  1. Thought I would join the conversation. I saw Scheyer play 3 times this year at the state tournament and 3 times two years ago also at the state tournament. This year he had some exceptional scoring games and just fell short of Marcus Liberty's scoring record. I certainly didn't see too many weaknesses. He did score alot of points on back door baseline cuts. I thought that his team was the most fundamentally sound team at the tournament which really helps him. The only concern I had with him is a lack of upper body strength that maybe a strong physical defender could give him problems. I've see Lisch play about the same number of times. I would have liked to seen him guard Scheyer. I think Kevin is the better athlete. What sort of surprises me with him going to Duke is that his high school coach is Bruce Weber's brother.
  2. I'm envious. London is a really neat city and I am sure you'll have a great time. Take the Jack the Ripper walking tour. You'll get to see some of the Whitechapel area which is a stark contrast to West London. Keep us posted on what you see.
  3. I think fans come to see a winning team that are exciting offensively and are fun to watch. When Al McGuire was covering a Bills game for Prime Sports, during that season he said, "These guys are really exciting to watch." After these same guys beat Southern Cal, Ed McCauley stated "He hadn't had this much fun watching a game in years". Creighton averages over 12,000 per game and they don't play any of the big boys but they win and are fun to watch.
  4. On Saturday night I watched Ahern smoke Creighton for 27 points, this was one week after he hit for 22 against the same team. He hit several threes and hit some pentrating in the paint shots. I really don't know how he would have done in Conference USA but he certainly has given Creighton fits this year. I've also watched Lorenzo Gordon play and he was very effective inside.
  5. Pretty interesting. I've seen most of the Mo Valley Missouri players. There are some nice players. Watched Lorenzo Gordon last night. Sort of reminded me of Justin Tatum. Was pretty good in the paint, probably better than Justin was.
  6. Thanks for stating that Grawer was the last coach to successfully rebuild. His players are also the top 5 scorers in SLU's history. Last weekend I saw SIU play and looking at their roster I thought that this would be a Grawer type roster with 12 players from Illinois and Missouri. Additionally I personally feel his NIT teams would have been NCAA teams if he was in the Great Midwest or Conference USA.
  7. Thanks Roy and Skip for the coverage. It had to be disappointing to wait all day to see Kevin play and then see him sent to the bench so early. I stayed up and listened to the first half. I did see the kid from Glenbrook play a couple of years ago in Peoria. He really looked good then.
  8. Saw him play Tuesday night in Omaha. He had I believe 12 points. Had two nice threes from the corner. He does play soft offensively though. Kent State played very tough defensively as they beat a good Creighton team.
  9. I get to watch your sponsored player tonight in Omaha. I see he is averaging 12 per game.
  10. I recommend to everyone to try to see him play this year. I've seen him play at least once each year since he was a Freshman. Definitely a treat to watch. The article included this: "He also has mastered the lost art of the mid-range jump shot, braking off the dribble as his defender flies by. " I was mentioning last week to someone that he had this skill which you just don't see too much anymore. Everyone wants to set outside the three point arc. I've seen him come down the court, into the key, elavate and hang from 8 to 10 feet out and adjust his shot. Guess it's the best I can describe it. Just wanted to get my two cents in. P.S. Creighton has a similar player in Nate Funk. He did a job on the Tigers last night.
  11. I've been able to watch Kevin Lisch play 3 or 4 times since his freshman year. He is worth the price of admission and I concur with everything Roy has said about him. Nothing flashy but one solid basketball player. He has a very nice shooting touch and is very good at pulling up from 15 feet out and shooting. So take the time this winter and go watch him play.
  12. Do you have any info on the shootout in Omaha? Thanks in advance.
  13. Schasz, Was this before they hired Polk? I also heard that Jim Valvano was going to take the job once, until the schools president told him he wasn't sure that the program would still be around in a year. I believe this was before the Eccker hiring.
  14. 13,500 for the Nebraska-Creighton game so that had to be a decent night for the NIT.
  15. They probably wouldn't bring their "A" game with them. Remember those comments after the last game.
  16. Thanks Roy for the summary. Carbondale was the place to be last night. Was the gym packed? Unfortunately Pinckneyville lost so won't get to see them play on Friday in Peoria.
  17. It's me again. Just checked the IHSA.org site. Lisch had 23. JB Jones had 29.
  18. My brother called me when the game was in overtime. It was simulcasted on ihsa.org. It was too late for me to listen as the game was almost over. My brother called me again when the game finished. He said Lisch hit a 3 pointer to tie the game with 14 seconds. West missed a couple of shots and then tipped it in. He said the announcer said "it was the greatest game". Certainly sounded like a good one. I am sure Roy will fill us in. I've seen Lisch play a couple of times. I hope he ends up in Billken blue like the rest of us do.
  19. How about a Creighton-SLU matchup in Omaha. Attendance has been good this year. Got my notice the other day to pick my ticket up for a March 16 game.
  20. Have you ever watched Hollins? Would he had been our answer?
  21. Agree with your comments on Morris. I watched him play a couple of times last year and he was a tough player with good point guard skills. I don't believe he would have started over Josh but definitely would have helped in the ball handling department. Unfortunately it didn't work out.
