I would much prefer we get a player like Linssen than a 5 star prima Donna. The latter types seem to disrupt team chemistry. We had enough of that with Gordon.
Haha don’t worry, we don’t stand a chance at landing Bates

Murray State is joining the MVC, but your point is still valid (albeit with slightly longer dives)

A truly great name. I remember him coaching at SEMO. Brother of football coach Houston Nutt.
That is an interesting fact. I wonder how many sets of brothers are out there with one having coached NCAA football and the other NCAA basketball.

I wonder how much growing Hughes has potentially available. The Murray twins were my height (6'3) when they finished HS, shorter than their dad. Only W. Illinois offered them. They went to one of those prep school basketball factories in Florida and grew another 3-4 inches. That was crucial to getting scholarships at Iowa. They have only developed from there. I am hoping Larry has a similar trajectory. A man can dream, can't he?
I thought of another wiry, son-of-a-former-NBAer who played for a now A10 team, so you aren't the only one dreaming

I think Schasz is taking a little too much heat for saying he had higher expectations for Travis Ford so far. Other than that he just believes the rumors and is getting crucified for sharing them on here. I am not buying the rumors, but I am glad he shared them here.
Context matters, and it is hard to read Schasz’s posts on there without thinking he/she views SLU as a side show at best. Just look at the language used. And I am someone who has been disappointed by Ford’s results on the court.

Yea they have moved into the portion of the discussion where they dump our program -
"St. Louis has fans?"
"They had zero clue Nesbitt was leaving until he announced today too."
This.. seems like a stretch? The Yuri family has been following UT closely?

Thank you for sharing the link. @Schasz's posts on Vol Nation makes it pretty clear where his/her loyalties lie.

Censorship is a dangerous thing, tho. OP has a long line of credibility in his defense, as well as the first amendment. Taking the digital sharpie out to redact isn’t what our country is about. This isn’t an Info Wars type of claim, either. If Schaz is the Deepthroat of the board, I’ll be damned, but he has not led us astray in the past.
The First Amendment does not apply to a privately-ran message board, Metz. That is why Steve has been able to censor you over and over throughout the years. I do not blame anyone for being frustrated with OP sharing gossip from another team's message board and then following up with an apparent bias toward Tennessee.

I heard BJ Edwards plans to ask to be released from his LOI because he's interested in coming to SLU

How many did he end with? I am finding it hard to locate G League stats online.

I just don't see JP's ability to create his own shot take away from Yuri's superior ability to create it for him any more often than the # of possessions in a game (granted, more than a few) where we have no other option. It will only increase points scored and efficiency in doing so *knocks on wood*
It's not like JP will be taking the ball down the court, or running the offense as the primary ball handler. He'll be option #1 in any number of offensive schemes with Yuri feeding him. GJ as option #2. Franko as option #3?! I like that a whole hell of a lot.
This is all pretty silly. Yuri's usage will be way down, which means it will be incredibly unlikely for his APG to increase. Plus a lot of Perkins' points will be from semi-isolation sets.

He was on the channel 5 sports tonight. I worry we won’t be competitive in this game. With all due respect to this board I don’t see anyone in our program taking up the call like Bowers or Demetrius Johnson.
Please explain. I struggle to see how someone like Bowers is a better choice for that role than a booster with real money.

Kansas started 6’10” and 6’8” last night. Worked pretty well for them.
6’8” wing player who was a consensus 4 star recruit. Yes, I think everyone would be comfortable with us doing the same.

Butler hired Thad matta. That is an amazing hire, will be in the top 5 with that hire
Home run hire if he can assemble a staff that will hit the ground running in recruiting. Matta is only 54 too.

2.9 and 1.5 isn’t much difference. But I guess you can say what you want. Let’s give the young man a chance.
Lol. I’m sure he will get a chance. The hyperbole in the tweet is the main reason I commented.

Bess was starting his sophomore year before getting hurt.

1.5 ppg in 20 games played over two years. Not exactly a Javon Bess addition.

Collier hired Stevens and Holtmann. He isn’t looking to offload culpability.
True. That comment wasn’t intended to be specific to Butler, but it probably appeared that way.

I'm guessing there was some high level booster in fighting/pressure in how this went down so late. That's why AD's need to have a secret short-list of possible coaches. I never understood paying a search firm unless it's just a way to circumvent contacting certain coaches. Coaching searches intrigue me so much. I need to start my own search firm, how does one get into such things? Hire an ex-AD?
It’s pretty simple. ADs figured out a way to offload culpability for potential mistakes related to their number one responsibility. It’s similar to what many Corporate execs do, but much more effective.

Butler has always been delusional about their status in the college bball world. I have no sympathy for their struggles.

There is good, reasonable debate about our draw. I think it is very favorable all things considered.
England: Possibly the most talented team, and my current pick to win it all. Nonetheless, there will be some favorable external factors, including playing the day after Thanksgiving.
Wales/Scotland/Ukraine: Wales is the favorite to make it, but Ukraine may be the most talented of the three. Wales does not scare me. Gareth Bale is aging quickly. Overall, they are not the same team that made the semi-finals of the 2016 Euros.
Iran: I do not know much about their squad. We cannot be scared of Iran if we want to continue improving our global stature in the sport.

Pre covid or I guess maybe its bc of the baby, but whatever, I issued to live at Amsterdam in the AM. I'm used to it and like martying - made it up oh well. It just sucks that its during the work week. No clue why, but I have this weird feeling Fifa doesn't care for USSF and will give us all the earliest times.
Also I'm pretty sure there's an 8am time slot, right?
I believe the kick-off times in the group stage are 5:00 am, 8:00 am, 11:00 am, and 2:00 pm central

Beatable currently, but they have the talent to be very, very good. Would not surprise me to see them pretty far in the knockout.
Sure, they have talent as is evidenced by their placement in pot 1. Nonetheless, they are my preferred opponent outside of Qatar from pot 1.

Here’s my dream draw: Qatar, USA, Iran, Saudi Arabia.
That would be great. Portugal is another beatable team from pot 1.
Canada is in pot 4. It is very possible their group will end up being the group of death unless they are drawn with Qatar.
-
FYI - Coverage of the World Cup draw can be found at 10:30 central on FS1 and on FIFA.com. The draw itself should begin at 11:00 am. Cross your fingers to be drawn into Qatar's group, as they are clearly the weakest team from Pot 1.
