  1. good post A Bomb, thanks for putting the effort into it.   The issue is that too many are still content with mediocrity. It will have to get much, much worse for that group (we all know who we’re talking about here) to ever call for May or Ford’s job.

Mediocrity = smaller crowds= shorter bathroom/food lines, shorter waits for golf cart ride to/from garage, fewer drunk young people yelling obscenities, cheaper tickets, more elbow space/open seats, etc.  There is a large section of Billiken fandom for whom Billiken games are mainly a social event/ easy way to get out of the house on a weeknight… sold out crowds/attention on the program only threaten all that.  We see this group only dig their heels deeper when confronted with the program’s current direction under May and Ford.

I am obviously being somewhat exaggerative here, but it is based on truth, although none would admit it. Far too many are happy with the way things are. I fear it will take multiple seasons of Crews-level mediocrity before we see any real change at a coaching or AD level.

  2. If you’re a big time donor, are you going to give money to a BVF under Ford’s control?   I have absolutely no inside info, but I imagine the pocketbooks would open up a little bit more under Mack, Bryce Drew, or basically anyone else.  Ford has shown he doesn’t know how to recruit in the NIL era. Would be a terrible investment.

  3. Fan pressure/opinion is one of the main drivers of decision making in college athletics.  I doubt Texas A&M was thrilled about paying jimbo fisher $70mil+ to buy him out, but their fans would’ve rioted had they kept him any longer.  To stay silent on Ford is to be complicit in this program’s slow painful death.  Seems to be exactly what Chris May wants…. So no, we wont and shouldn’t keep quiet. Ford’s repeated failures should be the predominant talking point of this board until he is fired or shows he can fix them (he hasn’t fixed them in 8 years here, don’t imagine that’s coming any time soon).  We are all here because we love SLU hoops, to sit on our hands and act like this program isn’t in disastrous shape with Ford at the helm is outrageous.  I won’t do it.

I get it.  I'm even cool if you guys pin a thread to the top where you vent about all of Coach Ford shortcomings every game.  But hijacking every thread to vent about Coach Ford isn't fair to the other posters on this board.  We didn't do anything to you.

It’s a gameday thread… for yet another game where we were unprepared and non competitive (until the last five minutes, by which point it was too late).   If we can’t discuss our coach’s deficiencies here, we can’t discuss them anywhere. Maybe every thread can stop being hijacked with excuses for why we are totally non-competitive.   “if only Parker played we would’ve won”  First, I don’t believe that and I’d argue anyone who isn’t wearing Blue tinted glasses would agree he wouldn’t have prevented wide open shots and a total lack of inside presence.  Second, ENOUGH of the excuses for why we lose.  Parker isn’t available. Injuries happen to every team.  They have a new coach and 11 new players and they wiped the floor with us for 35 minutes.

  5. People saying we win that with Parker are delusional.  Our trouble was not on offense, it was that they could get a wide open shot literally whenever they wanted.   We had to double the post almost every possession, and they did a phenomenal job of kicking out to open shooters.  And if we didn’t double, their bigs feasted.  Parker doesn’t change any of that.

  6. On a positive, Jimerson played his a$$ off.  Man was getting mauled all game with zero help from the zebras.  He has really evolved his game, seeing him fill it up at the rim, and efficiently at that, was really impressive.  On the other hand, I’d love to see what he would’ve been capable of as a 3rd or 4th scoring option on a top 25 team.  Glad he’s a Billiken though, and hope he’s collecting a much deserved NIL bag as a result.

This honestly feels worse than watching Crews first (real) year.  At least then it was freshmen.

No . This is the least hopeful I’ve been for this program since Soderberg.  All ford could do was recruit and now he can’t even do that.   At least with crews we knew his days were numbered.  Seems as though we are stuck with Ford.

    Lol are you kidding? Referees?

Jerry Pollard lets teams play. You should check the officials before coming up with that.

We aren't playing bad, they're just bigger and hitting layups.

You lose all credibility with this statement. They get wide open shots and layups whenever they want. That is the definition of playing bad.
