  1. A direct link would be nice. I did post the one below elsewhere on this forum; probably not the one "Baskebill" means. http://www.bannerson...score-breakdown
  2. Two good ideas out of three ain't bad As I recall, ND could be in the Big 10 today except they want to control their own destiny in football. The point is we want a league with top-rank basketball aspirations, no desire or need for BCS football, and media markets that justify better TV coverage. We want Chicago and Indy exposure! If SLU joined the MVC, I'd be worse off than I am now for TV.
  3. Ditto that request for info. Everybody wants to know what the great "half-time adjuster" adjusted this time to turn the game around. Shorten the rotation, spread the offense, open up the lane and feed BC? Maybe its not what you say, but how you say it, and RM can be too colorful for broadcast.
  4. Disagree with the OP as stated. Players do not leave the locker room until the coach releases them. The best you can say for Mack is that he committed the management mistake of not knowing he had a serious problem. ("We shipped a few lots of contaminated peas? Darn. Well, pull them off the shelves, have legal deal with it, and try and keep this out of the press. Now lets get back to business.") Mack (who clearly has a short fuse himself) didn't see this as a PR disaster and let the press conference proceed as usual. Cronin, on the other hand, knew what had to be done and did it. On the other hand, I do think that Bobinski is responsible for Mack, and his failure was not stepping in when Mack shrugged it off. Its now up to Fr. Graham to decide how to deal with it - if he wants to.
  5. Enjoy this: http://www.bannerson...score-breakdown
  6. Comcast in many areas outside Chicago 531 (963 HD); comes with upgraded digital package.
  7. Someone tell me about the Hotel Ignacio development and its relationship with the Triumph Grill & neighbors in the "blue light" district. Because of SLU, despite SLU, or indifferent to SLU?
  8. Its not good form for us to pick on individual players when it was a team failure to do routine business. The head coach is paid to take the heat in these situations, and have that "someone" on the floor to take charge the next time this happens (as it will).
  9. Yes, and the OP is to help us get Majerus re-focused. I suppose. Or: These two teams never played before, and will never play again. We played them once and lost. That's 0%, right? +10 (Copied from another thread; couldn't resist it) Both URI and SLU deserve what they get from their fans for their game yesterday.
  10. I'll just repeat what I said when we were accused of having a "mediocre" offense. Now I"m going out to dinner, a concert, and some medicinal alcohol.
  11. Biondi made his decision to bump Billiken basketball when he built Chaifetz and cleared out the AD naysayers to hire RM and go for it big time. He has no more interest in scaling back to regional, mid-major BB than he does in moving from "National University" to regional. Both would make us a bigger fish in a smaller pool, but that has never been SLU's ambition. We aspire to be a top-50 school academically and in BB. To do that, we have to join or create a league of schools who have decided to forego football BUT are willing to spend $$$ on BB at BCS levels in media markets that support national TV exposure.
  12. No, that was the math department. Reinert & McGannon kept the Jesuit master plan for St. Louis locked in the Verhaegen exorcist suite. Bonwich, I moved away, but didn't the notion to deprecate the midtown campuses occur in the lacuna between Reinert & Biondi?
  13. Sounds like the AD could sell it out at any time, is holding back enough to accommodate "pre-paid" students and last-minute requests from important alums and season-ticket holders. Ah, hard-to-get tickets. That's the problem with an undersized arena, that's the problem we all want to have forever with Billiken basketball. Lombardi was always right: winning isn't the main thing, its the only thing that really matters in athletics.
  14. I'm not local, so it doesn't matter to me, but I'm glad RM doesn't have his own show, nor favor any one host. Those are usually the sign of "sweeteners" to salary (like the exclusive weekly, worthless TV shows arranged for BCS coaches). RM enjoys being a bachelor, playing the field, cheap lunch dates at Adriranna's, perhaps ice cream at the Fountain. He is wise to avoid going steady with any sports reporter.
  15. PB's definition: mediocre [mee-dee-oh-ker] (adj): enough to get by on. RM philosophy: rebounds, FTs, 3 pointers, yeah, we need all of those, we'll work on them, but "D" isn't the main thing, its the ONLY thing you really need for a win, with just enough offense to get by on. Trouble is, on those inevitable days when the "D" breaks down, a mediocre "O" can't take up the slack. Temple, anyone?
  16. Wait for GDT link, but I'm sure it will be available on http://www.firstrowsports.kw,
  17. Since NCAA picks up travel costs, this is a good example of market forces driving a win-win situation for producers and consumers.

  19. Where features can be tested without being accidentally posted to the main board.
  20. Weber came to Illinois when he lost patience waiting for his old mentor Gene Keady to retire and open up the job at Purdue. He says now that he has not recruited wisely in recent years. I agree with KMBilliken - he'll get another HC job. I don't want to see him on the bench at SLU.
  21. I work with three machines and use both firefox & chrome. I depend on "next unread topic" and "first unread post" to keep me synchronized and seldom see any issues. Thanks for all you do to keep us running!
  22. -1. Wiz slips by calling his rankings a poll.
  23. And they can do that profitably because they already have an established viewer and sponsor base built on the reputation both teams have earned. When we have popular (i.e. winning) teams, people will want to watch them play. I think some on this board are suggesting that SLU subsidize local stations to televise games, but that sets a bad precedent IMHO.
  24. Damn straight, and freshly showered. The A-10 championship game is on "real" CBS before the selection show.
  25. Not to worry. Porter will have Loyola-Chicago in the top 25 well before the Catholic League forms up.
