Disagree. It SHOULD land us higher than that, but our name recognition would keep us at a 6 (5 at best). If Butler were in the exact same position with the same resume, they'd get a 3.

didnt a few years ago george washington have like one loss and still got an 8 or 9 seed? and how many times has gonzaga been hosed on seed. i dont know if it is "name recognition" or just BCS snobbery.

GW got an 8 seed in 2006 with a 27-3 record. They narrowly defeated SLU in OT that year when Danny Brown unexpectedly got hot. Rich is right they had an awful SOS and an RPI of 37 so they can not be considered snubbed. The consensus of bracketologists was 5 or 6 seed that year but I would say the committee had a decent case for an 8.

GW pretty much p!ssed away their case for a high seed when they lost their first game in the A-10 tourney. Going into that game, they were 26-1 with a 16-0 conference record and were ranked #6 in the AP Poll. A decent showing in the conference tourney would have helped allay any concerns the committee had about their weak SOS. However, they got trounced by a mediocre Temple team and it provided all of the ammunition the committee needed to slot them in an 8th seed.

St. Joes had one loss (in the A-10 tourney) and got a #1 seed. From wikipedia:

"Nelson became arguably the most publicized player in the country during his senior season in 2003–2004 as he led the Saint Joseph's Hawks to a 27–0 regular season record. The Hawks' first loss came in the Atlantic 10 Tournament to Xavier. Nelson and junior guard Delonte West formed what was largely considered the nation's best backcourt, helping the Hawks earn a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament."
