  1. That says as much about the rest of the team as it does about RL. In last year's Georgia game we lose by 30 if not for FJ.
  2. Until JJ gets a semblance of a clue on defense. CS will and should play.
  3. Agreed. I'd rather have the guys redshirt and have a chance at a great team in 10-11 and 11-12 rather than take a chance at MAYBE getting hot enough in the spring.
  4. Please keep in mind that even if both players come back it will be with only about 13 games left, after the first Dayton and Temple games. I hate to say it, but it's not improbable that the Bills could be something like 7-8 at that point. There may end up being no reasonable option but for them both to red-shirt.
  5. My favorite part of the interview was when MM asked if they felt vindicated, and WR Sr clearly had no idea what that word meant.
  6. I wonder where one could find that pic.
  7. As long as CE and JJ keep getting beaten off the dribble consistently, CS will play. Get used to that.
  8. To be fair, RM only made one mention of CR missing the other guys. He spent much more time saying that CR had taken some hard classes and was struggling in school this semester. Hopefully this will mean CR can adjust and have a clearer head come conference play.
  9. One of those charters is for the Duke game.
  10. Pretty decent crowd at the Billiken Club meeting tonight. The meeting went till about 8:15 with RM taking up about 2/3rds of that time. Service at Loranzini's is still, well awful. They're working on it. Chris May: -8 games on local TV this year. 6 KPLR, 2 FSN. He seemed ok with that number but I remember last year they were shooting for a bit more this year. It looks like until this program rises in stature, we will be set at around 15 gms per year broadcast somewhere. -Season ticket sales are actually up slightly this year. -Had some good words to say on the baseball team. 4 pitchers hitting 88mph on the gun apparently. -Introduced a new AD member, corporate sales rep. Shimmy Gray-Miller: -Brought Lauren Woods & Kat Hester with her. -Explained/defended the surprisingly close UMSL game. -Repeated that her best scorer in Europe baking cookies. -Had her usually optimism though I felt she came off a bit defensive. She explained they were 3-4 close games from being an NIT team last season. RM: -Brought up 4 girls who head up the Relay For Life effort at SLU. They've been very successful thus far. They are taking donations and selling a nice shirt -Made a few comments and then took questions the rest of the time. -Should sign the big from out east soon. Holding one other scholly for now. -Has another good prospect in Australia, needs to get back over there. -RL better (potentially) than both CE and CS. -Repeated the "brothers" line. -RL won't shoot well (in RM's standard) this year but will be good shooter. -Repeated that JB will be all-league. Mix of Lisch and Meyer. -JJ has not yet decided to play D. -As a result, starting lineup for Friday (and I expect until further notice) MM,KC,CE,BC,RL. -CS will come in for CE when better D is needed. -CS doesn't have that 'feel' for the game that some players have. -CE trying hard and will be fine, but is a player without a position. Not quite quick enough for 3, not quite hard enough for 4. Still averse to contact/soft/out-of-shape. Bit too much of a socialite. He's working on it. Compared him to Liddell in the effort department. -DE is not quite a good enough outside shooter to play 3, but a bit small to play 4. Also a man without a position. -CR having tough time. Physically he is still growing and dealing with some pain. Mentally he is in a bit over his head with some classes and needs to adjust major. Emotionally he misses KM and WR. He will get through it but things are difficult right now for him. -Talked to KM Monday. Still trending towards him coming back. Thinking of having Andre Miller talk to him since he was forced to miss a year himself. Stress of this situation has exacerbated KM's mom's cancer. Sounds like even if KM comes back and plays, he will miss some conference games. Mentioned the Fordham game on 1/19 but I missed some of that. -Has had some contact with WR. Said Willie is pretty bitter about the whole thing. -Walk-ons are great kids, not so much great players. -DY apparently couldn't afford to stay. -PE and CS both possibly injured in practice. PE may be severe. CS sounded minor. -Georgetown left SLU at the alter last year. RM is done with them. -Mentioned that Teresa Lisch was better than some of his guys and her husband.
  11. FSMW is also picking up 2.
  12. I'm hearing that at least 6 games will be on KPLR including Friday's contest.
  13. While I do donate to the Billiken Club, I have no-gift-required seats and still got the nice tickets. So I don't think it is that.
  14. A coach can always get rid of a player. The question is can the university then get rid of that student.
  15. Also seen during the broadcast. "Hey Blaine, Chuck Norris wants his arm back."
  16. Agreed. Rick sounded pretty negative this time last year too. I think he might like to under-promise and over-deliver. The players sound anything but pessimistic.
  17. Yes DE's sister goes to Wash U. Family is very serious about education. I wonder how much offense DE can give us at least at first. The one game I saw him in he didn't have much of a shot. But his team also didn't feature him at all on offense. That being said he looked like he could be a real rebounding and defensive specialist. In situations where defense is key, I can see DE coming in to play the 3.
  18. I honestly thought that CR was a better shot blocker than WR by the end of last year. I do think he needs to move his feet better, just be quicker. Its the rebounding that worries me.
  19. Maybe we can at least get KSU on the schedule out of this.
  20. Billikan, I know from personal experience that tenured faculty do indeed tend to have a unique, and I'll say off-kilter, worldview. I also know from experience (though not a SLU experience) that some faculty would love nothing more than to stick it to an athletic department whenever they can. However, acknowledging this fact does not by itself preclude the possibility of conscious or subconscious racist feelings of the "student court" coming in to play on this issue. I'm not saying it did. In my opinion, the university in either case has a great deal to prove to the student body, alumni, community etc about its place on the spectrum of fairness, race, and equality. I've managed to remain positive about the basketball team, and school as a whole for a long time. Even as the school has constantly been attacked by Catholic-haters, atheists, urbanists, liberals, and Mizzou grads. I still am proud of the university despite feeling like I constantly have to defend it. But frankly, a lot of what we know to be factual along with a fair about of this hearsay has left me feeling fairly ashamed of the university today. The institution has allowed itself, though poor handling of this situation in all aspects to look really bad. In doing so, they do kind of make all of their graduates and students look bad by association. I just haven't decided how to best voice my displeasure with administration yet. The point is: Whether race had any factor to do with this or not, the university better be ready to accept that that is how it will be perceived by many. And the university better be prepared to mend some fences and earn some trust back from the community. Otherwise the consequences of this issue will be felt by more then just the basketball team for years to come.
  21. I personally think the biggest challenge his absence will cause is rebounding and not offense or blocking. Thoughts?
  22. Just flash

  24. BIG +1
  25. i don't think WR fits CMA's system at all.
