  1. From what I saw in the allstar game he will be an immediate upgrade over BH. He will not step in and be a force, but he will be better than what we had. By big man standards he looked coordinated, could handle the ball well enough and showed a nice looking hook that didn't go in but had good form as I recall. If RM is a true developer of big men, he should be able to develope this guy into a good 5.
  2. Are these 08 or 09 recruits?
  3. Klotz looked like she could play. Is she transferring? Is Elam transferring too? The Lischs have had great careers here, but its too bad we couldn't bring in better supporting front courts to take some pressure off them. Then again, I think they love having the pressure.
  4. The kid should go where he wants to go. The decision effects him far more than anyone else. In the fall we signed the best recruiting class we've had in years. Spring signing period usually has slim pickings and we picked up two more good players. Things are looking up with or without him. He sounds like a good prospect, but not the next coming. Maybe things will workout for him there, but he'll have to show more to earn minutes there. If he thinks he's up to it and welcomes the challenge, good for him. Apparantly the chance to get more national exposure was more appealing to him than the chance to be a hometown hero. If I were his parent I'd say I'd love for you to stick around so I can see you play every game, but if thats what you want go for it.
  5. If SWIC wants to sell itself to recruits would they rather say we sent a kid to SLU this year or Kentucky? I think they'll always push for the biggest name.
  6. I agree. Cassity didn't look out of place out there. He looked like he had the skills to play, but it was anything but a team game.
  7. Neither KM nor WR were there. Neither was Kramer Soderberg. It was a good showcase of talent. Thompson will be an immediate upgrade over BH. Cotto has big time range on the 3, but will have trouble defending(although he seemed to be hurting and that may have effected his quickness) Femi John looks like he can play, but definately needs to work on his shot. It was hard to get a read on Kyle Cassity because these games are for flash and that doesn't seem to be his game, be he definately didn't look out of place out there and there was a lot of talent on the floor. The only question I have from the night is why weren't we interested in Torres Roundtree? He's a go to guy in the making.
  8. I was at the riverwar game tonight and the sound system was terrible. I couldn't understand half of what they were saying. It wasn't a matter of decibles. It just wasn't clear. They better fix that. Does anyone else think the press tables are too close to the court? They need to be moved back at least a foot.
  9. I'm glad things worked out for him. I think he would be a good fit at Western Illinois. I wonder why he isn't interested in that job. I know it would be considered a step down the coaching ladder, but I doubt if he's going to get any head coaching offers that would be considered a lateral move. His stay at SLU was treading water and no one wants to hire a head coach to preserve the stats quo.
  10. What game were they playing in last night?
  11. Kevin is very athletic. There's a lot more to athleticism than jumping. He's strong, has quick hands, decent jumping ability, good speed and great body control. TL is very athletic too, but the only thing I see he has on KL is a quicker first step, faster hands with the ball that don't seem to come into play on defense and a longer body. You give KL TL's length and he'd probably be the best player in the conference.
  12. Thr unfairness of that compared tp the Harrelson situation is striking. Why should the NCAA allow the school to screw Harrelson out of two years of eligibility because WIU holds a grudge. I can see saying he has to sit for a year before becoming eligible otherwise recruiting a kid would never stop, but he should still get all 4 years of eligibility.
  13. Neither have ever been all conference. Last year TL was second team and KL was honorable mention. The only all conference A10 player we've had is IV.
  14. Which two of our players have been named all conference?
  15. Allen has amazing stats. Not many people shoot over 50% from 3pt land and he's taken a lot of shots. He should be a top priority, but I bet he'll have a lot of big time offers with that kind of play.
  16. Today's article in the Kansas City Times makes it sound like the test scores are an issue too.
  17. RM doesn't have his first recruiting class here yet. He's got to be given a chance to win with his players. Brad didn't get canned because he couldn't coach. He got canned because he couldn't recruit and RM will have to live with the effects of that for a couple of years.
  18. I only saw Mitchell play one game in high school, but remember thinking I hope this isn't the kid we're recruiting. It was against Alton and he had a bad offensive game. You could see he could be a good defensive player, but he had a bad looking shot and missed his free throws. I'm sure he was a better player than what I saw that game because he had great rebounding stats and had some good scoring games, but I didn't think he would be able to play for us unless Brad's recruiting woes continued. It would be interesting to see what RM could do with him in 4 years, but I think that's an experiment that's not going to happen.
  19. He's talking about signing 2 or 3 more so Maguire has got to be out. He can always put Eckerle back on academic scholarship to free up another one. If he brings in 3, by way of minutes played you would think Mitchell would be next in line for the door. I think AK and MR both can develope into solid contributors.
  20. I agree he would be a better player if he could play 4 instead of 5. I think he will be a much better player next yeat when he will be strictly a 4. JUCOs seem to improve a lot their second year.
  21. Is Cotto as good offensively as Kevin was in high school?
  22. When did Vienna play Vashon? I know he had 30 pts in his last game, but that was in the Illinois tournament.
  23. What ever new coach comes in, he's going to be top notch and will need players. The first thing on his agenda will be to keep the players already there and signed to come there. I don't think the chances of Roth going elsewhere are very high.
  24. The second paragragh was referring to AK. I thought he did the best job defending Dunston and deserved more minutes, but I quess his turnover and missed lay ups got him yanked. Bryce is what he is. He's not athletic. He has improved hands, but still could not that good. He has limited moves. However, he is rebounding, altering shots and giving us some scoring. He's giving us more than I ever expected and is an important contributor on this team.
  25. Bryce made his layups. He missed his jumpers and one hook. I thought it was a decent effort. He put up enough to justufy his playing time. I agree with the poster who said AK did the best job on Dunstan tonight. He was quick enough to get out and quard the three and did a good job on him in the paint. I thought he deserved more minutes, but I quess his turnovers and missed layups got him yanked.
