It's fascinating how St. Louis University's perspective on the Missouri Valley Conference has changed.  Now, they are banking on a Missouri Valley coach and Missouri Valley players to get them into the NCAA Tournament next year.  I recall when SLU considered the Missouri Valley sub-par and rejected the idea of joining the conference.  The irony isn't lost on me.

Interesting first post. You must be new around here.

This is a solid take. I will add Pizzeria da Gloria on the Hill. And I am trying Motor Town Pizza this weekend. I might be in the minority, but also like the double crust pizza at JJ Twigs. But let's be honest, pizza is like sex, when it's good it’s great and when it's bad it is still really good.

Shhhh don’t tell them about the places you can get both, tho. :)

  3. Ain’t none of y’all have even mentioned Cecil Whittakers. The pride of SoCo. Back in the day, we got em sent to DeMatt after whatever Greek outing happened to be that night by the dozen. We had a pledge back in 01 who would take an XL, fold it over and eat it like a calzone. Man earned my respect that night. And an XL on college nights or college hours whatever it was cost $3.75. Worth every penny.

High speed train lines have been announced in California, and never went anywhere despite the expenditure of vast amounts of money. I would not hold my breath waiting for this NYC Dallas line to open.

Exactly. I can fly one way from DFW to PHL tomorrow on a wide body Boeing 787 tomorrow for $186 and be there in time for my morning constitution right next to independence hall.

Dear lord, it does not pay to be any level of inebriated in this conversation. I am, though, genuinely surprised at Pete's hostility towards Mason as I've never seen them as a serious rival/program.

I think a Billikens.com after dark segment would be great. BJCH would be my leadoff hitter.

Nice. I was too young for that. Screaming Trees was never able to translate their live shows to recordings. If they had they would have been the most popular band of the era. Better live sound than any Seattle band. RIP Mark Lanegan.

Love that - was fortunate enough to see both Soundgarden and Pearl Jam in the 90s, but I would have killed to have seen the Trees. Mother Love Bone and Temple of the Dog would have also been fantastic, but I guess I saw Cornell, Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament and Matt Cameron with their primary bands. We won’t see another era like the grunge alt+rock era of the 90s ever again. Even in the Midwest, acts like Macomb’s Stabbing Westward and Detroit’s Sponge were hugely successful. Loved the band Stir from STL and Brother Cane out of Birmingham.

  7. Rally in the 9th killed with two on and our 2B sticks his elbow out for what appears to be a HBP- ump calls a third strike. Ballgame. Fordham wins 8-4. An unacceptable Saturday loss. Weber looked lost out there on the mound.

There’s a palm reader advertised right outside my neighborhood- past the east side into O’Fallon- haven’t visited- I envision Whoopi Goldberg from ghost.

You’re also thinking about Miss Cleo…

The reputation that Vianney, coached by Luke Walsh's dad, had was not good. Vianney was kind of like the Cobra Kai of local Catholic schools. I'm not sure how much of that is on Luke Walsh. I just don't think he's an A-10 level player.  For some reason he's rated higher than Zyree on 247 Sports and I imagine that comes from people not knowing much about their comparative abilities. My scouting eye is nothing great so take it with a grain of salt.

When I was a Phi Kap pledge my freshman year, one fun tidbit of information I had to learn about the senior class was one of them was the 4th all time leading rusher at Vianney. Aside from the guys who played for Tony Severino at Rockhurst, the Vianney football alums really held on to the glory days more than anyone I encountered at SLU.

Nice.  Fordham isn't very good but they do seem to play better at home.   They took 2 of 3 from Richmond and also just won a series at UMass.   We need to win this series to stay in first place overall.

My in-laws are just up 95 in Mamaroneck, NY. Home of Winged Foot. Wife has an appointment in the city Friday morning, so we’ll run down there and stop off at Fordham on the way back. Damn the Ram!
