  1. I think it's simple. We have always been a little light on having good athletes. If most of the teams you play are bigger stronger quicker you need to muck up the game. Hopefully as we get better athletes like willie the game will have a better flow. We didn't have anybody like upstates #32. So for us to win we need to slow it down, work for good shots, play hard defense, kill the clock,in other words play ugly.
  2. Rick said at the Tip-Off meeting that we were playing ND in Chicago. It must be like our game with DePaul, predetermined.
  3. Chris Lee from the Post is there almost every game.
  4. Valery Kodis[sp]. Use to work in the athletic dept.,now works for the Cardinals. Knows how to fill out a sweater.
  5. With all due respect I think Kevin's problem on the offensive end is that the ball is in his hand too much. Kevin is a shooter who needs to play into open space. He is much easier to guard with the ball in his hands. If I were coaching this team Tommie would be my backup point. I think he has become stronger with the ball since his sophmore year. What I really can't figure out is why everybody is blowing by Kevin on the defensive end. I actually hope he's hurt because maybe he'll get over that.
  6. Last night he played because everyone was in foul trouble. I'm not sure why Rubin didn't get more time,I thought he looked ok and didn't make any terrible mistakes. I know Rick likes him from last year but I don't see what PE is giving.
  7. Jale my question to you is Tommie encouraged or discouraged from attacking the basket? I agree that we are a better team when he takes it inside. Does Rick allow him to freelance? It appears to me we are running more pick and rolls which allows Tommie to break his man down. Does the game plan change from game to game? My question is it Rick or is it Tommie. As an aside to this I don't like Kevin as the backup point guard. When he has the ball in his hands to much he tries to penetrate and that is not his game.
  8. I have no problem with gimmick defense's,in fact I wish coaches would change looks more often. The difference here is Curry evidently just stood in the corner, and 2 Loyola players stood with him not playing defense. Also when you lose by 30 you change up.
  9. Loyola[MD] held Stephan Curry scoreless last night. The only problem is they lost by 30 points. Loyola coach Jimmy Patsos played a triangle and 2 the whole game. Curry just stood in the corner and Davidson played the whole game 4 on 3. Curry only shot the ball 3 times. Way to go coach Patsos you have your priorities right, you shut out Stephan Curry.
  10. I also don't want to get into one is better than the other[ilove them both},but yes I thought Tommie had a better game. I thought Kevin had a very mediocre game untill the last 5 min. when Skinner went away from his game plan and left Kevin wide open for a couple of 3's. Kevin was a non factor untill then. With about 10 min. to go Kevin had about 7 points. In my opinion that was not one of Kevins better games he just came up huge at the end thanks to Al Skinner and a couple of good feeds.
  11. We must have been watching a differnt game. I thought Tommie took it aggresively to the rim,he just couldn't finish. In fact Tommie has been very strong all year ,he just has not gotten his shot to fall. I thought he played great[yes roy better then kevin]. There is more to this game then who scores the most points.
  12. I hate to tell you this but those were the best refs the A-10 has to offer. The bald guy was Mike Kits and I think he did a final 4 game last year. Another guy whose name is Bob Donasomething does a lot of TV games and I'm sure was in the NCAA's last year. I also recognize the other guy which means he also is a TV guy.
  13. Gary Link,Missouri's color guy gave Miller credit for fouling when up by 3 with seconds to go. I can't believe there are coaches[including Rick} who don't foul in that situation. It's just so obvious to me that is the only to do.
  14. I know I'm an old fart but in my mind Oscar was the greatest to every play the game, and yes that includes MJ.
  15. An A-10 team is never going to get any calls at an ACC home game. I thought we were screwed we we went to North Carolina.
  16. David I agree with your impression but we really don't know anything. Since practice is closed it's all a quess on our part. My quess is that the rotation will be a work in progress. I know it's trite but I think Rick will play those who practice well, and we don't know who they are.
  17. I think what your suggesting would be a lot more likely if Rick believed in pressing. If you pressed you could be like that for a few min. If you don't press anything you gain on the offense is negated on defense. I don't think you'll see it unless somebody is hurt or a lot of foul trouble.
  18. Marty tried to give Rick a hard time about being unavailable to the local media. Rick challenged him saying he has given 9 talks/interviews in the last 2 weeks. He spoke of the event he did at the Chase and charity work in Wisconsin. Spoke highly of Kevin and Tommie. Loves our new building. Likes our freshmen but says they are freshmen. Rick wore a nice blue tee shirt with a Billiken on it. I thought he only did black for the slimming effect. Good interview.
  19. Hey ,like everybody else I liked what I saw, but lets remember it was Harris Stowe. Let's at least wait untill UMSL before we get too carried away.
  20. Was he the one doing the loud booing when Tommie was at the line? It looked to me like Tommie was fighting a big smile.
  21. I've been fighting with kshoe on this but I'm not sure a red shirt can play in this game. I thought they changed the rule a couple of years ago. Can anybody tell me that Dustin played in the ex. game last year?
