OK, getting in late here…I’ve seen this question posed by at least 10 MBM’s, with no answer: WHY DID WE/COACH/YURI STOP RUNNING PLAYS FOR PERKINS IN THE LAST 10 MINUTES OF THE GAME? Perkins was on fire! Hot as a $2 pistol. And he was utterly/completely ignored while Yuri drove consistently into the heart and soul of the SIU-E line up. Does anyone have a technical or strategical position defending this strategy? I’m simply dumbfounded…without Perkins contribution we lose the game by double digits…

You had me believing - I was going to track down OG and give him some tips to pass on to Coach…..until the CAG returning to SLU part…hell freezes over before that happens.

Correct on all counts. Both teams played their hearts out. Better team won. And the constant nonsense that all Brazilians were cheering for France is just plain wrong!!

Crowd definitely impacted final result. #51 perfect all night at the line….until the last couple of minutes….crowd going berserk…and he misses both. Flipped the game.

We’ve really only had one true “D1 effective against P5 teams” big since I’ve been around. His issue was 100% mental/psychological. The is no way he should/could be with SLU now. CAG

I find OG kind of amazing….takes shot after shot after shot after shot…and keeps coming. The Randall Tex Cobb of this board…absolutely relentless….

You are correct about Maddison. LCFC folks ecstatic he was called up. I’m worried Southgate has come to realize Maddison’s talents…he can carve up a defense like no one else.

McMakin HAS to be better than 2-16 and fouling out. This has to be an anomaly. Maybe she was ill. Forget her Longwood stats. She was Player of the Year in Virginia Beach. This is from where Iverson, Vick and other such athletes hail. The high school level in that area is extremely high. There is just no way this game was a legit indication of her skill set…

This was the first women’s game i was able to watch this year. Two comments: 1) The SJU offset striker Daniels has very good pace and decent skills. If the word “pass” was in her vocabulary, we would have needed more than two goals to win the game. I would have been furious if I was her wing… 2) The improvement in Caroline K.’s game from the last time I watched her is massive. She is now a female version of Becher.

My understanding is the main reason Yuri returned is that he had a long heart to heart with SLU staff. Talked about how much SLU and St. Louis mean to Yuri, and about how much Yuri means to SLU, etc. Yuri is a true St. Louis kid. Secondary reason for retuning when he did is that he was aware of Ramey’s desire (and he saw what happened to Nesbitt when JN made the NBA play, wanted to return, and discovered Javon P had occupied his spot.) I don’t know what sort of NIL deal with Yuri was discussed (if any.). The concern is future recruits. Opposing coaches would go down the route: “hey, SLU might be a great place to play, with a good vibe and a cool staff; but they can’t get you any NIL funding….”

Ramey was 100% committed to SLU. He initiated the dialogue. Only one stipulation: He had to play the point. Yuri decided to return. Ramey said “adios.” This is not.a secret. SLU staff talks about it openly now. The larger concern is Yuri still does not have a lucrative NIL deal.

I agree, Seth’s pace and skill set work very well on the left wing. I liked the Ukrainian kid (Alex S.) on the right opposite Parker with Becher at the 9 last season - was my fave attacking line up. The fact Alex is slowly working his way back from injury bodes well for SLU.

SLU definitely gave as good as they got in the first half. Second half was a different story... #7 is one bright spot - kid is a baller!

The only real negative with losing the first two games is our chance of finishing in the Top 4 is pretty much wiped out. We play UW at home last year and we’re in the Cup…with even odds to win the whole thing…

I’m surprised VCU is that high…their “far and away” best player last year is now with St. Louis FC Next….and playing very well. They must have recruited at a decent level.

Larson is that rare player…every time she receives the ball one anticipates something positive is going to happen. Kind of like Parker was for the Men’s team last year. Fun to watch.

The ONLY loss that bothers me is Nesbitt. He was plain and simply electric. Fun to watch. Every time he got the ball. Period. I’ll miss him this season.
