  1. CentFLBilliken, I read about it on Bernie's Press Box website. It was all about the fact that the Fox Sports website had a huge headline after the first Rams game against the Giants...Martz is a Moron! I believe Tim made reference to it that Sunday night (Steve Savard who does both the sports for the CBS St. Louis station and is the radio voice for the Rams). Anyway Savard ate Tim a new arse on his Sunday sports show for bringing that up. Frankly, I'm really wondering if Fox wasn't on to something, especially since Martz played most of that Giants game with a QB who had suffered a concussion.
  2. I'm all for hearing about Matt Shaw making a commitment to SLU. He sounds like he would be a very nice addition to our recruiting class. Hopefully, things went extremely well with his visit to campus. Another good report on our current team. Seems like the consensus is the IO will be a key man along with Sloan and Reggie. It won't be long before the kids our practicing with Coach Soderberg and the rest of the staff.
  3. Once again since I live over a thousand miles from St. Louis, I appreciate these reports. It's reports like this that get me pumped up for this season. We may surprise some teams on our schedule.
  4. I'd put our chances of landing Master Tyler as very little from what I have read about this kid on this website and some others.
  5. Glad to see that you are settling into the college scene. They do take hurricane's very seriously. In the brief time that I have been here, the Tampa area braced for a couple of them. I even got off work the last time. I was glad that Isabel did not hit Florida.
  6. If we can add Liddell and Shaw then I believe we would have a nice recruiting class, and certainly something to build future recruiting classes. So far, I have been pretty impressed with Coach Soderberg's ability to analyze talent. He has a system, and I like the way he has gone about his business getting kids that can play in that system. I believe success for our program could be right around the corner.
  7. I graduated from SLU in '71, and if my memory is correct, we won our 10th and final NCAA championship during my four years at SLU. It's about time to make it No. 11.
  8. Bauman, Thanks a lot from this out of town fan for your report on the workouts. You've got me hungry for the real deal to get going, and it won't be long now...less than a month until regular practice starts.
  9. Thanks a lot for your thorough report on this meeting. Glad to hear that the arena is still on course to be built. It also sounds like SLU is being very proactive in the conference shuffling.
  10. TL sounds like the real deal and certainly a talent that we could certainly use. Here's hoping that he passes his entrance exam and commits to the Bills.
  11. OK so right now it looks like my only two chances of seeing the Bills on the tube here in FLA is Arizona and Marquette. I am going to look into a road trip to Atlanta to see the GA Tech game, so I will get an early look at the team. Too bad they won't be at a 100% roster for that game.
  12. I sure like the collectively part of that comment.
  13. It's only a verbal until the official signing period in Nov, and I think that Polk was a target by Coach Soderberg too.
  14. If this kid is the southpaw version of Scott Highmark then this Billiken fan will be very happy. Scott is a favorite of mine, as I felt he worked hard to improve his game from the time he arrived at SLU until he graduated and I remember him being able to drive to the hole for occasional baskets as his game matured in his Jr and Sr seasons.
  15. This kind of coincides with my belief that Fr. Biondi was not going to sit idly by while all this conference shifting was going on. Let's hope that it is just an initial step in getting SLU alligned with schools that are more to their total philosophy.
  16. Yea, and I am not ready to scrap the Rams chances after only one game...I don't really care one way or the other about the resident team in Tampa...too many egomaniacs on that bunch. It was OK that they won and I was somewhat happy for some of the friends I have made here.
  17. I'm all for playing out the season and seeing what our respective records are before crowning the Giants Super Bowl champs after one victory.
  18. More on the never ending saga of Snyder and Mizzou. I pretty much concur with this writer's takes. Seth Wickersham, a Missouri graduate, wrote an opinion piece on Mizzou basketball coach Quin Snyder in the latest ESPN the Magazine: "If Quin Snyder survives investigations by both the NCAA and his own university, he'd better learn well from these past few months. Snyder's honeymoon in Columbia is over. Many pro-Snyder boosters have turned. Many boosters who didn't like Snyder in the first place - those who would lobby Norm Stewart for the U.S. Senate - have become further disenchanted. There are reports that these investigations have caused friction between Snyder and his boss, athletic director Michael Alden. "Snyder is on thin ice. He has 17 "secondary" violations in four years at Missouri. When some of the violations have been made public, he's often pleaded ignorance ... after starring as a player at Duke, then as a rising assistant, and now with Missouri, Snyder has 14 years experience in college basketball. He should be expected to know the rules, especially after these two investigations. Ignorance is no longer an excuse for Quin Snyder."
  19. I don't see people on a fan board as viable sources for this rumor. Seems like much ado about nothing at the present time.
  20. Since we discussed his relative merits a few days ago...I thought this might be of interest. See Link http://cbs.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/story/6610570
  21. Sorry, but this SLU Alum does not root for ND in football. In fact, the only time that I attended a game in South Bend was when Mizzou beat the defending and Joe Montana led National Chumps 3-0, and I was rooting for Mizzou in football back in those days. I have a cool pix of me and my best friend on the field with that final score on the board. My football allegiance is with my wife's Alma Mater, the UT Vols and I enjoyed the recent beatings they put on the Golden Domers too.
  22. I think anyone that thinks the Gators would leave the SEC for a lesser conference has been smoking some of the chronic. Vandy is another matter as they have been the weakest link in all sports for years. As far as SLU is concerned...no one really knows and it really depends on Fr. Biondi's focus on the matter of conference realignment. Off the top of my head, he had real input into our most recent conference moves, so I am still not sure it is time to get real worried.
  23. Pros...all of the St. Louis teams. I lived 4 years in Seattle and the only team that I really rooted for were the Sonics. I moved here to the Tampa area in 2000 and I still have not learned to root for the Bucs even though I found out last season how cool it was to have the home team win the Super Bowl. College football...hands down it has to be my wife's alma mater the UT Vols. I did have season tickets for Mizzou when Uncle Al Onofrio was HC and kept them until I jumped off Woody's Wagon. Coolest game I ever saw Mizzou win was vs defending National Champs ND at South Bend and Mizzou won 3-0. College basketball has always been my alma mater SLU Bills. My 2nd favorite team is the Gonzaga Bull Dogs who I followed closely when I lived in Seattle. I sure hope that our Bills can get on a similar run that the Zags have had.
  24. My big fear regarding SLU settling with the MVC is what affects it would have on recruiting. On a smaller scale, I'd agree with the notion that on the surface, the bottom feeders in the MVC aren't as good as the lower tiered CUSA teams. All of this is pure speculation, because no one really knows how all this conference moving is really going to play out in the wash.
