  1. Let's teach him to trip guys on the opposing teams, because he reminds me a lot, not just his name, of Grayson Allen. Common Ford, let's land this guy.
  2. On every one of Jett's drives for a lay up on this video, our center is at the three point line. It's what RM wanted. Almost every game, the first offensive play was a pick and pop to Loe. Whether he made it or not, it forced his defender to come out to the three point line with him. This opened up the lane. This was just one of the ways that RM was a coaching genius.
  3. I agree with what your are saying. I'd rather have Santos on the team and a healthy Welmer, but isn't what you just described what Majerus did with nearly every one of his teams. He had one big pounding the inside, and one big out by the three point line. The outside big opened up the middle of the court for the inside big and vice versa.
  4. It's a tradition. The game gets both teams tons of press in the STL. It is great for both team's recruiting in the area.
  5. I'm sorry, but I long for the days when someone could drop a big ass donation on a university and it gave him a little bit of pull with the dean. Doesn't anyone remember Rodney Dangerfield in Back to School? The donation to create the Thornton Melon's Tall and Fat School of Business got him into the university and onto the dive team. That's the way it's supposed to be. If it cost Rex an extra $35 million to the university's general fund to get his $15 million faculty position, then that was good negotiating on SLU's part.
  6. By the way, kuddos to the folks that do scheduling. We've always had difficulties scheduling quality opponents. This year's schedule should leave no complaints in the selection committee's eyes.
  7. McCauley and Bonner are easy. The problem with Majerus is the his impact on the program was submarined by his predecessor. Same problem with Hughes. His only being here one year didn't really result in the program being elevated. For my final two, I'll go Bob Ferry and ...... Travis Ford. I'm betting on him getting us to our first Sweet Sixteen in the next few years. This would immediately put him on the mountain. I'm also counting on him seeing that staying at a place like SLU and having job security while running a Villanova, Gonzaga, Xavier, St. Mary's, Wichita State type program is better than cashing in at a big state school and then getting fired after a few years.
  8. I love having a coach that is so good at recruiting that he can back off of kids that he thinks may have off the court issues. Too many coaches out there have to take kids that could spell disaster. Ford doesn't have to and appears to avoid problem signings, for the most part.
  9. For thirty years or more, Billiken fans and the media have been saying that the best team a coach could create at SLU would be one that mixes in some of St. Louis's top talent with other talent from the rest of the country. Ford is the first coach that I can recall that is actually doing this. I know that some had success like this in one recruiting class or two, but Ford has been consistently doing this in every recruiting class. Now, we just have to hope that everyone who has said that this is the winning combination has been right all along.
  10. The Goodwin fade away shot toward the end of the video has me the most excited. If he can do that consistently, he'll average over 15 a game.
  11. S2 and other examples out there show that the system is out of whack right now and not doing a good enough job protecting the accused. I don't care who is fixing it. It just needs to be fixed. Regardless of someone's politics, I think we would agree that this problem was created when one party was in power. They may have been right in their intentions, but were wrong in their complete failure to implement protections for accused parties that our legal system has required since we have been a country. If Devos corrects the problem, then that's a good thing regardless of her politics.
  12. And here comes the expected backlash from the uninformed: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2018/08/31/devos-sexual-assault-investigation-changes/1157376002/
  13. I guess this is a message to his future teammates on whatever team he ends up on that he wants the number 3.
  14. I found it interesting that his father equates stats and personal, and to be fair team, accomplishments with representing the State of Kentucky well. I'm willing to bet there are players who are far below his son's skill level who also represent themselves, their school, and, I guess, the State of Kentucky well. I'm not saying that his son doesn't represent well. I just don't think that the things that his father cited automatically equal representing the State well.
  15. Thank you for this new development. The board had gone stale for about a month. Go land this guy Travis.
  16. When I said "shooting" or "outside shooting," I wasn't referring to just shooting from three. I was referring to all shooting other than dunks or layups by our bigs. If shooting doesn't improve, we may not hit the expectations this board has set up for the team. If it does improve, from three and from two, then I think we're competing for the league title and hoping for a second weekend in the tournament.
  17. I think it is interesting that all these folks at the various departments at SLU are fretting about the budget problems when it was the faculty in those same department that ran Biondi out of town because he was trying to do things to fix the pending budget problem. Guess what faculty, you made your bed, now sleep in it. Because of their unwillingness to see what the administration under Biondi saw was coming, we now all have to deal with Pestello. Thanks, guys.
  18. This coming year will come down to shooting. Our defense will be more than solid. Rebounding will be great. Our inside game on both ends will be more than sufficient. If outside shooting is good, then we will have the success that many on the board are predicting. If not.... that's where the high hopes we have may run into a bit of a road block.
  19. Let's all agree that Pistol should never buy his own drinks when he's ever out drinking with anyone on this board.
  20. The problem is that the rest of the field drags down the Billikens' true odds. I think the field was a 200-1 bet. Betting on the Billikens individually should give better odds.
  21. There's no fun in betting the Billikens when my ticket says I'm betting the field.
  22. Just got back from Vegas on Monday. You still can't bet the Billikens on futures bets. In the A-10 you only can bet Davidson, St. Joe, and the Bonnies. Everything else is just the field.
  23. You beat me to saying the exact same thing. I hope his dad is already teaching him how to set picks.
  24. If I had to pick an A-10 team to be good at the same time we are and develop into a rivalry every year as we are fighting for A-10 titles, it would be St. Joe's. I think a good St. Joe's program brings notoriety to the league.
  25. I'm hoping he sees that the best job stability comes from building a powerhouse outside of the P5.
