  1. Schasz, then you have to admire Ronnie. I figure he has to be in his 70's. SLU fired him 25 years ago and he did't look young then.
  2. Buzz coached Appy State then went to Tulsa. He was at Tulsa just one year prior to going to Tennessess and I think he took them to the NIT Championship that year. One other thing, when they hired Romar I think Buzz's named was just mentioned but no interview. Stallings did get interview (he was at Ill State at the time) and made the statement about the facilities. A big fear with Stallings was he would return to Purdue when Keady retired.
  3. Didn't WC Fields say>> 1st prize is a one day vacation to Phildelphia and 2nd prize is a 2 day vacation to Philadelphia.
  4. Pat Kennedy leaves at the end of last season and they are already in the "Big Dance". Deja vu Depaul.
  5. The ESPN+ announcers said that Brad was up in Minn on a recruiting trip last night. I was just hoping and praying he is getting a committment on a 6'7" PF.
  6. If he going alone it seems he trying to 'seal the deal'. Alot of HS are in the middle of States. Or, maybe a JUCO?
  7. During the 1/2 they did the brackets and placed us with Memphis. If we can do the same as we did Wednesday night we will face Charlotte. A team we played tough aganist and a team that is already in. They may take us lightly.
  8. Caught the game on YES. I would just add the AD did an excellent defense job on Novak. With that nudge style of defense it really frustrated the all-CUSA performer. Also those key 3's in the beginning of the 2nd 1/2 kept them from being blown-out. Another was those key FT at the end by Polk. Nice job by a freshman. How long is it till October 15th................Can't wait.......
  9. Except for this year, I have been to every Bills-49ner game. Most of the attendances has been in 6500-7500 range but it does not look too bad with the Halton only holding 9100. Crowd is loud and they get pretty good student turnout. They do try to make every effort for you to attend with free program and parking, ticket prices are not bad as compared to other Div 1 schools and food is cheaper then Savis (that might not be saying much). Also everytime I went they always are giving something away. ie bobblehead, poster, you name it... Billiken Law is right about the traffic and growth. Very similiar to Atlanta. I think the 8-9 years I been attending they been working on I-85 going to Gastonia.
  10. Just seen the game on 644. If they only made 1/3 of those open looks at the basket this would have been a 'w'.
  11. I think it was the year after Hughes, around Christmas, I went to the Bills vs Kansas game. That game had about 22,500 in attendance. I believe I read in the paper the next day that this game was the biggest crowd for basketball in the Savis. BTW, earlier that same week I saw the Bills vs Charlotte. That game drew about 16,500. So we have a history for drawing large crowds. Also, I think they are hoping to have this as a revenue generator with maybe indoor soccer, arena football, concerts, circus, etc.. Therefore, I would recommend at least having a 12,000 capacity arena.
  12. I am listening to the game yahoo. You can get it by going over to the Charlotte basketball site and hitting the link for schedule.
  13. That's great news. I think my heart stopped when I read the report this morning. I feel with Roys updates we been following Kevin since he was in diapers. Looking forward on seeing him in Billiken Blue.
  14. I just noticed that Layer, the coach at CSU, is on that list of coaches on the 'hot seat'. Maybe we can get one of those athletic PF as a transfer.
  15. Now only seen Ian in person aganist So Miss inwhich he ate Jasper's lunch, the Iowa game and this game on TV and I am impressed with him. He has the potential to be something special for the Bills the next 2 years. He would really benefit (besides conditioning) if he went to that Big-Man's Camp out on the West Coast that Heinrich used to go. They could work on improving his inside moves. Regarding conditioning, I think he tired towards the end of the game that lead to those miss FT's. His Ft % is not all that bad for a big man (remember Heinrich and Brown). He needs to get used to getting 25-30 minutes.
  16. That dunk after a Polk miss at the 14 minute mark was great. What I can see from watching him, he can play.
  17. For those who have the Direct TV Sports Package the game this afternoon will be telvised on channel 640, CSNC. TarheelBilliken
  18. I just read in our local Biloxi paper that Jasper was just thrown off the So Miss team. Eustauchy (sp) was quoted "Johnson after a team meeting just could not get it". Apparently he did not care for Jasper's defensive intensity (seems we heard that before). BTW, seems Eustauchy is a real tough coach. He's thrown about 5 players off the team since the season started. For tonight's game (I believe it is aganist Tulane) he will only be dressing 8 players.
  19. It better be in Hattisburg because if is not I will be one upset Billiken fan!! LOL Since my job temporarily transferred me to Biloxi/Gulfport (no I am not in the gaming industry) it will be a short drive for me to Hattisburg tomorrow night. I have not been following them closely but I did see they had a ugly loss to Univ of N.O.last month. This maybe one we can steal a nice win.
  20. It's a different world down here. Especially when you get north of I-10.
  21. Larry (SLU72), I regret I won't be able to make the Charlotte game this year. It will be my first miss of that game since the series started. In September the job transferred me temporarily to the Biloxi/Gulfport, Mississippi Area. I will be at the Southern Miss game next Wednesday night. You all have a Great Time!! Tarheel
