The reason we don't have more Fortune 500 companies has nothing to do with STL it has to do with corporate mergers and or bankruptcies. Busch, McDonnell Douglas and TWA were bought out. I'm not sure if Mercantile or Boatmans were 500 companies but there gone . Ralston Purina ,Pet Milk, and Mallincrodt are others that come to mind. The lack of flights out of Lambert sucks but has nothing to do with corporate mergers.

First, I would never defend Ballpark Vilage,It's a joke. Why the city has not held Dewitt to the fire is beyond me. I also spent the weekend in Cinnci and liked the city. I wasn't blown away with their immediate surrounding area. I thought they lacked areas like Shannon's,Padios,Bucks and Keener Plaza.Too many highways around the stadium. I do agree with Roy that Newport was cool. Just a little better then East St Louis. It's too bad Busch wasn't built on our river. Great American was a good stadium. Bad news was their beer cost the same as Busch. Second most expensive beer in baseball.

I think the athletic department did a good job of promotion. Radio adds,groupons,bill boards,you can only do so much. Winning will bring them in but to keep the record straight we always had pocket schedules. Old farts like me wishes we still did them.

I thought they got a single pledge of 20k for charters,but maybe the first pledge was for 10k. There was a 5k pledge,several two's a few grands,a couple of 500's and a lot of 100's.

I do know in the past assistant salaries were supplemented through running summer camps. They did most of the work and got most of the money. This doesn't seem to be a priority for Rick. Maybe they should re-think?
