  1. I was surprised by all the hang wringing and despair (at least by the Mets) around Craig Counsell's new contract with the Cubs considering what many college coaches are pulling down.
  2. While Jimerson and Parker might be the most likely to lead in scoring on any given night, we've already seen Hargrove (who currently leads the team in PPG) go off, and it wouldn't be surprising to see Hughes or Dalger have big games. I think it is (and will be) more evenly distributed - and harder for defenders - than just two guys that score.
  3. Great game. Jimerson w/20. Parker one board from a double-double. Hargrove outscoring ISU's starting forwards combined. Got the win. Beat the spread. Good to get a look at Zhang - although rough watching the foul-turnover-foul sequence before he got benched. Zhang getting yanked made me wonder why van Bussel didn't play. Hopefully guys stay health and some of our depth develops (van Bussel and Curcic), because the increased pace clearly tires our guys out along with the other side.
  4. Potential twofer preview game tonight with College of Charleston taking on Duquesne at the Veterans Classic in Annapolis on CBSSN.
  5. The head of the athletic department is Chris May.
  6. Feeling a little better about our rebounding after watching Hargrove, Dalger, and The Buss in the last two games. It might be bootstrapped, but we have some pieces to work with in the paint - even without Zhang or Magassa. Also, Meadows clearly has a nose for the ball.
  7. Agreed. Curcic showing some positives - energy, athleticism, passing - in his first opportunity.
  8. Not that he couldn't develop further, but the path to a Linssen-level game appears to be there.
  9. That Hughes at the end of the bench with the ice pack on his right knee?
  10. Anyone know why LH II isn't in the second half rotation?
  11. Looking for another player to make an early season statement tonight the way TJ did on Monday. Parker, Hughes, and Dalger are prime candidates.
  12. Fordham did manage a whopping 1,437 attendees for their home opener (which they nearly also lost). Unfortunately, when it comes to drawing fans generally, Fordham is a fraction of DePaul's already tepid numbers, averaging 1,135 fans per home game last year compared to DePaul's 4,045.
  13. Kind of impressive USI lured UConn and Houston transfers. Even if they did ride the bench.
  14. Or if he needs more time to be game ready in terms of health/recovery, maybe keep him on his rehab program until we play Wyoming.
  15. When you said you thought SLU had chosen "to live in the 75-150 range as a team" I thought you meant longer term than just the upcoming season. I haven't seen this team play yet, but we're certainly not projected to be top 75.
  16. On average over the last three seasons we've been ranked better than 75th. At least in NET and KenPom.
  17. From the post: "LSU has submitted additional information to the NCAA for reconsideration of the decision." Hadn't even considered how long it will take schools to hear back on an appeal of a decision when the initial reviews are already so backlogged.
  18. In that case, if we just move games into the West Pine gym we'll really be succeeding.
  19. Free ticket giveaways are part building connections and participation with students/alumni/and locals. I'd think it's a pretty standard practice by most A10 schools . Maybe somewhat less-so Dayton and VCU, but they probably give away and/or donate tickets in some instances.
  20. Pretty big. It can take a long time - decades? - to build the kind of support SLU gets. SLU's attendance outperforms schools in bigger metros (Loyola, Fordham, LaSalle, St. Joseph, GW, George Mason), schools with bigger enrollments (UMass, URI, GW, GMU, Fordham, Loyola), schools with more recent NCAA appearances (Loyola, Davidson, Bonnies), or schools with recent exceptional performance and feelgood national media attention (Loyola). It's a testament to all of us - the fans, but also the team/school for building those connections with alumni and the local community.
  21. SLU is perennially among the top teams in the A10 for attendance. Although Dayton definitely has the top spot locked up.
