3star_recruit
http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/arti...456/1004/SPORTS In a meeting that began as cordial but ended with a call to campus police, Indiana University freshman Eli Holman informed basketball coach Tom Crean on Thursday that he had decided to transfer. During their conversation, Holman became upset, IU police said. "His behavior took me, along with the other people in the office, by surprise,'' Crean said in a university release. "We saw him as a danger to himself and wanted to take precautionary measures to help him.'' IU Police Department Capt. Jerry Minger confirmed that his department was called to the Assembly Hall lobby at 3:40 p.m. Thursday and told Holman had thrown a potted plant. "It was first reported that he threw a potted plant, and later the secretary said he knocked it off as he was leaving," Minger said.
xfactor9600
Well with Holman gone yesterday, and Bassett, Thomas, and Ellis joining the departure list today, Crean has quite a few spaces to recruit next year.

davidnark
I thought Majerus was the only coach who ran off four players he didn't recruit.
Billiken Rich
I thought Majerus was the only coach who ran off four players he didn't recruit. Fortunately for Rick, Adam isn't the flower pot throwing type........
Marc Maggard
So I guess Matt Roth will play after all. With the line going back, Roth will get some play anywhere....amazing spot up shooter. mm

combes
I thought Majerus was the only coach who ran off four players he didn't recruit. Crean did not run them off. They ran themselves off. Not quite the same situation since these were players at IU who were getting major playing time but were struggling academically and breaking team rules off the court, as well. Holman punched a ref in high school, but IU fans were in the "boys will be boys" mode when Sampson recruited him. Ellis had known gang affiliation in high school and did not receive a single Big Ten offer out of high school even though he was one of the best three players in the state his senior year. DeAndre Thomas? Bassett? This is not a high character group. It was Dakich who did the dirty work with Bassett and Ellis and was roundly criticized by IU fans. However, now they are lauding Crean for not allowing them back. Unless I have missed something, the guys who were not renewed at SLU were good guys who just weren't good enough to play. Not exactly the same. imo
Box and Won
Looks like Holman is transferring to Detroit Mercy.

Billiken Law
But the Detroit Mercy coach did just run off two players (and so did GW) ... there are big differences in running a players off to open up more scholarships and kicking them off for major disciplinary reasons.
