If the Blue Crew gets us 50 kids at every game (they get more than that) that is 50 more than we had 5 years ago. The student turnout had been zero for going on 30 years or more save for a couple short binges in our one Larry year and the two NCAA years with Clagget and Co.

Could you cite some recent examples? I believe the last couple years we have identified who we wanted and have got them. There is a ton of talent in the Jr, soph, and frosh classes in the St. Louis area. Maybe the strongest three years the area has ever seen. Brad has us set up to take more than our share. If Powell, Griffey, Suggs, etc all go elsewhere then you may have something.

At the SIUE-UMSL game tonite the Cougars had about 50 kids in their "Red Storm" and probably 100 more students spread out through the gym. Unfortunately that beats the SLU student turnout on most nights. I do appreciate the turnout we do get. This blue crew regime has been the best since we had students dressed as gorillas in the old barn when spoon was here.

It's one game. Tommie hasn't exactly lit it up this year. His shooting is pretty bad. If he is ineffective than why not try someone else.

C'mon gentlemen. Soderberg went small and fast with a bunch of ballhandlers to match up against a much much bigger team. It backfired. Not everything works every time. Plus our shooting has been horrific. Brown and drejaj have missed layups and open jumpers repeatedly. We are down by 9 at the half. We are definetly still in this one.

Correct the NCAA never divulges the system they use to determine who gets in the tourney.

Richmond is near the top in the country in scoring defense. They only allow 50 points a game. The Spiders only have 7 scholarship players on the roster and one of them is hurt. Their top player so far this season has been Jermaine Bunknor a 6'7 forward. He shoots 37% from 3 point range and gets over 12 points a game with 4 boards. Going into the season their big man 6'11 Kevin Steenburge was picked 2nd all A-10 but he has underwhelmed, or maybe no A-10 guys knew how good Ian was. Steenburge gets 9 points a game and has less than 5 boards a game, hardly gaudy stats for a center. peter Thomas a 6'5 Jr guard has been on a decent shooting streak going 15-20 from the field the last 4 games. Richmond has a decent record but their schedule has been weak. Their two wins in A-10 were against the 2 worst teams in the league. SLU should go into their place and beat them. They are a severely undermanned squad and the Bills have to get these type of wins on the road if we want to get in postseason play. A loss would be a big dissapointment.

I agree JJ was not that inspired out there. Yell at him on the bench and then throw him bakc in there. Keep his head in the game. Newborne adds nothing, he makes as many mistakes as JJ does. He foolishly takes his man off the dribble and puts up as many ill advised shots as JJ does. When we play a 4 guard set if JJ can't cut it, let Husak show what he can do. At the very least he disrupts shots in and around the paint. Thats more than JJ or VN are doing at thsi point. I don't know why but Husak always gets benched in the second half. First half he is okay to give Ian a blow, but 2nd half we have to go to one of the ineffective PFs.

Meyer gives up too much size wise especially if he is the big ( and I use that term loosely) in a 4 guard offense like VN was last night. In a normal situation he may be a better rebounder than VN but matched up against a 6'8 240 guy he has no chance.

I like what Meyer does when he is on the court but right now he is the odd man out. Unfortunately the next worst player in the rotation is polk. Meyer cannot take his minutes because he cannot play polk's position. I too would like to see less of VN but I don't think Meyer can handle the boards any better than VN does. Also Meyer out there as the lone post up player like VN was last night is not feasible. In order to get playing time Meyer has to start hitting 3s. Until he does that unless there is a ton of injuries of someone totally collapses he is looking at garbage time only.

The ACC, Big Least, Big 10 and Big 12 have enough of these dudes on their payroll. Good to see someone pimpin the A-10 for a change.
