  1. Getting Back to the Housing discussion.. IMO, on campus housing is absolutely crucial to building a sense of pride to the student body. Part of the apathy come from the fact that most upperclass students, who should be teaching underclassmen traditions, bolt at the first chance for a decent apartment off campus. The longer you stay on campus typically the more involved you are. The village is really the only decent living arrangement for upperclass 21+ adults, and once that is full, you have a tiny amount of space in not-so-grand forest. Upperclass housing has really urgent needs if they want to keep students on campus. The (DeMatt) Greek dorm in its current state, is not a viable solution for greek housing, the indivual chapters have one room that is about 10ftx12ft with damaged walls and ceilings that are crumbling to call their own. It might be one of the worst maintained buildings on campus, and if you don't believe me, just go walk around the building. With repairs and some changes it could be a viable system.
  2. Pistol, I'm glad that you get to decide what qualifies as legitimate housing. I'm also glad that you can speak for the entirety of the non-greek student population. I guess you've never been to rolla, or any number of schools that have "illegimate" housing, I mean fraternity houses. You comments are extremely generalized and shortsighted and seem to be based on viewings of Animal House, or Van Wilder. People living in a community they want to live in is a good thing, and would add a whole new element to the campus that has been lacking for some time. Are there other needs that need to be addressed first sure, I find the lack of housing appalling for a university that is trying to generate a college experience, but for many students that includes greek life, or living on campus in an apartment or dorm. The one point I will agree with you on is that it will never happen under Biondi, but hopefully futher housing will be built for at least the general student population.
  3. If I had to wear the Dayton band uni, I would have just given up on music. Hoenstly who thought that was a good idea. Did the kids from the early nineties rap duo "kriss-kross" design that?
  4. With all due respect, there are many people from the Kansas area at slu as well, now if you are going to scapegoat Mizzou for drawing people away you have to lump Kansas in there as well. I respect the loyalty of the people on this board however blind and naive it may be. I was at the slu game on Saturday as always, and actually took alot of guff from my SLU friends for going as apposed to watching one of the most ancipated college football games this year with them. So don't kid yourselves there were six people in the student section for a reason: There is zero winning tradtion at this school, there is zero in the way of marketing/give-a-ways, and the average student just doesn't care. Let's get the arena finished, get some big post-season wins under our belt, and move forward. Complaining does nothing about the situation but appease your personal sensitivities. This is a culture problem, and we as fans, band members, blue crew, coaches, players, and administration all have to do our part to change that.
  5. The really sad thing is that there are plenty of good programs in St. Louis that produce division one talent for baseball, and none of them get looked at by slu. I have been around highschool baseball for close to 10 years in one capacity or another. It's sad to see that they don't even try to look for players around here. There have been plenty of guys in the last 5-6 years that would have played for this program, and made it better if they had even bothered to show up and look at some high school, American Legion, of SLABA(declining in quality) games.
  6. Has anyone heard if the press conference is still being held at 1:00pm today?
  7. As per wikipedia(take if for what its worth) Majerus was a walk on at Marquette and graduated from there in 1970, and was an assistant and HC there as well. Could that be the Jesuit connection?
  8. With Brad now out of the picture, what impact will this have for the '08 class, and what will happen to the current players and recruits for the '07/'08 season?
  9. 52-40 X w/ 11:00 to go in the 2nd
  10. Dayton-27 Xavier-33 at Half Brian Roberts leading all scorers with 15 Doellman and Burell have 8 apiece
  11. Without explaining the total breakdown of the Catholic religion, this is the short version. The Jesuits are the Society of Jesus which is a section of the priesthood/lay people that are known for education and the forceful conversion of non-Catholics(sorry for the shot guys, but I grew up in the Marianist Tradition). Some other Groups are the Dominicans, Marinanists (Society of Mary), and the Fransiscans. You can be Catholic and not necessarily a Jesuit.
  12. Just ignore him, He proves that he is a know-nothing instigator everytime he opens his mouth. The only thing he is good for is the occasional pseudo-celebrity mug shot.
  13. Does anyone else think that the FSN announcers voices are just irritating? I had to mute the game.
  14. Will the Blue Crew be hosting a similar event to last year's Billiken Madness this October? If so, how is the planning process going and is the administration helping you out at all? What kind of activities are you thinking about doing?
  15. No Offense, but if you try to put bigger instruments (ie Trombones, sousaphones(tubas)) into the space of a regular unmovable seating row with a music stand and the other stuff we need to play, it amount of stuff just does not fit into that volume of space, and I hope they take that into consideration somewhere down the line. Not to mention the drums and basses
  16. This is purely speculative but wee seem to shoot better on the road. I would be interested in seeing the percentages of home v. away games. Some teams just seem to have that one gym where nothing seems to drop, for us it appears as if it is our home court.
  17. Does anyone know of a good free site for SOS rankings?
  18. That said, last night's game was >frustrating to listen to and am sure for those of you who >watched, am assuming it was on TV, probably moreso. I tivo'd the game last night and I am going to delete it because I don't think I could sit through that again
  19. All around terrible effort, that is the worst game I have seen all season. I didn't really see why we started that lineup if we weren'y gonna push the ball up the floor more. Shooting was at the now normal atrocious level. There were a few defensive series that actually were pretty good. Bonwich made a post earlier about long stretches without scoring, and tonight wasn't any different. On a side note, Richmond's band was just awful, they played the same set of songs over and over, and it just sounded like noise.
  20. It was two different guys. The first was the announcer from the women's games who does a solid job. The second guy(ST.B Game), I had not heard before, and I did not think he was particularly exciting although I have heard worse
  21. That's very true, and I wish we would have thought about that. Hindsight is 20/20 though..
