turning into.
  11. Was it 180 that Majerus set as an elite shooter? If it is, I like the math here.

  13. I saw them play Dayton in Chicago last year. Pretty well coached but definitely a talent deficit. I like their coach (Jeff Lindner) and he had a nice resume until last year and you have to wonder if he made bad career move taking the Wyoming job.
  14. https://missouristatebears.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/dalen-ridgnal/7450 This guy apparently hit the portal as a grad transfer. Played at Georgia also and from KC.

  16. Are we sure this is the criteria? Have we seen that from someone at the BE? Not arguing that our performance has been less than inspiring in men's basketball, just wondering if that is the most important criterai for adding a member. And this is an honest question, I have no idea how these decisons are made or what criteria is used.
  17. I hope we are still in the hunt for Kasean Pryor. Had heard we were on his list 4-6 weeks ago but it has been quiet. He looks like the stretch 4 we need at 6'10" and 35% from 3. And he played at Boise for a year so he must know how to play D.

  19. I will never put a poster on ignore. I like reading all of the comments (time permitting), even the ones I disagree with. Here is the problem as I see it....recently a few posters have turned every single thread/topic into fire Ford. Every.single.thread. We get it. You want to move on. But posting about it a 1000 times on a message board does about as much good as stomping your feet. Don't buy tickets. Send the AD an email with your thoughts. Withhold your donations. Those are going to be more effective than constantly chirping on a message board.
  20. Not advocating for or against the coach, but he would be a great hire for New Mexico State. They need someone to stabilize the program after the mess of this year.
  21. I wasn’t too impressed. Eating my hat now. I wonder if she gets feelers this off season? Pretty impressive 2 year run and obviously she can coach.
