  1. Talked to The Dude about this this morning and he says its too late. If he had been able to be there that night she would have sent a thank you note.
  2. No way they found these guys guilty of sexual assault. If they do that they have to expel them. If they find them guilty of sexual assault and let them come back to school and one of them does it again they'll be on the hook to victim #2. They can't take that chance.
  3. Thats what I think is going on here. If they concluded a sexual assault occurred they'd have to expel them. I think they are giving them a year for drinking because they think something more may have happened but don't have the facts to find anything beyond alcohol violations. So they're coming down hard on them.
  4. If the appeal is handled by the Vice-president of Student Affairs I don't see this being overturned. He's in a very bad position. If he overturns this, he'll be accused of giving special treatment to athletes and trying to protect the school's big investment in their basketball program. He'd take some real heat. The interesting thing is both students are being given the same punishment which should mean they were found to be equally culpable. Obviously there is no finding there was a sexual assault, otherwise both would be expelled. Is there a rule against having consensual sex on campus? If not, this must be just an alcohol violation? If so, thats awfully tough punishment for an alcohol violation. Could this be RM's own version of the Craig Upchurch fiasco?
  5. I don't think this board has ever underrated anybody.
  6. Doesn't sound like a buy game to me. They have a better recent history than us. If we're going to be good we have to go to tough places to play and win.
  7. Sounds like all the successful careers were had at SLU with the exception of Jimmy McKinney.
  8. Wouldn't those exceptions be AB and Anthony Jones? Did any of his players have a good career at someplace other than SLU? The only bomb I remember coming to SLU from Vashon was The Big Chill. He was perhaps the most talented and had a couple of decent years until he decided he had to go "big time" and was never heard from again. Floyd did him a big disservice by jumping back in as his advisor and not telling him to stay at SLU. I thought he had NBA potential if he would have worked at it. Grawer seemed like the perfect coach for him, demanding but would look out for his best interests.
  9. No way. This is only rankings for one position. There's no way the top 50 high school players are expected to be in the NBA in the very near future by anyone other than themselves and their entourage.
  10. This top 50 at the shooting guard position, not top 50 overall.
  11. Student tickets shouldn't be more than $5 per game. Get the students coming to the games. Many will become fans for life.
  12. The ultimate spoon recruit had to be Sekue Barantine. He didn't even start on his juco team and had terrible numbers. Spoon gave him a scholarship because he was desperate for a center and the juco center he thought he was going to get backed out of his verbal. Even in that situation, to only come up with a juco backup is pretty pathetic.
  13. Will he ever stop forcing it out?
  14. I recall the game at the old Kiel. It was Grawer's 1st or 2nd year as I recall. Before Gray and Douglas and I don't think it was close. We were very short on talent.
  15. I'm sure Coach Ekker would agree with you.
  16. Some players are going to improve and step up, others won't and will lose minutes. Its just nice to have quality and depth to provide competition for minutes rather than hoping to have 8 guys who can legitimately contribute. RM has brought in 4 more players this year who, if we had brought in any one of under prior regimes, we would have been looking to build our team around. Now, with all returning starters, none of them are guaranteed to crack the starting lineup. RM has earned his money.
  17. My question is will the MVC schools play us in home and home series? If so, since the BCS schools won't schedule us now why not schedule more of them and play less buy games. I don't think we should have more than 3 buy games. I realize we might have a couple fewer home games, but who cares if you're just eliminating buy games. If the revenue is vital, raise the ticket prices a couple of bucks to make up for it.
  18. No liability there. She could have a shot against the players, but I don't even think that is a good. A jury will probably feel she was a willing participant and now regrets it.
  19. Doesn't anyone consider it possible the DA determined the players were telling the truth? If the DA thought the alleged victim was right and just couldn't prove it, she wouldn't have issued that statement. She would have let this sit for a while to see if one of them gets nervous and decides to flip. She thinks the players are telling the truth. Thats why the statement was issued. To lay this to rest.
  20. Maybe the players are telling the truth and no laws were broken. In any event this is a done deal as far as the DA is concerned. I suspect the DA thinks the players were wrongfully accused and made the state to put an end to this.
  21. then I don't want to be right
  22. Hard to believe that three of our guys could collectively be that stupid.
  23. He's just trying to scrounge a little beer on spring break and he was polite, offering to party with the guy. Sounds like the only thing he forgot was to run.
