  1. I think DP is on a roll right now and he will be the one to lead us to a victory on Friday....in every way we need.
  2. Kevin tore the webbing between two fingers (I think the pointer and middle) on his shooting hand...they stitched him up and he should be back on Monday...definitely by UNC.
  3. Was that "Saint Louis" written on the floor about 30 seconds into the video or am I just seeing what I want to be seeing?
  4. >Alright i already posted this but it got burried with the >pacific game talk and im too lazy to find it and i was >hoping to hear what bluecrewprez thought about my questions. > >First I wanna say good job on being rowdy at the last home >game even with not alot of people. Thanks! >Second Have you thought about taking your cheers and chants >to teh crowd and try to get the whole crowd to join in. >Example: The Sit Down chant when someone fouls out >Airball chant That's a great idea actually.....Maybe we can start that with the UNC game...or if I have time this weekend to get them copied at the Missouri State game. >For everyone to do the "were gonna beat the hell outta you, >you, you etc... chant >maybe pass out flyers or try to get on the Jumbotron I don't know if we could get the "hell" put on the screen...they don't even like us to say "suck"...but that could definitely be a possibility. I'll go into them on Monday and see what they think. Thanks for the suggestions!!
  5. This year we tried something different and got rid of the attendence requirement for our members (because it hasn't exactly worked in the past...last year only 6 non-eboard members met the requirement), so basing the system on games attended/my familiarity with the person could get me in trouble with people thinking I'm using favoritism to determine who gets how many tickets. Also, those people who are sending me angry e-mails are only getting one ticket from me...they paid for their season tickets so who am I to say they can't have what is in fact theirs? Also, we've only had 3 regular season home games: Quincy was a D-2 school (real crowd-drawer), Houston was over Thanksgiving Break, and Western Illinois was the weekend before finals at 1:00 in the afternoon (a bit of a problem for the freshmen scared of finals). These games have not been ideal times to be able to get every member out there. Of our 409 members, 350 are freshmen....and of those 350 freshmen, there are about 250-300 that knew jack squat about Billiken Basketball before they started the school year. Since these past 3 games haven't been ideal times or against ideal teams (besides Houston), these kids have not had a chance to build a knowledge or attachment to our team. I'm not knocking the band--because I love them more than anything at those games--but you guys have people across all ages who have been Billiken Basketball fans for (some of them) decades. We are dealing with the fresh meat trying to make them into a Billiken Basketball Empire LIKE the band. We're trying. Wait to write us off until the first game back from Christmas Break...then I'll be more than willing to have this convo again.
  6. he's been trying to tell me to do a parade for over a year... P.S. I don't know if anyone posted this already (I'm sure it's old news by now), but I just heard that one of my friends went in the early afternoon today to get tickets and all 1000 tickets had been claimed. If I get to the game and I see an unfamiliar face in the front 5 rows (i.e. not in BLUE CREW...I don't mean parents or friends...just as long as their with a BC member), I'm gonna throw a hissy-fit....keep an eye out for the girl in the viking hat: you mess with the bull you get the HORNS!!!
  7. We are trying our best to get people to the games, but when games are over breaks, it becomes difficult to get those people there. Not to mention that at the game last Saturday, we didn't have a bus driver to take us because they thought "no one was coming" so they went to Del Taco for 45 minutes and we had to take the Humphrey's bus (thanks to Jan at Humphrey's for making sure the CREW got there and back). Please don't think that we are not trying to get students out because we are trying harder than ever to do it this year. Doesn't the band get some sort of monetary compensation or something like that? This UNC ticket thing is driving me crazy, by the way.....everyone in BLUE CREW can request 6 tickets for each game over break, and there were so many requests for the UNC game that no one got more than 2. Now I've been getting angry e-mails saying they want their ticket (even if they missed the request deadline), so I am giving them my own personal tickets (I'm down to 2 now for myself). I had to stand in line this morning at 8:30am to get an extra ticket myself. And I've already gotten about 20 emails from non-BLUE CREWers trying to get tickets out of me. INSANE!!!
  8. http://www.ohio.com/mld/beaconjournal/spor...ll/16183921.htm University of Texas-El Paso basketball player Darren Clarke, 22, was arrested after an argument with his girlfriend turned physical. Clarke, a 6-foot-4 junior transfer from Saint Louis, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of assault in connection with a domestic violence call, police said. He was released Wednesday from the El Paso County Jail on $2,500 bail. UTEP coach Tony Barbee said university officials are investigating the incident.
  9. Since Kramer's father obviously works for SLU, wouldn't he get full tuition remission? That way we'd still have that scholarship to give away Coach is BRILLIANT!!!
  10. Wow that's far away from campus...does anybody go to it?
  11. Where is coach doing his show this year? I'm assuming it's not Joe Bo's anymore...
  12. Kevin came off the court clutching the elbow on his shooting arm about halfway thru the first half. He later came back with an arm sleeve on.
  13. My opinion is that the other teams have learned that the people they need to be on top of are IV and TL, which opens up our other guys and gives them an opportunity to step up and make up for those guys' points, which they have (for the most part). Even if Tommie is taking fewer shots, he has a higher shooting percentage...especially with that newfound 3 of his (feel free to correct me if that last point is incorrect...I'm too lazy to look up stats today).
  14. Welcome to the board! Here is my opinion on the women's basketball team: honestly, until last year, I didn't think women's basketball was a sport (funny especially since I am a female myself). I have also been going to women's games for the last 4 seasons, and what Coach Gray-Miller has done with this squad is absolutely phenomenal. She has taken a team that hasn't had a winning season in 10 years to almost doubling their wins in her first year alone (correct me if I'm wrong on my facts here anybody). Now she has an absolutely stellar freshmen class and a 38th-ranked freshmen class coming in next year. I have said it before and I will continue to say it: within the next 2 seasons, Shimmy will take her team to the top of the A-10 and to the NCAA Tournament. I went to the game vs. Illinois last night, and something that I wanted to mention was that SLU was down by 21 points with like 5 minutes left and they fought back to only go down by 9. They played their hearts out and Shimmy approached that game when we were by down by 21 as if we were only down by 1. That is how you make a championship team: don't let them give up. Their first 5 games were against easier teams than Illinois, but they need to start building somewhere. I think if we played them again next year, we would win.
  15. I am supposed to be volunteering at the College Cup this weekend and I haven't heard that Friday's games have been cancelled from the AD or anything, but I talked to my cousin who one of the head managers at the Renaissance Hotel downtown--where most of the teams are staying--and she read me something that told her tomorrow's games have been cancelled...and that some teams aren't coming in until tomorrow either. I am not trying to tell anybody not to show up tomorrow or anything, but has anybody hear anything like that?
  16. BLUE CREW's got 60 people going. There might end up being more SLU fans than SIUC fans there....
  17. Just come sit in the BLUE CREW section during Christmas Break (excluding UNC, since we should be pretty full)...we'd love the extra voices/Scottrade-security-resistence... Funny you should mention getting thrown out of games...we had 2 members thrown out in the 2nd half. The first was because the kid kept getting out of his seat and standing in the aisle *gasp!* The second I didn't agree with at all...with ~33 seconds left to play, a player on the Houston bench made an extremely offensive gesture directed at me and the girl sitting next to me (I won't go into detail, but I will tell you that I wrote both the Houston AD and their head coach a strongly-worded e-mail about it). Of course, THAT guy doesn't get in trouble, but the kid behind me gets kick out because he called the guy an ass. I don't know what's wrong with the security lately...they're relentless!
  18. I will definitely be at the women's game vs. Illinois. I posted it on another thread, but 2 of my BLUE CREW friends and I road tripped to the SLU vs. SIUC game on Tuesday. We sat right behind the bench and screamed our butts off. Shimmy is a very intense person to watch. If she gets angry, everybody in the crowd gets quiet...when she pumps her fist, so does everybody else. The quote that I liked the most from the article was that when Shimmy gives a speech, "the standard response at the end is to want to run through a wall to help the team." That's exactly how I feel whenever I talk to her. She's just so motivated and passionate, you can't help but want to be involved and support them.
  19. I got on for Danny: "WHAT CAN BROWN DO FOR YOU??" I'm gonna make that one if you don't.
  20. 3 of us BLUE CREWers decided to road trip it to this women's game at SIUC...it was a blast! They looked really really good. We sat right behind the bench and got to hear everything Shimmy told her players. When she yells at them, she yells at them...I was on the sidelines and couldn't look at her (I thought making eye contact would burn a hole through my head or something)...I can imagine the type of motivation her players get NOT to be yelled at by her haha. The SLU media guy told us that this was their first road win since December 2nd, 2003....when the current seniors were freshmen. GO BILLS!!!
  21. I don't know, but I'm sure right to have about 100 dirty e-mails coming my way....
  22. ***PLEASE NOTE: I AM NOT ASKING FOR MONEY IN THIS POST, JUST ASKING FOR FUNDRAISING IDEAS...AND I DO NOT INTEND THIS TO TURN INTO A "BASH THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT" THREAD*** Here's the BLUE CREW's situation in a nutshell: too many members (there's something you/I never thought I'd say), too good of a team (potentially), and too little money. For example, for the first road trip (SLU vs. SIUC), we have over 40 people going....the most we've ever had on a road trip is maybe 20 people. We are in dire need of raising some funds...especially if we make it to the tournament this year. We need ideas for how we could raise some money (we have a goal of $3,000-$4,000). One idea that we had was selling our extra BLUE CREW shirts from last year (I think we have about 50) before/after a basketball game to the fans at Scottrade--which would help, but alone would not get us to our target. I also don't think we should sit back and have donations handed to us...we need to earn it/work for it...so any ideas/thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
