  1. I thought the white/black thing was referring to the fact that the JUCO big who was at the LaSalle game and was being discussed in the other thread is black whereas Stivrins is clearly white. To take a page out of slufan13's book "As a subscriber to billikenreport.com, I can confirm [both of these]"
  2. I believe there were some CBC kids at the game, but I don't think they were the "7 footer" you are talking about.
  3. I think I'll be rooting for Charlotte. Richmond can be tough with the match up zone and the Princeton offense.
  4. Highlights here: http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/09/video-no-16-saint-louis-claims-share-of-a-10-title-with-win-over-la-salle/
  5. I thought Redford's block was probably clean. He could have probably been called for a blocking foul while Jett was driving to the hoop (as McCall & Mitchell were a few times on Semaj's drives), but the zebras don't make that call late in the game against the home team. Taj is absolutely correct re the blocks of Dwayne. Twice an X bruiser (might have been Taylor both times, not sure) "blocked" Evans shot after going through his arm to get the ball. X bigs were leaning into and over Dwayne all night with no calls. I have to give them credit though, they did a good job of bumping our guys with their bodies while keeping their hands high. Playing D like that makes it a lot tougher for the ref to call fouls.
  6. Bills poor execution and terrible shooting lost us the game, but I think the officiating was almost inexcusably bad. In the first half, Dwayne was getting bumped and shoved around down low, but there were no fouls called on X. Twice Dwayne had his shot "blocked" and on the replay it looked like the defender got mostly arm. The Xavier "timeout" in overtime was horrible. Christon's entire game is based on carrying the ball and hooking his defender, but he wasn't called for either at all. Multiple times when X traveled there was no call or a phantom foul called on the Bills. It is difficult to win 5 on 8. Despite all of that the Bills should have won the game. There were multiple defensive lapses where Taylor or some other X bruiser would get wide open duner the basket. Somehow Reford got off a few 3s which should never happen with any of our guards on him because they are so much quicker than he is. On offense, we just didn't look as crisp and didn't move the ball very well. There were a few times when we had someone open under under the basket, but the guy with the ball tried to do something himself rather than get it to the open man. Jett took outside jumpers twice early in the shot clock down the strech. For some reason, the guy that was being guarded by Reford didn't just ask for the clear out and take him off the dribble.
  7. FYI: Here is the info about the Royal Banks tickets on Facebook.
  8. Shelvin Mack was another very good guard on those Butler teams, but I think Nored was the PG.
  9. Here are links to the Butler runner up team rosters: 2010-11 2009-10 There are quite a few Indiana kids on those rosters including probably the 2 best players (Hayward & Howard). The guy you talked to may have had a point. Although Butler has had a decent run of success (10 NCAAs in 16 years) going back to 1997, so its not like they just popped up out of nowhere during IU's down years.
  10. I will be disappointed, but will continue to root for and support SLU almost unconditionally (barring something like a move down to D-II or some crazy bad infractions). Creighton has fared decent for themselves in the Valley, perhaps SLU could do the same.
  11. This article is up on SLU's website today. Not much new from Go_Bills post above, but it gives a little more detail:
  12. I don't think the A-10 has to react at all. Assuming X, Butler, SLU, and UD leave (long with Charlotte & Temple), they still have 10 schools (Duquesne, LaSalle, St. Joes, VCU, Richmond, GW, Fordham, UMass, St. Bona, and Rhody). That includes 2 likely NCAA teams this year (VCU and LaSalle) and still mostly bball-centric schools. I think the remaining A-10 would still have 2 or 3 NCAA teams most years. The fact that most leaving are on the periphery of the conference geographically means the remaining schools have less travel costs. If a very strong program from another conference (much like Butler & VCU this year) want to join then they would consider letting them in, but they wouldn't need to add schools.
  13. Rosenblatt II as you call it (actually TD AmeriTrade Park) is not owned by Creighton. While it is near Creighton's campus, it is not on campus. It is owned by the City of Omaha. Saying that Creighton has better a better baseball stadium isn't really true, they play in someone else's stadium. If SLU wanted to play home games at Busch Stadium, they could claim vast superiority to Creighton. Guess what? They play their basketball games in the Century Link Center (also owned by...you guessed it the City of Omaha). Again CenturyLink is near, but not on campus. Morrison Stadium (soccer) is the only one that Creighton actually owns. It is very nice and trumps the Herm, but overall I'll take the facilities that SLU owns over the facilities that Creighton owns.
  14. The game that is thread is about is a game AT George Washington which is in Washington, DC. If you are asking about GW student tickets or GW spring break, I have no idea. If you are asking about the LaSalle game on 3/9, I believe others have said that Saturday IS the start of spring break at SLU. I'm not sure about student tickets.
  15. Yeah that was bogus. There are the end (9 seconds left) I was really hoping the Bills would break it with the walk-ons and one of them would get a bucket, but they just dribbled out the clock in the backcourt.
  16. Well that makes me feel like a chump. I bought 4 $16 (regular $32) Living Social seats a few weeks ago and I was in the middle part of the very last row in a corner. Those are regularly $32 tickets, so I can't complain, but they were probably the worst possible $32 seats. Not bad overall because there is not any bad seats at Chaifetz. Still it seems like they should have been upgrading the folks who paid $16 rather than the folks who paid $6. Oh well, beggars and choosers and whatnot.
  17. Seemed to me that the only big group of empty seats was in the 200s on the end opposite the students. Late arriving crowd, but the place filled in quite a bit and was pretty near full just after halftime. Then a lot of folks began leaving early when the Bills had a comfortable lead and the refs began calling fouls on almost every possession.
  18. Via Twitter, this rally towel is the giveaway for tonight:
  19. This could mean they are 100% sold out of tickets, but I also believe that they stop selling online a few hours before game time.
  20. Cards sucked, Rams weren't here yet, but ironically the Blues (whose season most directly aligns with the SLU basketball season) were pretty good. I think this actually probably helped market the team since the Blues and Bills both played in the same arena so there was some cross advertising going on during the games. It didn't hurt that 1994 was the first year that Keil/Saavis/Scottrade opened and the Bills were in an awesome conference during those years (Great Midwest with Cincinnati, Memphis, Marquette, and DePaul). I think this year's (and probably even last year's) team is better than those teams, but the overall climate has changed so much that the hype around the team is not the same.
  21. Not sure if this has been posted yet or not, but the SLU website now has a link for an application to purchase postseason tickets. I like that they aren't getting too cocky and have the NIT on there as well.
  22. When I get in there it shows about 40 $12 tickets available in section 221 and about 66 $20 tickets available in section 211. The rest are singles or very small groups together in the $32 range and then the $40 tickets. I think Roy is probably right about these being St. Joe's allotment that was just released.
  23. Now there are a bunch of $12 seats available that were not there before. I give up on using the online thing to figure out how close to a sell out it is.
  24. Meh. I would just start giving away the tickets at like 6am when only die hard fans would show up. That way you make sure the die hards have first crack at tickets, but leave the "free" ticket program in place so that the student section is always packed.
  25. Also of note: there are only single tickets available for the LaSalle game on 3/9.
