Well guys I read the whole 13 pages of comments, most the first half of them reflecting anger and despair. I was there tonight, the Fetz was about 60% full, lots of empty chairs, but there was enthusiasm and support in the crowd. Lots of boos to the refs. I am delighted that we won and the crowd was also happy as we all filed out of the arena. I thought Reggie did a wonderful job, particularly that rebound about two minutes into overtime that seemed to tip the game our way. He did a couple of crossovers which scored and his big beefy presence was a plus in rebounding. I though Miles Reynolds did very well. Ash was great, Yarbourough played well, although with glitches, and we are moving on forward. Good for the Bills, may they repeat this type of win many times more. Please remember that we have freshmen guarding experienced upperclassmen, this is a really tough thing to do. All in all the team, a very young team, continues learning and improving. We are far from perfect but we are getting better. I am very happy after the game tonight.

I listened to J Crews interview and heard the sad news that Mike Crawford had a family death earlier in the academic year. Perhaps this was the cause for his mysterious weight loss in the fall. I wanted to start a separate thread for this but just do not know how to do it. Just wanted to tell Mike how sorry I, and the group, are for his loss. A family loss at an early age may be a totally devastating event leading to despondency. Mike has shown a level of endurance and a strength of character that few can muster at his age. I wanted to express my most heartfelt condolences for his loss and my admiration for his achievements this year despite his loss.

Yes, a real shame this happened to him. I wish him all the best.

The way I see it we can withstand a few projects as long as they can show they are improving and learning. Everyone coming in has to learn and has to bulk up. It takes time. What we cannot withstand is people warming the bench in an ongoing basis because they are just not doing what they are supposed to do during practice.

SLU 72 JM is a Senior, he will graduate. Yes he is not good although he can defend and he can make a few baskets. JM's hands are soft and he drops passes and rebounds. GG is not going to play again, not for us, he will also graduate. If he has any availability time left, he might be able to get a 1 year scholarship for his Master's work and play elsewhere. I think a D2 level school would be a better place for him as the presumably lower level of play might provide some extra protection for his shoulder. Obviously, after spending a lot of time in rehab for his shoulder, he does not want to ruin all of the work done. About Wellmer and Neufeld, we will find out next year won't we?

A fairly sloppy game, we missed some wide open layups that would have made the difference at the end. I think we keep on improving and getting closer and one of these days we are going to break through and start winning.

Taj, I hope you are wrong about RA. If he does develop, even to a degree where we can use him consistently (not a star), he could become a significant plus for the team.

Valid points Roy, however a lot depends on how the players develop for the rest of the season and next year. I think it is possible that a number of our freshmen will develop beyond your expectations. I think it is too early to say at this time. I also think RA has made definite progress and may become more of a significant player in the future, I think the same about MC. I agree a number of the freshmen need to bulk up a fair amount and I will hold any comments on them until they do.

SLU 72, remember Jordair's play in his Freshman year? Yarbrough may be more similar to him than we realize, he will learn.

OK, by what I heard from the announcers, GM shoots FTs in the mid 60%s. Tonight they had the FT night of their lives with what has to be well over 80%. That plus the fact that they went to the FT line 10 times more than SLU sealed the game for them. Crawford played well.

That is what makes the process a lot of fun to watch, sometimes (maybe often) the fun may turn into pain. That is the way it is.

I have been looking at the storm's projected snow falls and current paths, New York apparently will get significantly less snow than what was projected, the heavy snow will fall in New England. This means that areas of the East Coast South of NY are likely to get even less snow. Of course, transportation depends not only upon the amount of snow falling down, but upon the local capability and equipment availability to remove it efficiently. A 2 inch snow fall in DC may be crippling, whereas a 2 inch snow fall in NY or north of NY is next to negligible in terms of its impact on transportation. We will see what happens but it does not look like such a terrible and crippling snow storm will hit Virginia this time.

I believe that as far as Vegas is concerned, the important number is the spread, not whether one team wins or not. As such, they missed badly in their spread estimates for that game. The final spread for that game, as per Team Rankings, was VCU 73.8 to SLU 61.2, a spread of 12.6 in favor of VCU. The actual score of VCU 63, SLU 61, a spread of 2.0 in favor of VCU, was not a good outcome for them. They have to tighten their estimates in order to avoid this kind of a miss.

It is water under the bridge, look ahead, not behind. We all get older and less capable. Situations like the one you describe will happen again someday, and SLU will continue doing its thing and moving forward for better or for worse.

Roy, it is nice to read your posts again, welcome back.

Slufan13 there is a vast difference between someone who really has knowledge about something and someone who is putting up airs and building a fake image regardless of who he hurts. I have full confidence that you are among the ones that know what he is talking about and has valid information. As far as the other person goes, I think he has a future in politics.

I think it is too early to say what will happen to us this year. It depends on many factors. We have come within a hair's breadth of winning over GW and over VCU, not bad performances. We keep improving and our team's play keeps on getting better. We still have over half of the regular A10 season to play and then there is the A10 tournament. Who is to say that we are not going to win a whole string of games before the A10 season ends and or in the A10 tournament. Remember out team last year? We were really really good, but reached the end of the conference play and the A10 tournament with 5 starters that were very tired and had all kinds of minor dings and injuries. We made it to NCAA but did not go as far as we could have in the big dance. I think it is possible we may be facing play with teams that are increasingly tired or have had injuries after the wear and tear of this season. We may win a lot of games still, who knows for sure otherwise? Now, whatever we do post season will or may be dependent upon how we continue play for the reminder of the season and the A10 tournament. Let's sit down and enjoy it. I for one really enjoyed watching our kids playing VCU, they played well. I intend to do the same for the reminder of the season. I hope we win a lot, and if we do, I hope we get to some kind of post season play. If not, I will still enjoy seeing how our team continues improving, which I am pretty sure they will do. I think our freshmen have learned a lot so far this year and will continue doing so. We will be a really good team and win a lot next year.

No Dwayne's_World what you are really saying is: "Look at me, I know something that no one else knows, it is likely going to hurt Grandy and being the respectful wonderful person I am I will keep my mouth shut." What you are doing is getting the spotlight on yourself regardless of who you may hurt and regardless of how bad your inside information is, which judging by your prior posts about Grandy is very inaccurate. You would serve yourself much better by keeping whatever rumors or innuendo you have in this regard to yourself. Leave the guy alone, he is obviously not going through a happy period in his life, respect his privacy and let him deal with it as he will do in time.
