3Bill
Did anyone go and if so could you provide a summary of what happened?

kmbilliken
Chris May told who the coach was going to be next year, what conference we would be in and who the recruits are going to be, but said it was a secret and not to tell anybody. Everyone took an oath promising not to tell and pledging their alliegence to Father Biondi. If you weren't there, you'll just have to wait and see what happens. He didn't have much interesting to report although he has ADD and his comprehension skills aren't the best. He did say he thought Crews was a lot more personable and engaging than past meetings. The one thing he said that was funny is he asked May if attendance numbers are tickets sold or people in the seats at the game? May's response was, "the number is pretty accurate to what is reported." Haha. What the heck does that mean? May should be a politician. slu72
An AD IS a politician. I hope May is politicking like no-tomorrow for SLU right now. Amen to that! Yeah, with VCU on the brink of entering the race, SLU had better be pulling out all the big guns. I think this new conference is more interested in strength of program, ie NCAA's, attendance, facilities, coach, etc., than religious affiliations. Right now we pale in comparison to the other programs on all but the facilities factor.
slu72 fan
There were about 150 people at the meeting. Frankly, not too much Information, if any. Both Crews and Lisa Stone fielded questions. Most revolved around recruiting or the new conference. Both coaches are pleased with their kids and their effort. Both were very impressive and interesting. With the privacy required on recruiting and the new conference, they couldn't say much. Stone discussed the health issues on the team. They're down to six full-time healthy players and one that's unable to practice. A report was given of the six recruits who sogned letters of intent in November and she indicated that there may be one additional signee. I've been all her games, and her team has really improved. From my observations, the team is in terrific hands. There was no discussion about Carter or his status. Responding to a question about the most improved player on the team, Crews mentioned Manning, McCall and Barnett. He also discuss GG the high-energy he brings to the floor. All in all, Coach Crews was very interesting. He tells a good story. I think he'd be a real good next-door neighbor, My definition of a good guy. By the way, the women play VCU Saturday night at 7 o'clock atChaifetz. All season-ticket holders have free tickets to the women's games in their packages. If you haven't gone, give it a try. I think you'll enjoy it.

I believe media markets are the key.

I think you'll enjoy it. I would add a couple of things. May did say that the University is out there selling SLU to the C7. We are doing our part . Crews said recruiting is going well but when did a coach ever say recruiting was going poorly. Don't look for any local players next year but hopefully the year after. Knows we need bigs but there aren't many out there.Wants more playing time for Manning and Grandy. As stated above he was warm and friendly.
