Let's start with this from earlier in the this thread...

The Double Bye Chart

Step 1...Rich & Bonnies lose...Complete

Step 2...The Bills beat RI...Complete

Step 3 ...Bonnies lose to Rich

Step 4 ...The Bills beat VCU

Step 5... Double Bye

Anybody who says The Bills can't finish need to watch a replay of this game  starting at the 4:23 mark and The Bills down 1...finishing the game on a 12-5 run even with Okoro fouling out around the 2 min mark. A great win.

A quad tip o' the cap to Collins who chalked up a rare quadruple nickel....10 pts..9 assts.. 5 rebs..5 stls

Tips also go to Thatch  on his 3rd Dou Dou..21pts and 13 rebs  and also Jimerson...leading scorer with 22pts and five 3s.

Let's look at the rest of the numbers...Bolded statements are from the original post.

They can't shoot FTs EXCEPT Sheppard ..don't foul him ...he shoots 82% from the line. ... They shot 46% from the line and Sheppard had no FTs..0-0

The game might be decided at the charity stripe ...At first glance this might seem like a fail but in the end it turned out to be true. Our poor  63% FT shooting beat the extra poor RI 46% and yielded The Bills an extra 5 pts... A difference maker.

47 / 37 / 77 ...This turned out to be the key to the game...in particular the 3Pt shooting...instead of 37% , we came in at 47%...we took 3 more 3Pt shots than Rhody and made them all.

TOs 11...This looked bad in the beginning of the game...Do you remember when we were down double digits in the beginning ...TOs were the reason...we gave up 6 in the opening minutes of the game...going at a rate of 20/gm which would have spelled sure defeat.  And then we stopped ...only 3 more for the rest of the game...an excellent 9 total. ..another difference maker.

Either score 70 or hold them to 60. ..We chose the high road.

Rebs 5+...This was a bit short but no damage done as we outscored them 18-10 on 2nd chance pts.

Keep all RI players to single digit scoring ..This was a miss as they had 3 players in double digits but again no harm because we had 4 players in double digits.. They had an extra 12 pts over single digits. Jimerson by himself was 13 over.

are fairly deep using up to 9 players with significant minutes (10+ min) ...They used 9 players with 12+ min...They are who they are...

Bottom line...Reviewing the Double Bye Chart at the top of the post ...It is time to move on to Step 3.

The schedule you laid down to get the double bye is working out so far. We are close to it, but need to beat VCU and have Richmond beat St. Bona. Team Rankings favors St. Bona against Rich with 3 stars of confidence, no Vegas line yet. I have to assume they will also favor VCU against us. So, what we have ahead are two tough games both for Richmond and for us. SLU and Rich can win but it will not be easy. In terms of the record of games played both in the OOC and the A10, we have played 3 more games than St. Bona and have won one more game but lost two more games than St. Bona overall. Since the number of games played has not been the same, I have no idea how this will be resolved in term of assigning seeds for the tournament.

There is nothing we can do about Richmond vs St. Bona, but we know Richmond plays a good hard game and St. Bona has had injuries affecting their game. As far as SLU vs VCU goes, we have much better stats than VCU for offense, and VCU has slightly better stats than SLU for defense. St. Bona has better stats than Rich in defense and the opposite happens in the offense. Rich and St. Bona's stats are closer to one another overall, while we are definitely better in our offensive stats than VCU is. Interesting mix of offense and defense for both pregames stats.

I believe both SLU and Richmond may win these games. Whatever happens, with or without the double bye we have to focus on the A10 tournament and win it. Ford showed some interesting moves for our game last night. Let's hope this creativity holds throughout the A10 tournament. Go Bills!

@Bay Area Billiken---- what are you seeing on SBUnfurled on Osunniyi's status for Friday night?  VCU hammered the Bonnies without Osun, making 27 shots for the game.  Amazingly, outside of 4 threes, 22 of their 23 made shots were layups and/or dunks.  No Osun; no problem.  Richmond doesn't play that hard, physical game like VCU.  They are more finesse.  Still, the best chance for an outcome we want and need is for Schmidt to decide Osun's health is more important for DC rather than fourth place.  That's a tough call however.  Three games instead of four.

The official injury report on the sports data sites are currently listing O2 as questionable for the Rich game

With the big disclaimer I am not a physician or health care provider (HCP), after consultation with a HCP, I would be surprised if he could play 6 days post injury, expect his playing to be more a possibility in 12-13 days (~2 weeks) post-injury in DC at the A10 Tourney.  Of course. I haven’t seen an actual diagnosis, am assuming he has a sprained ankle.

He’s a star player, a big time difference maker.
