  1. I’m courtside now… boys are playing well.
  2. Fire Ford now…today. If not, fire Ford and May tomorrow. This is beyond awful.
  3. We lost a tournament bid tonight.
  4. Reggie is very athletic...fun to watch when he gets aggressive. Good big man that is hard to stop (when he is playing well)!
  5. Nah...any good AD knows who is on the chopping block or potentially willing to make a move, thus potentially available...so conversations start early. Question is whether May will act now or not. Also, firing Crews now sends a message. Does May want so show that SLU continues to support this current path, or that we'll get rid of the coach, sacrifice this season, and focus on the future?
  6. Agree with WestCoastBilliken. Majerus was a big name hire (with a bit of luck). Get rid of Crews now and start early for next year. We wait to fire him until end of season, we are left with scraps.
  7. I can't believe I paid for a plane ticket to come watch these guys play next month. I'm going to be the only one in the stadium.
  8. Some coaches are best as head coaches, some as assistants. JC needs to prove himself. He did a great job taking MJ's team forward, but it's time for him to show his worth. HIs record at Evansville and Army are nothing to brag about....even if those teams have haven't faired well since his departure (we shouldn't compare ourselves to Army or Evansville). We've been willing to pay for excellence the past few years (MJ's salary, new on-campus stadium, etc), can't settle for mediocracy. Rebuilding is one thing, losing to Rhode Island at home, UT-El Paso, and by 30+ to Davidson is another issue. Recruiting won't get any easier next year, JC should have no more than 2 more seasons to make it work.
  9. Living in NC, this was my first time watching SLU play in person this year. The only saving grace was that Davidson fans were kind to us SLU fans, at least the 20 or so of us that were there. Davidson executed every play just about perfectly. Every screen, 'back-door' pass, etc...we were just outplayed. They were very quick...seems like our guys were always a step behind. And we were flat. No excitement, no chemistry...almost like they were bored. We couldn't get open for a decent shot, especially in the paint, and our shooting % shows that. Not sure what happened with free throws. Rebuilding, yes...but we have some major fundamental issues. Davidson is a solid team with a good coach, however we never should have lost by this much.
  10. This is horrible. We should not be this bad coming off the past 3 years….if we had decent recruiting. These kids will develop and get better, but it won't be like anything we've seen lately. Time to spend the big bucks again and get a good recruiting coach.
  11. What's up with that? Our full court press looked more like VCU HAVOC. Will this be added to our arsenal? Little Friday 'What up with that?' humor.. http://screen.yahoo.com/al-gore-000000893.html
  12. Brilliant coaching by Crews at the stretch. Some big plays by Manning and Lancona early on, clutch shots by Loe/McCall/Evans, all around good showing of senior experience and a capable bench. My confidence is back!
  13. He did a fantastic job tonight. Clutch 3 point shot that was the key to getting back in it. Nice job, Barnett!!!
  14. One of the best NCAA tournament comebacks….I think JC did just fine, baby!
  15. Amazing…that's the Billiken team we love! Shove it up your a**, Coach K!
  16. Yeah, disagree with your Soderberg comment. Not sure why you think this NC State team is going to be a push over. They are more capable of beating us than Duquesne or the Bonnies. If they can beat Syracuse, they can beat us. I do like your confidence....and hope you are right.
  17. I think we match up well against NC State, but it won't be an easy game. Bobby Lutz (formed UNC-Charlotte head coach, coached vs. SLU for 10+ years) is an assistant at NC State. I'm not sure how much that will help them prepare, however he is very familiar with SLU...even Majerus/Crews style of defense. Warren will be tough, but our defense can handle it. We just need to right SLU team to show up tomorrow!
  18. Great article on Shaka Smart defending the A-10 against critics. His response regarding Coach K is spot on. To boot, one of the Facebook comments summed up the A-10 vs. the ACC this year in non-conference play. Can't argue with the data! Tom Eggemeier: ''Have Duke play some home and home series with the A-10. Duke played zero out-of-conference games on the road this year, yes you read that right zero. Their 1st road game was January 14th at ND in conference. The A-10 played all of their games versus the ACC on neutral courts or on the road (kenpom has some good articles about how tough that is). The 6 A-10 qualifiers went 8-2 versus the ACC with all the games neutral or at ACC courts. The way to go knock out A-10 teams from the tourney (and to add more ACC teams) is to beat the A-10 on their home courts in OOC play. The ball is in your court Duke, put up and go on the road to Dayton, VCU, St. Louis, St. Joe's, UMASS, or stop campaigning. 19. At the end of the day, JC has done a great job coaching this team of RM's recruits. No one can argue that. It's been a great couple of years. The real test for JC is going to be what happens in the next 2-3 years. If he is not able to recruit given our recent momentum (stlhoops makes a good point), then it's time to question his coaching. This national recognition we've received should help us get more 3-4 star recruits (yeah, we need Tatum's son in 2015). We also have some high caliber, young assistant coaches in Cheaney and Bronson, which should help. I can't help but put more of the blame on the recent poor play on the seniors. They are some of the most experienced players in the NCAA and have lost 4 of 5…that should not happen with this team. I can only hope that losing to the Bonnie's helps wake them up. They are capable of going deep in the tournament. No one is going to want to play us.
  20. Nicely stated. Win out, pick up momentum, and go deep in the tourney. This class deserves to leave on a good note...and they have the ability to do it.
  21. I would have been happy finishing out 3-1 (loss to either VCU or UMASS), but this is ridiculous. This type of loss, in front of 10k+ at home, is not only going to hurt our seed, but also recruiting. Not to mention the fact that we've finally got great crowds coming to the games. Time to step it up, boys....better go 3-0 and try to forget this one.
