Now, the imposter has again misused the same word-there. The phony VTIME shortened "they are" to "there" instead of "they're." VTIME, I'm truly concerned about this obvious attempt to smear your reputation. I know from reading your modest description of yourself (in the Asst. Coach thread) that you would never be confused about when to use there/their/they're. I founded the original message board/SLU fan website ten years ago and have been a loyal poster ever since, yet certain posters still question whether I am a "fan" because I question Brad from time to time. billiken_roy Posted May 9, 2006 Share Posted May 9, 2006 i love nate, but i would attack my mother if she tried to negatively make the billikens out to be something they werent. imo, coach soderberg and his staff indeed do work hard recruiting. and it is disappointing for nate to post something that while it may be true he doesnt see coach soderberg at the kirkwood vs eureka games, means he isnt out scouting in a more productive manner. yet no effort was made to present both sides of the picture. that imo was very tommy timmy like from a journalism standpoint and not like the nate that we typically read. and the fact that the likes of p diddy, orange julius, even vtime and others have presented that they indeed have seen coach soderberg and staff at games. then tsuegnekillib has presented the extreme limitations per day the staff is under to see up and coming players. I dont know how well Scott Suggs did either, but he has an offer and Powell doesn't. If he hasn't already qualified he will. This staff has given him more personal attention than anyone else on the team to develop him and they haven't put in all that work to see him go to a JUCO. I dont think they ever remove anyone, but you have to be pretty good to get on there in the first place, usually having at least one mid to high-major offer. I do not doubt that he does have advance knowledge of many of the games around the local hoops scene. However, I do know for a fact that he comments on many athletes that he has no first hand knowledge of and acts as if they deserve more attention when they clearly do not. And as far as my hole, well, I do believe that while quantity does not supercede quality or longevity, that since I began posting on this board long before you, then a hole I do not have to crawl back into. Maybe there are some players he comments on that he has not seen play before but it sounds like he's pretty hooked in to the local scene and knows how to get info on these guys. Maybe he talks to his connections who alert him about a certain player. Maybe he lets us know when someone gets some pub on Rivals. I'm sure BS saw a lot of Kevin Lisch's games over his four years at Althoff, as you did. But I find it strange that with the large amount of high school games I cover every season — this is covering the best teams and players in the St. Louis are, not the worst like tseugnekillib has suggested — that I've only seen him a couple times in three years. I did say he could be spending all his time at Linn High School or somewhere else. Maybe he's in the Pacific Northwest region recruiting Bigfoot to play power forward. He could be out watching a game every night — maybe even games that Kramer isn't playing — but I'm surprised I haven't seen him much in the last three years. We'll see what happens in the next few years. Soderberg's hard work with recruiting obviously paid off in getting Kevin Lisch and Tommie Liddell. If he's able to build on that with the next few recruiting classes, he'll have a lot of success and all of the Billiken fans will rejoice (led by VTIMe in his Dwayne Polk jersey). billiken_roy Posted May 9, 2006 Share Posted May 9, 2006 does suggs school have a history of kids not passing the ACT? i dont know, i am asking you and trying to give you reasons that maybe powell doesnt have an offer yet. personally, i hope leon does become a billiken, but it is a tough act to decide who to offer, who to visit, who to sign, etc. i know i would hate to be a college athletic program recruiter. if leon powell is not getting an offer, it isnt because brad hasnt seen him or no one is promoting him. i suspect it is for an off court reason as not much else makes sense. that is why i keep asking the question. i have heard that more than one "honor student" at vashon, had difficulty getting the level of ACT score that is normally assiciated with the typical honor student.
